I'd be happy with an Edge showcase, although I'd rather wait until they could add the Hardys and Angle so they could start at the beginning and work through E and C, Edge and Mysterio, the Angle feud, the heel switch, the Matt stuff, etc. They already have Taker, Del Rio, etc so they could do Rated RKO to the end, but they also have the Dudleys. Seems a shame not to do it right. He's arguably one the top ten, if not top five stars of the 2000s
I really dont see the point of a Lesnar showcase without Angle. I'd say Angle is his greatest opponent by a large margin. What are they going to do, have it from 2012? I really don't want to have to hit 25 germans per match to meet the requirements.

wwe.2k.com/news/wwe-2k17-featuresNo Showcase this year. Instead they've decided to focus on Universe and My Career modes. Backstage areas have returned as well as highlight reel/custom entrance videos. And Universe/My Career has a new thing called Promo Engine.

Reading the latest article on IGN, and they say the roster is even bigger than last year, which is very exciting. I'm ok with no showcase since they put more energy into the core game play, and really like what I'm hearing so far.

I miss custom story modes with actual wrestlers like in smackdown vs raw, I hope they bring that back eventually

That article sounds makes it sound like we are getting a damn good game. I have a feeling some Lesnar stuff might make it in (like the WM 31 arena for example) which is cool, but it was wise to skip out on the Showcase if they couldn't come through with a decent roster with it.

WWE Showcase Mode is dead?! Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! I'm so very happy, I hope the work into the game-play and other modes is as good as it sounds!
I'm so excited to see trailer and game-play videos. Let's hope My Career mode isn't incredibly repetitive and impossibly long to complete.

So, no KOTR from 2002. No vengeance. No NoWayOut2003, oh and if they couldn't get Team Angle that's even worse. |

FINALLY!!!!! Working to make Universe feel like an actual wrestling show is what I have been calling for for years! Universe has been terrible, I hope that they back this up. I'm actually really excited. The ONLY thing I liked about Showcase was the atypical guys and additional attires. The only Showcase I ever played through was HHH vs Shawn last year, and I found it boring. I guess you can count 30 years of Wrestlemania as well. I think I stopped after the Hogan era on that one. That was my problem with Universe, the same exact match every week. I like what I'm hearing! Universe was what I always thought should be the main focus. Promos were also a GLARING omission. Based on what I'm hearing I think I'm more excited for a WWE game than I have been since maybe SvR 2011.

Holy crapthat article made me so excited! I'm ok with no showcase mode if we were just gonna get a half-assed one... I know that was a hard choice for 2K, but the right one. Can't wait to play Universe this year as it seems like they focused on that the most, maybe i'll be able to get some nice cutscenes this year rather than the same 2 I got last year.
The promo mode seems interesting, I wonder how that's gonna be incorporated into Universe mode. Also, for MyCareer I hope we can actually choose are players voice instead of having one that sounds like a damn superhero and sounding choppy. With all the new backstage inclusions I wonder if we will be able to roam backstage for MyCareer like SvR '11 in RTWM.
All in all, I'm so excited for this game & even with the exclusion of Brocks showcase mode, I hope that we will still see the likes of '04 Eddie Guerrero, RVD, '02 Edge, etc..

I would set up a rivalry match between to superstars & they would have a match every RAW leading up to the PPV. I'm so excited for Universe, I would always play showcase first and beat it as soon as I can so I can unlock everything, & then it was all Universe mode from there. |

I like that they sacrificed something in order to focus on the gameplay itself and other stuff we wanted in previous games. It shows me that they are listening to the fans and making an effort to make this game great.

That article definitely has me optimistic, I always spent all my time in Universe mode, despite the fact that pretty much nothing ever happened. Pretty much just relied on myself to have good matches. Hopefully now there can be a bit of substance.
I'm happy with no showcase, I didn't even finish it in 2k16, and I played through MyCareer long enough to win the NXT Championship, but I got tired of fighting Kevin Owens, Hideo Itami, and Tyler Breeze literally every single week so I gave up.

Very happy with today's news. I never played the Showcase mode and spend the majority of my time playing in Universe and MyCareer. I'm glad 2K is putting their efforts toward enhancing those modes. Loving the additional customization for the creation suites as well. I really really REALLY hope Universe mode doesn't have as many glitches and is less repetitive. There have been improvements each year, but I'm hoping that this year we are allowed to fully customize the shows (i.e., number of matches per card, number of titles).

Intrested in how backstage brawls and crowd brawls will work, I wasn't a fan of how they became in the last games they were featured in.
A 2nd submission system sounds like it could be great, I finally got to grips with the 2k16 one so i'm not as annoyed by that anymore.
New ladder match game-play excites me, but I'm hoping the Steel Cage match hasn't been left untouched again.

I just hope that in MyCareer superstars like Brock Lesnar, Rock and HHH only show up for certain storylines and not every week, it takes me a bit out of the game when rock teams with fandango and beats the prime time players or im in a rivalry with Brock Lesnar and I vs him on raw and smackdown for two weeks straight
