I remember the E doing angles in the past with psychiatric evaluations, but have any workers talked about actually going to psychiatrists, possibly in books or interviews?

Considering basically everyone uses a psychiatrist these days I'd imagine it would be harder to find someone who isn't using one.

I don't know how it is in the wrestling industry, but in most other settings, admitting to seeing a psychiatrist is tantamount to career suicide, especially in professional fields such as medicine, engineering, and government.
That's not to say that there aren't many of those kinds of people seeing psychiatrists. But there are several reasons for patient confidentiality. Protecting a patient's reputation and reliability is one of them.

That's not to say that there aren't many of those kinds of people seeing psychiatrists. But there are several reasons for patient confidentiality. Protecting a patient's reputation and reliability is one of them. Unfortunately this rings true, even in this current age with increased public awareness of mental health issues. |

I *think* Shawn Michaels said something about seeing one during the Kliq days in his book. I haven't read it in forever though, so that might not be 100% true.

Is it really any of anyone's business? Are you seeing a shrink? I don't understand how the majority of the people here are so interested in wrestlers personal lives. I like reading and hearing stories on how they achieved their goals on getting into the business not how their moms and dads treated them.

I'd imagine many do. Their lifestyles have got to be among the most physically and mentally exhausted, going from extreme highs and lows on a daily basis. Not to mention being a celebrity and having way more attention than they'd like.

Most do once they get into that line of work. Once you start hearing all sorts of stories from different types of people you tend to need someone to talk to as well. It's a lot to handle. |
