It's the typical problem of marketing versus storytelling. Storywise it'd be great if Demon Balor was only used on rare occasion. But marketing means Demon Balor will come out more often, because it sells merchandising and tickets. It's not so bad in NXT, where the big shows are only every couple of months, but once he transfers to the main roster it'll be interesting. Will he bust it out every PPV regardless of the match's importance. Will we see it on the weekly show for a big singles match? Not every PPV match is a 'big one' but the live audience might lose interest in him if they expect the Demon and get regular Balor.
The best way to find the middle ground is for him to have a third 'final' form. You have Balor, Demon Balor and then some third form where he really reaches down. Different attire (entrance and wrestling) and facepaint. We could also perhaps get that more viscous side that I've seen others on here clamouring for when we see Demon Balor.

I hope his face gets ripped off and he says "A demon has no name".

Kishin Liger. Kishin Liger is a very different aspect of Jushin Thunder Liger's personality that only comes out to play on extremely rare occasions; 3, to be exact. He is the total opposite of the respectful wrestler that Liger usually carries himself as. He spits mist, violently attacks his opponents, and looks totally different, too. He also wears a totally different attire and is 100% different from Jushin Liger. The character of Kishin Liger debuted in 1996 against The Great Muta. Muta ripped Liger's mask off during the match, and underneath was a white painted face with black trim. Liger became possessed, and totally changed the style he wrestled with and how he acted. Usage of the Kishin character was saved for extremely rare occasions, for when it was absolutely necessary. Obviously, the Demon would have to be used more often for Finn since it's the coolest aspect of his character, but it doesn't have to be used at every TakeOver, and when it does, Finn should totally change who he is. It's rarely used and adds a ton of cool aura to Liger. If they used the Demon like this, and made it seem like he was actually possessed and had really changed who he was and how he acted just for that match, it would be so much cooler. Up to this point, I used to think I was pretty knowledgeable about wrestling history. I am now severely mistaken. I had thought of this "original idea" back in the early 2000s when I was big into wrestling video games. My character (myself) wore a mask and in one brutal match he was severely bloodied and beaten and injured. His return saw him wearing his mask similar to how Spiderman had his mask at the end of Spiderman 1 after facing the Green Goblin--all torn up but still wearable. My character's moveset became more aggressive and innovative (i.e., Emerald Fusion, Burning Hammer, Fire Ball Spit (as innovative as early 2000 video games allowed me to be)) where as before he was more of a mat technician (Fireman carries, headlocks, chain wrestling holds) and simple aerialist (top rope axe handles and chops). I want to believe I had heard about Kishin Liger when I came up with my guy, but I doubt it. Finn should do this.

I'd love for someone to pull his balor face off and him to have the demon painted under it. That'd be awesome. With modern technology, it's doable. They could do like a latex mask like that basketball playing grandpa and it could slowly be peeled away in a match to reveal the Demon. By the way, am I the only one who read this post and thought Kiss Demon?

I agree Finn needs to be more aggressive as "The Demon". Maybe the more he uses it, the more aggressive he becomes in non-Demon matches until he injures someone and refuses to use Demon Finn. Then, maybe a year later, he's pushed to the limit by someone and has no choice but to bring out "The Demon" again.

I think Owens would be the perfect guy to bring out Demon Finn again.

Have him be reluctant about it for a month or so, before finally giving in at a big pay per view

I think it's fine the way it's been used only for Takeover's and specials. I just miss the different body paint themes he'd have (Venom, Carnage, Darth Maul, Joker etc) rather than it be some variation of his 'Demon' paint with little tweaks.

i'm thinking once Balor ends up on the main roster he'll use the paint more sparingly--not expecting him to paint up every 3 or 4 weeks for each PPV--so in that time there's room to tweak and differentiate the Demon character

Eh. I like how he uses it at the Takeovers /PPVs. And only really when he's in the main event of them.
Now if he starts using the paint in random Tag matches vs Elias Sampson and No Way Jose, then we have a problem.
