(With talk of The BOSJ Tournament, and the upcoming Cruiserweight Classic, it got me thinking of this idea. I'm taking a little break from GSW to do this, which might be good since I really don't have the motivation to write EP. 13 right now. This could be good or I might completely it up. But I'm hoping you'll enjoy it. )
*An online press conference was advertised on WCW Monday Nitro, WWF Monday Night Raw, and ECW Hardcore TV, and on Japanese sports channels and radio stations. None of the propel hyping the conference knew what it was about. But the fans were curious. On the day of the press conference, the stream opens on a young man of about 25 in a nice three piece suit sitting at the top of a conference table in a meeting room. *
J.J. Diaz: Hello wrestling fans my name is J.J. Diaz. But that's not important. What is important is that I'm a wrestling fan. And in 1998 wrestling hasn't been hotter. WWF and WCW are feuding for the top spot in the Monday night ratings, ECW is continuing to grow its fan base and branching out of its infamous bingo hall, and NJPW is still doing good business. So, what does that have to do with this press conference? Well you see, I had an idea and somehow I managed to book meetings with the owners of all four of the aforementioned promotions.
*He smiles wide, folding his hands. *
Diaz: And the idea I pitched was this, a round robin style tournament known as The International Wrestling Summit. Six of the promotions top talent will be vying for a beautiful trophy and a chance at their respective companies main champion. After a lot of convincing all four agreed. NJPW took a lot of convincing on letting it replace The G1 Climax but eventually let it. Now how is this going to work? Over the next 16 days each promotion will be holding four nights of the tournament each. Days 17 and 18 will consist of the semi-finals and of course Day 19 will be the finals which will also include some inter promotional dream matches. I'm hoping for the best from this tournament and hoping that maybe this won't be a one off.
*He smiles again, this one more cocky. *
Diaz: As for the participants, well stay tuned to this website where over the next four days each block will be announced. One last note, Mr. Paul Heyman is cashing in on an old favor from Mr. Vincent McMahon. For the places that don't get ECWs Hardcore TV, Mr. McMahon has agreed to air them in place of WWFs Sunday Night Heat. That is all for now. I hope everyone watching this enjoys the tournament. Thank you.
*The stream fades to black. *
