Hey all, I figured I would post this here since this is the section of the forum I spent most of my time in. I will probably post in a few other sections that I post in frequently as well. For all of you who knew me throughout the years on this forum, I used to collect A LOT of Mattel figures and just last August, I sold them all off. There was no reason behind it other than my interests falling away from wrestling. I actually canceled my subscription to the network then and have yet to turn on a WWE program probably since September. I put my focus into other collections, like my Star Wars and Batman stuff. Recently, my wife developed vocal nodules from her teaching job and had to take a medical leave. With that came her not being able to collect (since it was authorized through her school) and not getting paid the past few months. Obviously, this caused some tension, especially because she has not been able to find a new job since. My wife and I have been married for almost three years now. We have 1 fur baby, our Sheltie named Quincy, and for a while, things were going great, but within the past few months, we really had some rough times. We were fighting more, arguing over stupid things and most importantly, really started to drift away. I couldn't take it anymore. I knew that a decision had to be made. I love my wife and the life we have together. I want it to continue on, regardless of the sacrifices I have to make. So a few weeks ago, I made the decision, despite her disagreement, to sell off almost everything I owned. I sold off so many figures, toys, video games, etc. I also picked up more hours at work. I recently just sold off the last thing I had from my collection and I have to say, knowing that I am putting my love and my life with her first has been such an amazing feeling. It is very unfortunate that she recently came up with the health issues, but, unfortunately, it is the bad things in life that make us really stop and think about the good we have. I couldn't let myself take my personal hobbies and my material things get in the way of what she and I have; a very healthy and happy life together. Luckily, She didn't want me to sell off EVERYTHING, so she did convince me to hang on to my Star Wars Black Series figures. Star Wars is such a huge part of me, that she didn't want to see me lose everything. However, if it comes down to it, I will have no issues selling them off to keep us together and to make sure we don't fall into financial issues because of me wanting to continue collecting.SHe said she didn't want to see me give it all up, but I told her I had no issues. If it comes down to it again and we need the money, I will in a heart beat sell off that stuff for her. Again, I hope everyone realizes that this was my own doing. She would never push me to give up anything that I enjoy but I knew it had to be done and I WAS the one who made the decision to sell it all. Really, the point of all of this was I wanted to say thank you to anyone and everyone who made this forum a great place to come to and talk to others about hobbies. With that in mind, I think I will be deleting my account to step away and have a fresh start. It will probably be sometime this week, but it won't be immediate. Just want to tie up a few loose ends with everything and I will be on my way. This has been a great ride and I wish all of you well on your future endeavors, whatever they may be. Maybe some day I will return, but who knows. All I do know is that I am very happy with my decision and I encourage everyone to make sure you have your priorities in line and really think about what is important in your life. I had so much fun throughout the years. The funny posts, the finding of figures, the news of upcoming lineups, the time I spent as a Classifieds MOD, was all great and I regret none of it! Thank you all again! I have been collecting for as long as I care to remember... Star Wars, GI Joe, WWE... you name it. lol But I have come to realize that no matter how much you love a toy, they can never love you back! They are toys after all. I sold everything I had about 10 years ago, but have built everything I really couldn't live without back. Hold onto your wife with all you have in you man. Love her and keep her as close as you can. I have been through the same kind of s**t with my wife, but I would still trade everything I have for her. You have at least one person on these forums that can completely understand where you are coming from. If you ever need to talk... I don't know you... but I am here man. My best to you and your situation. God bless brother.

Refreshing to see someone put their marriage first. Most couples just throw in the towel and don't take their wedding vows seriously. Good for your buddy and best of luck!

I used to have a sheltie by the name of Quincy. He lived from 1999 to 2011. I would give everything I own (Star Wars, Wrestling, etc) to have him back. Enjoy the time that you have with your Quincy, and I hope your wife turns a corner.

I'm still new here, and I don't know you. But I do know you have made the right choice. Love conquers all. ALL. At the end of the day, having someone by your side is whats important. I would not be in the state I'm in if I could have made similar sacrifices a few years back.
....and she doesn't want you to sell the Star Wars figures? She's a keeper. Good luck to you, brother.

Good luck and best wished to you and your wife! You'll be missed around these parts, and feel free to come back around anytime you feel the need for childish bickering, sexual innuendo, fake leaked line-ups, or pictures of swapped figures.

Hey Coon, I think we've traded a few times over the years. Hope things turn out better for you guys and you are making the right decision.
If I can share a little to give you some perspective: back when we were facing our three years of marriage, we were also starting to drift apart. That's when I quit World of Warcraft cold turkey - my gamer-lifestyle was okay in college, not so much in real life. We're now in our 10th year together, 2 kids later, and sure we've had many significant fights inbetween then and now, but I don't regret my decision. Your family always comes first.
