I checked and saw nothing about this. If it belongs in the classics thread, I apologize, and Marino feel free to move this
Today marks the anniversary of Owen Hart's passing.
Owen is one of my all time favorites. I got into him really heavy about 4 years ago and he stole my heart as a wrestling fan. Easily the most entertaining Hart, and IMO, a more versatile wrestler than Bret.
Anyhow.. I would appreciate if we keep this thread clear of Russo jokes or anything inappropriate or disrespectful to Owen or his legacy.
Hope you all have some fun Owen stories

It's been 17 years. Sucks as much as everything has ever sucked before when it comes to tragedies in wrestling. I was there for his "last" match in the Rosemont Horizon when he tagged with Jarrett. He was even wearing his Blue Blazer boots and looked like he just rolled out of bed. What else can ever be said of him that hasn't been said almost everyday for the past 17 years? It's nice to keep the memories alive.

A good Owen rib story: Val Venis attracted more than his share of attention and controversy, given that his on-air persona was a well-hung porn star. At one autograph signing in St. Louis, a fan approached Venis with a large stack of glossy photos to sign. Knowing that the guy would just turn around and sell them, Venis refused.
Noticing this conversation, Owen hatched a rib. When Venis was sleeping in his hotel room later, Owen called and claimed to be the autograph seeker. He demanded that Venis come down to the lobby and sign them, getting more and more agitated when Venis refused. Fed up, Venis stormed down to the lobby with the intention of pummeling the man, only to find Owen and Jeff Jarrett, who insisted that the autographed hound had just left. Venis spent the better part of the night looking around the hotel for the guy before eventually figuring out he’d been duped.

The Reg Park story Bret tells always makes me laugh. I loved Owen.

Marino is a big Owen fan. He's going to appreciate this, wherever it may end up.
And yeah, love Owen. He was always my favorite Hart. He was infectious, and talented, and good at everything. His 1994 should have led to him winning the WWF Title. Shame it never happened. His enzuigiri angle with HBK is still one of my favorites. Tag team or singles matches, didn't matter. Rocket for life.

I was 1 when he died and didn't know of him until I was around 7.
But looking back on him for the 11 years I've known of him he's one of my favourite people ever, let alone favourite wrestler.
The countless ribs I've heard always make me laugh and just show how great a man he really was, and him wanting a big retirement fund for his kids and wife when he did retire also makes me sad knowing what happened.
I hope he knew how truly happy he made people before his died and just how special a person he really was.

I remember watching Over the Edge 99 at a friends house. It sucked.
His match with Bulldog on Raw for the European title is one of my favorite WWE matches. Same with him and Bret at WMX.

Like pretty much every Hart, he was an amazing wrestler, but he was also easily the most charismatic of them as well.

Owen ribbed me. Owen Hart: Hilarious person. I saw him, Mick Foley, and Paul Bearer at a WWF event in 1998 in Seattle just standing next to me. No body else even noticed them. I walked up and asked Owen to sign my program. He told me "I'm not who you think I am". I said yes you are Owen Hart. Bearer and Foley were cracking up. So he said "no, I am not." I told him he was, so he took my program and signed it "Owen Ha" he then crossed that out and signed "the worlds most dangerous man Ken Shamrock" we all started laughing and as I walked away I said "thank you Owen." He responded "you're welcome. Wait..I'm Shamrock damnit." I still have the picture of Owe.... Ken Shamrock and Mic Foley with a beer (and Fanny packs) with Paul Bearer. Edit: the picture

I started watching wrestling late 1999, so I never knew about Owen until I began renting old WWF vhs tapes. He was definitely one of the best in ring workers. I'm still sad about the way he died. Hopefully the Hart family is staying strong and remembering all the good things about Owen today.

Loved the New Foundation! To this day, I say the New Foundation vs. Orient Express match at Royal Rumble 92 is a very underrated tag match. The cane shot Owen takes going into the corner with his shoulder is grimacing!
Even High Energy were okay for the time being. They were a fun tag team that almost came close to ending Money Inc.'s Tag Title reign in the Fall of 1992.
The blue tights Owen Hart era was neat too. It was right after High Energy split up and Owen wore exactly what Bret wore, only it was blue and orange instead of pink and black. Even the same style of ring jacket. Had some good matches with HBK during that time frame for the IC Title.
The Hart Brothers tag team was short but fun. Of course it was all to set up for the big heel turn for Owen.
The King of Harts gimmick was great! I know its often argued that Owen should have been the one to end Bret's title reign at Survivor Series, but seeing Owen as a transitional champion would have probably done more harm than good.
The Yoko/Owen tag team was fun too. Yoko would destroy the opponents, Owen would get the win and celebrate with both Tag Titles.
Camp Cornette was also awesome. Whether it be Owen, Bulldog and Yoko, or Owen, Bulldog and Vader, the men combined worked well as a unit.
The Owen/Bulldog tag team. I was so happy to see these two beat the Smoking Gunns in September 96 at Mind Games to take the Tag Titles. I always thought they would be a great tag team, and they didn't disappoint.
The Owen/Bulldog feud for the European Title was great, while still being Tag Champions. The finals to the European Title on Raw is still a classic to this day, and was so good that the entire Raw made the WWE 20th Anniversary Raw Box Set a few years back.
The reborn Hart Foundation group! A fun time in 1997 to see The Hart Foundation as a stable and win gold after gold after gold.
The Black Hart. I get what they were doing at the time. But I felt that a bit of Owen was gone inside of him after Bret left the WWE.
The Nation time fame. That again seemed odd. Owen didn't fit with the Nation at all. But it did help move the Owen/Triple H feud into a Rock/Triple H feud.
The Blue Blazer/retirement angle. It was like they really had nothing for Owen to do in the Fall of 1998.
The Canadian Country tag team. Supposedly, Owen and Jeff were supposed to be called, "Canadian Country" but it never came to be on TV. Or maybe the dirt sheets were lying to us back then. (Shocking, I know!) But I liked Jeff and Owen together, and they made good Tag Champions as well.
But like others have said, Owen was the better all round wrestler than Bret. Owen could do everything. Mat wrestle, technical stuff, brawl, etc. Should he have been WWE Champion?? Some would say, 'yes' while others would say, 'no.' I think either way, Owen Hart made the New Generation era of WWE wrestling a fun time for the fans and the wrestlers too.
