Don't forget Mr. Perfect from the 4 pack was molded in orange. Just seems cheap. On a side note my earthquake didn't even come with a tattoo on his arm lol along with blue on his back. Idk I decided to jump on the Mattel bandwagon in 2010 because they didn't do stuff like this. Everything was quality. Hopefully they stop this trend. Bret's singlets were always painted...why stop now? Wow I'm really rattled that Bret's torso is cast in black.... Why is it cast in black? If there's any paint smears or smudges on the torso then you can't fix it easily and are stuck with it, this is b.s Bret, earthquake, diesel.... Ever see an earthquake figure with a blue smudge tattooed on his chest? This needs to stop before they start casting everything in black.

I don't understand why you would cast the torso in black when there is so much more exposed flesh than there is singlet. Isn't that a waste?

I don't know how it is with their machines, but I know from painting in general it is much easier to cover a light color with a darker color than it is vise versa. I would think it takes alot more coats of flesh colored paint to cover plack plastic than it is to cover flesh colored plastic with black. And again I would have though that with these being toys they would know that the paint will chip and scratch over time from play. So why not make the attire what chips/scratches? As that would be easier to touch up.

Black as a material is the least expensive, when you do colors is when it costs. This is based off of my history of dealing with manufacturing vinyl records when black were the most common, plentiful & cheapest, while colors cost more and require minimums to order.

I know I'm not privy to the ins-and-outs of their production, but it seems like a no brainer to me that you would cast the torso in flesh tone and lay down a layer of black for the singlet.

Then I guess at that point my question would shift to, why aren't ALL the torsos for EVERY figure cast in black and painted then?

It is a different field and item to manufacture, but I'm assuming. And I'm also basing it off of the company I work for does a lot of prototyping and manufacturing of plastic items, that's all black, and on the 3D printer we have the cheapest material is black.

The black is the cheaper to make for sure but I started collecting mattel because they didn't do this kind of stuff. At first they only painted skin tone on Mysterio masks....
For a company that is so customizably friendly , this is a crap move

I would figure black plastic is probably cheaper as is black and red paint. I do so enjoy these behind the scenes discussion about how things are made. I don't suppose MattelDesignTeam could shed a little light on this...could you?

Nice pics. PJ - can you post a pic of the Elite 43 and Wrestlemania 32 (if you have it) Bret's side-by-side for comparison?

yea the skin tone crap has to go.. ive been noticing it lately , the nastys have it also... so its an obvious cost issue i guess.. because they didnt use to do this.

I would have rather of not had a Samoa Joe cloth shirt, and instead had the figures receive proper paint jobs. Absolutely disappointing. I'm still going to pick up this whole series, 2 of each more than likely. I can't help it! I just hope enough of us voice our opinions on the suggestion board!

That Bret looks like a bad custom with that skin tone.
