So I started thinking about something as I was writing on another thread on another section. Why didn't Jakks make legends around the BCA/TTL time?
I remember Jakks making the "Legends Series 1" with Blassie, Andre, Snuka and someone else. Yeah they were super awkward at the time. I remember the stances being weird. The boxes were inconvenient as well. But as a kid (I think I was maybe 7 or 8) I really liked them. I jumped at that Blassie. And the "Series 1" made me dream up more legends to come. I was just getting into wrestling, backtracking through the old VHS tapes. At the time I really wanted that Legends series to come out with a Sherri. BIG wishful thinking haha.
I can't be the only one who wanted Legends around those eras. And of coarse it wouldn't be until the CS line that most of us got our legends. I was flippin stoked when Sherri, Brother Love and Bad News Brown came out (even though I never found him!) but in retrospect, I would have liked to have seen a BCA version of legends or even TTL versions of legends.

I believe there was going to be like a "Classic" line but I believe it was going to be repaints or certain superstars like Rock as Rocky Mavia. I'm sure prototypes photos are floating somewhere on the board but my mind isn't too sure. Not sure how in depth they would've gone with certain wrestlers, but who knows

CS1 Undertaker was originally planned for a Famous Scenes Series 5 2-pack years before, but the concept was abandoned and this is what became of the throwback TTL Undertaker figure. Here's a short, but excellent write-up on the subject: hausoffigures.tumblr.com/post/117134908693/wwf-then-and-now-jakks-titan-tron-live-jakksWWF: Then and Now (Jakks Titan Tron Live)Jakks Pacific was set to release new 2-packs in late 2001-early 2002 called the “Then and Now” series, featuring current and past gimmicks of a WWF Superstar. But by the time they would almost become a reality, WWE had moved away from the Titan Tron Live figures, and were already starting to wave out their R3 style. All of which would soon be replaced by the Ruthless Aggression line. These 2-packs would eventually be the idea behind the very popular “WWE Classic Superstars” line which consisted of 28 series released between 2004 and 2009. In fact, the exact “Phenom” Undertaker shown above in the TTL style still made it into the first Series. Rocky Maivia and Hunter Hearst Helmsley would eventually see Classic Superstar releases as well, but in the updated Ruthless Aggression style.I'm not sure why the boots were painted white. Maybe just the usual Jakks trying to cut corners? One slight correction to that post is the "Then and Now" theme was originally proposed for Famous Scenes Series 4, then it was pushed back to Series 5 and eventually scrapped altogether. This was as close to Legends figures as it got during the TTL era of Jakks figures. As for BCA Legends, I think it may have been possible at one time with the likes of Andre The Giant, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Classy Freddie Blassie, Captain Lou Albano, George "The Animal" Steele, Chief Jay Strongbow, King Kong Bundy, One Man Gang and others who were signed to deals in the late 1990's. However, for a series like that to survive and thrive, Jakks would have needed names like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair etc. on the marquee and they simply didn't have access to them because they were all contracted to WCW. On top of that, there was much less interest in a Legends line at that time; nostalgia for 1980's talent really didn't begin in the WWF until 2001-02 with the Gimmick Battle Royal at WMX7 and the return of Hulk Hogan in 2002. By then, Jakks had moved on from BCA figures for several years and the aforementioned Famous Scenes 2-packs were being considered.

That's true chicago. Literally as I was writing this is when k realized all the "legends" of now we're then in WCW or ECW. I ever really thought about that before. It's crazy to think of the amount of legends that spent more time in outside promotions more than WWE. Or some who spent no time in WWE! I think there were a few of those in the CS line right?
Does anyone remember the Legends line made by some random toy company? They made "bloody" variants of all them. That's when I remember getting excited as a kid. I saw all these legends getting figures like Capt Lou, Wahoo and Tony Atlas. I remember my cousin playing a horrible joke on me. He said the same company would be producing legend figures of Jimmy Hart, Heenan, Sherri and multiple ladies wrestlers (Moolah, Richter, the Jumping Bomb Angels and Velvet McIntyre). As a 10 year old gullible kid, I was stoked. He went so far as to tell me there were commercials for the series. I was a fan of the Legends set, even the bloody ones lol. They were very plain but cool in my opinion. Just like the BCAs. They aren't fantastic by today's standards but they're neat because of that.
I do have to admit that the Diesel and Taker of that set are awesome! I wish they would have seen the light of day.
