I'm curious as to why there are often posts & polls that are interested in the way I collect & spend my money? I'm not influenced by the way others collect, and I hope no one would be influenced by my habits and make their own decisions. My philosophy is don't like it, don't buy it. I get the figures I like, if there's a QC issue I'll just exchange the figure for a better one.

Who is going to say they like "poor quality control"? That's a loaded question. But I still answered No, because I really haven't had very many problems with Mattel WWE figures. I had one with two left feet. A couple joint loose here and there. Some paint smudges. Nothing that drove me crazy and caused me to start posting silly polls. Maybe her?

I make sure to look over every fig I buy, with that said Hasbro kicks Mattel in the butt when it comes to QC most of the time. Marvel legends are 99% perfect (minus the occasional derpy eye on the females) and are at the same price point.

After getting horrible QC issues with about 35-45% of the figures I've bought in the last 3-4 months, I've cut back and been spending money elsewhere.

I've had minor issues as well, but you're never going to eliminate QC issues. I'd rather we focus on the cost of elite figures. I understand $20 is the accepted price for comparable lines, but in my opinion these are $15 toys. That's them there 2010 prices. It'd be nice to have these fckrs at that price point again.

I don't think Mattel's QC is any worse than other lines. I'm sure I've had 1000 WWE Mattels. Only had to return one figure. Worst thing I got was Cactus Jack's name misaligned along his leg.

I love how this thread is titled "Constructive approach to addressing quality control concerns" yet the original post features nothing constructive whatsoever (and ends with asking others if they consider quitting the line). LOL!
I've gotten tired of some sloppy paint apps like everyone else, but there's not much we (or even Bill) can probably do about it.

I've never experienced a QC issue like what some people post here, so I won't change my spending habits.

I've never experienced a QC issue like what some people post here, so I won't change my spending habits. Agreed... with the hundreds and hundreds of figures I have, and I've only had 5 issues.... I'm pretty happy with those odds.

The only time quality control bugs me is with painted skin.
I can fix anything else very quickly and easily except for blemishes on painted skin...

Id love to know where some of you live or shop that you find so many figures with to complain about
Some of you consider such miniscule things as qc issues.
As a whole, many other companys have far worse QC issues.
As stated above..
Dont like it, dont buy it.
Shouldn't take a genius to understand that

I don't remember Bill saying that at all. What I do remember him saying was he feels Mattel has one of the best QC. And I can agree with that statement. The only real QC issue I have had with a Mattel figure (WWE and DC) was a melted boot on my E42 Triple H. Before that it was my DM Macho Man I had preordered from RSC back in 2010 that had a fused hip. And with DC Comics the only QC issues I have ever had was my Movie Masters Green Lantern. It took three or four before I got one without a fused hip. And I have been collecting both Mattel's DC and WWE lines since day one for each.

I don'the think the QC has been bad overall, maybe I've been lucky. It's the increasingly obvious bad part choices that drive me nuts lately and have got me buying less. Not a fan of all the painted skin tone either.

I understand the difficulty in making perfect figures every time but I will say the qc has gotten worse. I will never pre order because I see a ton of paint app mistake on faces

LOL! I've gotten tired of some sloppy paint apps like everyone else, but there's not much we (or even Bill) can probably do about it. The constructive approach was that by offering up some numbers, the people who are unhappy can show Mattel that their shortcomings are going to start costing them money when the more hardcore collectors decide enough is enough and decide to stop collecting I know it's not on Bill and I actually feel bad for him in that the stuff he designs is incredible, only to have poor execution (at times) undermine his work With regards to the quote I mentioned in the original post, it's on the video below at around the 15 minute mark. Maybe I'm being cynical, I don't know

the last 40-50 figures i got the past year all had awful qc issues, bad paint apps, missing paints, loose joints, broken joints, decal flaws, bent parts and so on

Not sure where I sit with this as I generally haven't had many problems myself with the new figures I've got, even when bought online.
However it's definitely a clear problem and just because they are mass produced 20 dollar figures it shouldn't be swept aside. I also think Joe (OP) has kinda gave Bill a hard time over what he said about QC. I just rewatched from the post above and it's been took out of context. He's saying Mattel's QC is top of the industry and if it is a big problem then he just isn't aware of it.
All in all. To your original question I'd have to say no, they wouldn't make me consider quitting or cutting down. (Currently the re-releases are the thing that's making me question that, but let's not get into it!) But yes, perhaps more should be done to cut down the mistakes.

I think that's a fair comment, when I re-watched it I realised I may have blown it slighly out of proportion in my head. But at the same time the point does still stand, it felt like he was brushing the complaints under the carpet because we weren't paying Hot Toys prices for the figures
