punksnotdead I'm pretty sure New Day are holding the titles until Summerslam or shortly after. They'll pass London and Kendrick for the longest reigning tag champs before Battleground though right? So if that's all WWE is doing, then they could presumably lose at the next PPV. I think the record is a bit of a novelty. It's not like with AJ where WWE was giving it to Niki out of spite. I like New Day though so all the power to them if that's the commitment, which seems to be the case. New Day has created a lasting legacy with or without those titles though imo. I liked Londrick but I don't think they were anywhere near as impactful as New Day. I'm sure the celebration will be hilarious when it happens.

Meltzer's note is interesting. I've been harping on this for months. There's nothing keeping Roman Reigns at the top of the card except Vince's stubbornness. He's not a draw, and he's not pulling Cena numbers in any department. There is not enough there to continue fighting the tide.

The only thing I wish they didn't do was, the Ambrose Asylum last Monday. Where Dean dropped Roman and left as the only one standing. Because by doing that, they kinda made it obvious that was the direction they were heading. I would rather they not had that segment last week and saved it for tonight after the cash in. Would have made it a bit more surprising if you ask me.
I think now is the time to turn Roman heel. He's got that cocky swagger to him and will do him wonders as a heel. Crowd already hates the guy, so give them a reason to boo him even more.

Battleground. HHH costs Rollins the belt. Reigns alligns with HHH. Major Rollins face turn. Major Reigns heel turn. Monday Night Raw. Reigns. Dun nuh dunuh nuh. Brock Lesnar. Summer Slam. Brock vs Reigns. HHH vs Rollins. Dean back to midcard hell. Why not keep Dean away from the Shield and Authority stuff and let him defend the title against guys like Owens and AJ. Keeps Dean's feuds fresh and the WWE can still push Romans and Rollins to their delight. I like your thoughts here.

Being a heel will allow RR to develop his character a lot more.....could do him wonders really.

I thought Demolition had the record Technically..extremely technically if you ask me... Demolition held different Tag Titles so yes and no. WWE loves to rewrite records and the fact that they constantly change title names, belts, do brand splits and unifications allows them to say whatever the hell they want to when it suits their purposes.

They won't turn him but Reigns desperately needs his heel turn now. He can claim he was concussed during the Rollins match and the ref bump screwed him as well. He can also claim Dean was afraid to cash in on him. So many heel opportunities they can go with him. Sadly it'll probably be the same face-Roman crap.

Yeah. Demolition has the record for the World Tag Team Championships but those titles ended their lineage in 2010 when they were merged with the WWE Tag Team Championships. The WWE Tag Team Championships being the second set of titles start their history in 2002. It's kind of not all on WWE though because when the separate brands were going those were two separate sets of belts. Both of which could exist in the not too distant future again might I add. However, it's definitely misleading for the sake of promoting an accomplishment since that record doesn't include any of the runs predating 2002. However, it's the same as Nikki Bella being the longest reigning Divas Champion and not including the original Women's Title run and women like Alundra Blayze and Trish Stratus. It's just what WWE does.

Almost all of the time (maybe 90%) I don't care who wins or loses or who is the champion I just want to see whoever is in the ring give 100% effort and entertain me. From the spoiler I read on the Mattel board in one of the replies in the "MitB Dean Elite" thread this is the time I am very disappointed with who is the champion. I have tried and tried to like Ambrose, but can't. I love 90% of his promo/interviews, but once he gets into the ring he loses my interest as soon as he does either the his girl fight beatdowns on his mid-ropes slingshot clothesline. Those moves are both almost as pathetic as the Cobra. So because I saw that spoiler I will probably pass on MitB (was planning on watching it today). I am happy for those who wanted him as champion, but I personally feel it is a mistake giving the most prestigious title they have to a guy who has a weak movesets. Because for me with him as champion I will lose all interest in the title. I know people will tell me to check out Dean's matches prior to the WWE, but that doesn't matter to me because I am judging him on what he is doing in the WWE.
Yeah. Ambrose's punches are laughably weak. I like the guy, but dang. If you do watch the PPV, there is a moment when he is standing on a ladder punching that literally made me cringe. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Why can't anyone backstage speak up? Somebody help this guy out. What would that hurt?

Money in the Bank June 19th, 2016 | T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada | Attendance: 14,150
During the Kickoff Show, the Golden Truth defeated Breezango in a match that saw Breezango wrestle with sunburns. It was short and inoffensive (*). Then the Lucha Dragons bested the Dudley Boyz (**).
WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) def. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows and the Vaudevillains in 11:43 It was pretty clear that this would open the show and for good reason. Three of the four teams are pretty over and the champions and Enzo and Cass are so much fun. The champions ran down all six of their opponents beforehand, which was funny. With a match featuring this many moving parts, a lot of it needs to be timed perfectly. This was missing that. There were more than a few awkward moments. A particularly bad one saw Gallows just stand around for no reason just before the finish. The crowd was surprisingly dead for most outside of a burst of energy from Enzo. The two teams that should be champions next were protected as New Day pinned English to retain. Fun enough, but disappointing in the end. **¾
Baron Corbin def. Dolph Ziggler in 12:24 Both guys are capable workers but this feud has gone on for too long. Luckily, this felt like the end and it was probably their best outing together, though that isn’t saying much. Ziggler and Corbin put in a lot of effort here but there was one glaring issue. The crowd gave zero s. I can’t blame them either since the feud and booking has done neither guy any favors really. I did like Ziggler countering the End of Days and nailing a superkick for a near fall, as well as the Deep Six (Corbin’s best move honestly) on the outside. Ziggler bumped around like crazy to try to wake up the fans who chanted “boring” at times. Corbin eventually won the match and rivalry with End of Days, cleanly. Fine match. **¾
Charlotte and Dana Brooke def. Becky Lynch and Natalya in 7:00 I’ve made it clear that I’m not Charlotte fan but the one thing she does well is work in the ring, outside of her atrocious selling. Unfortunately, she hasn’t had many good matches since winning the title. The Roadblock defense, one Becky Lynch match and WrestleMania match stick out. This fell victim to the same thing a lot of Nikki’s old PPV matches did. Nobody cared. This didn’t feel like something that belonged on PPV. This was better served for Raw or Smackdown. Like with Nikki’s reign, this felt like a filler feud until something better happens in the summer. Charlotte pinned Natalya after Becky was thrown into her, mercifully ending this. The most interesting thing about this was Natalya turning heel on Becky “Female Sting” Lynch. Becky’s mid-match fire was kind of fun too. *¼
Apollo Crews def. Sheamus in 8:36 Who laid out this Pay-Per-View? That’s three straight filler matches. Considering the lackluster build and angles for them, they should be placed in between big matches to give the fans a rest. Now you’ve got an already silent crowd on the verge of falling asleep. Sheamus is in a similar spot as Ziggler. Mid-carder who has made it big in the past but was ruined by horrible 50/50 booking over the years, so the fans don’t treat them like former World Champions. Crews played the fiery newcomer, while Sheamus was the brute veteran. It’s a fine story that usually works, only again, the crowd was dead. Plus, Crews’ character is still just “I’VE GOT A BALD HEAD AND I SMILE”. Not very interesting. He won with a rollup, doing no real favors for him. Another pretty good match but nothing special. **½
AJ Styles def. John Cena in 24:11 Finally. Not only did we finally get this match but it was finally something that really stuck out on the show. I loved the way this was done. John Cena is used to being the man that it’s in control, but Styles had him expertly scouted and had an answer for everything. His brash attitude when gaining control was perfect. There were a few awkward moments in the first few minutes that had me worried they wouldn’t click, but they found their footing quickly. It followed the typical big Cena (or big WWE) match format. Lots of near falls and finisher kickouts. They were headed towards a match of the year contender, but then the finish came. I understand that it sets up a rematch but it felt so cheap and, the bigger issue, it felt very anti-climactic. Gallows and Anderson show up, hit Magic Killer, and that’s it? Still, almost everything else about the match was top notch. ****¼
Money in the Bank: Dean Ambrose def. Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in 21:37 This had to be one of the best Money in the Bank fields in history. Six very talented individuals. This featured the obvious big spots we’ve come to expect in these ladder matches, but it didn’t feel like they were just setting up spot after spot. It all felt natural. Add in the emphasis on the personal rivalries (Jericho/Ambrose and Owens/Zayn) at times and you got something unique. Cesaro’s uppercut barrage, Owens’ cannonball barrage, Del Rio’s armbreaker on the ladder and Cesaro jumping from the ladder into a springboard uppercut all stood out to me. The best highlight was either Cesaro swinging Jericho into a ladder or Sami’s Michinoku Driver on Owens onto an open ladder. I love that Sami has basically murdered his rival in their past two ladder matches. After knocking his old nemesis Owens off of the ladder and onto another one, Ambrose retrieved the briefcase. An excellent match that was probably my third favorite MITB ever behind the original and the 2013 Smackdown one. ****¼
WWE United States Championship: Rusev (c) w/ Lana def. Titus O’Neil in 8:13 See, this is where filler belongs. Titus stopped to kiss his sons before the match because he’s a celebrity dad and it was Father’s Day. I expected a good old fashioned hoss fight and that’s what I mostly got. One of the biggest issues that this match suffered from is what everything but the three big matches had. A dead crowd. The fans were mostly quiet for Rusev’s offense and even didn’t seem to care when Titus did his moves. Decent match that Rusev won with the Accolade. The best thing about it was Rusev’s post-match promo on Titus’ kids. Rusev is a grade A savage and it’s beautiful. **¼
WWE Championship: Seth Rollins def. Roman Reigns (c) in 25:59 Like Styles/Cena, this had a big fight feel to it. It started a bit too slow for my taste. I like a slow build sometimes, but it didn’t seem to fully click here. However, once they got past that and started playing to their strengths, this picked up. Rollins showed no ring rust and having him back is very welcome. Reigns is at his best when being led by a superior, more experienced performer, which he had here. For some reason though, I found his 2015 matches (Bryan, Lesnar, etc.) better than his 2016. The Styles matches were good, but had issues that kept them from being great (lack of selling and overbooking). This didn’t suffer from those issues, but never quite got into the next gear. The best part was Rollins countering the Spear with a mid-air Pedigree. Though Reigns kicked out of that, he fell to another Pedigree, taking his first clean loss ever. A really strong main event. ***½
WWE Championship: Dean Ambrose def. Seth Rollins (c) in 0:08 So, the Shield really ended up taking over the WWE. All three members held the WWE Title at one point on this show. Dean cashed in and used Dirty Deeds to win his first WWE Title. It worked perfectly to complete the Shield trifecta. Seth pinned Roman for his first WWE Title, Roman pinned Dean and now Dean pinned Seth. Plus, Dean finally got revenge on Seth after all this time.
Overall: 7/10. The show was, as expected, highlighted by the three major matches. The main event was good, the Money in the Bank match ruled and AJ/Cena lived up to the hype for the most part. Unfortunately, the rest of the show is something that could mostly be skipped. There isn’t really anything outwardly bad except for the women’s tag, but nothing else really stands out, making for an above average show at best. I was mostly entertained after the filler match barrage in the middle stopped though. The great finish to the show is what made me bump up the score a bit.

so can we all agree that was NOT the "greatest money in the bank ppv in history"?? at least get that out of the way
and THAT is the reason i smh at this company when they feel the need to force STUPID crap like that on their fans
anyway....
I was legitimately in SHOCK that Reigns was pinned by Rollins 100% clean in the middle of the ring. (Yes I know the ref was knocked...but it was accidental and really no shenanigans involved just they keep Roman strong by saying he could have had the pin had the ref been in the ring) and even more shocked when the refs hand counted 3 and Ambrose was holding the WWE title
part of me is incredibly happy. as much as i love Rollins and think he is legit the overall best talent in the company, Ambrose has had just as much if not a better story than the other 2 shield guys....being the defacto leader, but bumped to the mid-card while reigns & rollins got to rise to the top
ambrose spends years mostly losing mid-card feuds/big matches but continuing to get more over by the week. the fans are clamoring for a new guy. rollins isn't going to be the new guy because he's a heel..and the reigns experiment has completely bombed. and ive been saying for awhile that Ambrose has the tools to be a top guy. its just an awesome story and im really pumped for the Ambrose era.....even though he will probably lose it at Battleground in the Shield 3 way when Reigns pins Rollins.......but at least for now it seems like they want to go a different direction and thats exactly what this company needs
i could watch shows headlined by Rollins/Ambrose for the next 6 months and be completely happy.
and so the rest of the show happened. the money in the bank match was top notch....great spots, great suspense, everybody shined in some way. it was damn good, exactly what a MITB should be.
sadly i think this is the end of any potential main event push for Cesaro. it's clear he's just a player in the game and not going anywhere. i held out hope they might finally give him something, but alas it's just not gonna happen no matter how loud we cheer. the guy is still one of the top in-ring workers i have ever seen in my life and hopefully he will at least get some more mid-card title runs.
AJ/Cena was a classic. A little annoyed at the finish, but this is current WWE where heels really are presented as cowards, no matter who they are. but the match itself was just fantastic and in the end, AJ got a win over Cena...which is pretty huge to be honest, now we wait for Cena to get his 3 wins back because thats how it works (See: Kevin Owens 2015)
overall it was a fun show, that went on WAY too long but was absolutely NOT the "greatest all time"

I agree he has weak looking punches, but so did other much bigger guys like Kane. It's something that he can work on but hasn't seemed to hurt his popularity with the masses so I don't see why die hard fans are ragging on them so much.

I'm still up trying to figure out where Rollins goes from here. I want him to win it all, and walk out with the title. If Roman wins the title back before Seth, I'm going to lose it. I'd think it'll just be rollins vs dean just now. I wouldn't be surprised if reigns is off tv for a week or two. They need to figure out exactly what to do with him going forward. I've said it before that they won't turn him heel but this is the perfect time to do so. And have Paul Heyman as his manager. Of all of Brock's feuds over the past 2 years, Roman is the only guy Heyman has given props to in promos. He basically called Dean a joke but said he respects Roman. Paul can say nobody appreciates Roman and manage both him and Brock, which eventually leads to their big rematch. It helps Roman with Heyman doing the talking and give Paul something to do full time. Draft Roman to SD and Brock to Raw and let both be the dominant heels.

Had a feeling that Dean Ambrose would be winning the WWE Title at MITB last night,if not then really soon.I personally thing he's overrated and the weakest member of The Shield but the fans do love him even with his limited in ring skills, and that should count for a lot. He's clearly one of the top draws in the company and for months now has basically been headlining the house shows while Reigns headlined the others and reports have came out that Ambrose house shows drew as much and sometimes more the Reigns. So again it only made sense that he would get sometype of run with the WWE Title.
As far as who's a star or draw its pretty clear that the top six biggest names and draws in the WWE today are Cena,Reigns,Orton,Styles,Rollins and Ambrose those are the guys leading the company.I only hope that the WWE fixes things by putting them all in their proper roles by which I mean Cena,Reigns and Orton as heels and Styles,Rollins and Ambrose as babyfaces.

The WWE has never placed that high a value on in ring skills when picking their champions and face of the company. They pick the face based on mainly charisma and drawing power. Look back at some of their biggest stars who ruled at times when there were better in ring performers around during their time but had to play second fiddle: - Hulk Hogan (with his leg drop finisher that Roddy Piper's grandmother could kick out of) - The Ultimate Warrior (Mr. gassed just by his ring entrance) - Stone Cold Steve Austin (was a great technician in WCW but more of a brawler in WWE due to age and injuries breaking down his body) - The Rock (who literally oozed charisma and catch phrases like no one before or after but his in ring skills were only average and his sharpshooter should have been called a sharpsh*tter) - John Cena (Mr. Five Moves of Doom who admittedly tries new stuff but it doesn't always work) My point being that Dean's in ring skills may not be up there with a Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Cesaro, AJ Styles, or numerous others but he does have what the WWE looks for - charisma and the ability to get over with the fans. I hope he gets a decent run with the title lasting at least until SummerSlam if not Survivor Series.

People saying Dean has no in-ring skills have only seen his stuff from the past year. The guy isn't a spot monkey who does a lot of pointless flips. He's a storyteller who can tell a better story than most of the guys on the roster today. The guy has had some great matches. Look at Roadblock with HHH. Great match that should have been the WM main event. His matches with Rollins over the past two years have been great. He put on an entertaining match with Luke Harper this time last year. Look at his great feud with Regal before his main roster debut. Hell there's a reason he was chosen to be the only singles champ during his Shield days.
Hardcore fans seem to blame him for the Brock match but he is the last person who should receive any blame for that. We now know Brock was training for a UFC return and likely didn't want to take any risks at WM. Dean aparently begged for more spot as well and was turned down by Vince and HHH. People shouldn't turn on him for one match that wasn't his fault.
