So for the first time in a long time, WWE has a big opportunity to return to compelling TV/feuds.
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins - This is like the new John Cena/CM Punk feud that we had in 2011 - a babyface who the crowd legit hates but he always seems to win vs. a heel/tweener who cuts great promos who the crowd loves. WWE title in the mix. This one has the chance to be a solid feud for the summer.
John Cena vs. AJ Styles - A babyface who the crowd loves hating, but he's John Cena and if he loses it's big, vs. AJ Styles, internet champion.
Will WWE ruin these feuds the way they used to ruin feuds in 2011/2012? Hot promo, must see feel, only to be ruined by Kane/Big Show/Mark Henry run ins at the end to make it triple threat match ? Or by throwing these guys into a John Laurinitus/Miz/R Truth category of storylines?
MITB 2016 may be the best PPV in years. Please don't ruin it for us WWE.

those are two feuds that do carry some interest, but i wish they would've waited out the cena/aj feud. even if aj isn't used to his full potential, it's been amazing to see him come to wwe and headline ppvs and have some killer matches.

Mark Henry was amazing in 2011. Watch your mouth. I love you. This summer should be pretty fun to watch. And with the Brand Extension floating around it's going to be pretty exciting.

I don't see these 2 feuds as big feuds. AJ and Cena is pretty cool, but it will be just like his Kevin Owens feud (Cena loses 1 and wins 2). Rollins and Roman has already went in the gutter for me, I just don't have any interest in that feud at all.

About a month or two ago, I got the feeling business was about to pick up. Felt like it was the calm before the storm, so to speak. So I'm really excited for the brand extension, new talent being brought in, and hopefully some big name signings as well.

Seth Rollins does not cut great promos. He's solid on the mic but to compare him to Punk on the stick is a big, big stretch.

I'm not getting my hopes up. WWE had a solid start to the year following 'Mania but has had a lot of creative issues since. Things like, Corbin v. Ziggler - over and over - makes me cringe. Putting the US Title on the pre-show? Bad for business. Not that creative issues are new to WWE, but they've got an expansive roster right now and they are definitely not making the most of it.
It'll really come down to a few things: A: Who wins Money in the Bank.
Honestly, with 2/3 of the Shield engaged in a feud right now over the WHC, I feel like it might be Ambrose to set up a Triple Threat match between the former Stable. Which I don't think is the right call at all. I would love to see it eventually, but I don't think that now is the time. At the same time, though, they could give it to Del Rio again, just because he's the least likely guy to get cheered over Roman - that's assuming Rollins loses, which I think most of us expect to happen, at least until Summerslam. I would love to see KO win, but if KO wins this year, he just gets thrown into a feud with Reigns, and as much as I'd love KO in the title picture, I hope they hold off until later on that one.
B: How well WWE executes the Brand Extension.
The extension has the potential to inject life into the WWE, but it also has the potential to be a disaster. At the very least, it affords the opportunity for a lot of the newcomers to get noticed, and some fan-favorites to make their way back onto the card on a regular basis. But how they execute will be the ultimate factor in if it works or not. Will Reigns dominate one show and Cena the other? I don't think that anyone wants to see that, either. It's a mess.
C: How WWE plays out 'The Club' Angle.
I'm personally excited for Cena v. Styles just because it's a fantasy-booking dream match. It's something I never thought I'd see, and if they do the matches well, I will be satisfied, win or lose. What I'm concerned about is how Cena will handle the onslaught of The Club. Gosh, I hate saying The Club. Maybe I'll refer to them as the Rubber Bullet Club. That's PG, right? Anyways, if the angle ends up being Super Cena overcoming all odds to beat Styles and his cronies, I think I speak for everyone when I say that would be total crap. We've seen it before, and we're tired of it. But, if the story arc takes Cena in a new direction, it could maybe set up a fun angle that could elevate some other guys, too. Maybe Balor will debut face against what everyone expects and help Cena. Maybe then he'll turn on Cena and join the Club. There's a million variables for how it can play out, but it's safe to say that how it ends up will play a big part in how "big" WWE's summer will be.
So as far as WWE having a chance at a big summer? Yes, they certainly do. But do I have my hopes up? No, not yet.

Major chance. Starting with these feuds for mitb Cena/aj and Roman/Rollins. Then the brand extension has HUGE potential if done right. They usually have strong summers, imo the best recent ones were 2011 and 2013.

I enjoyed the summer of '97 the most.
The Hart Foundation feuding with Austin, HBK, Foley and Taker.
Good stuff.
