Complaining to Bill won't work because he literally has no hand to make or even suggest changes. It's like telling a cashier at McDonalds that the chicken nuggets need to taste as good they used to for the price they cost. Bill can tell his higher ups about QC issues and they'll tell him thanks & get back to work. I'm sure Mattel knows about the issues but won't make the needed changes due to the Chinese workers actually getting pay raises which increased production costs. There is a reason why Bill tells us about Mattel looking to cut costs. Because they want to do things like take away some articulation from figures or accessories to save money which he has to fight to save.

Don't like it. Don't buy it.
Wow. What a groundbreaking way of thinking.
Perhaps some of us do like these figures, and do want to buy but we just don't want to spend our money on something that has QC issues. We do want these figures. We just want them to not have bad paint apps, warped parts, etc.
Say I go to a restaurant and I want a steak.. I order it medium rare. Then it comes out well done, and looks like it has been dropped on the floor. That's not what I wanted. The restaurant apparently has poor quality control with their food. Or at least in my circumstance. Not all steaks they serve may be like that. Maybe yours was fine. But I'm not worried about yours. I'm worried about mine. Because I'm paying for mine with my money.
I look at most of the toys in the toy section when I browse for wrestling figures just to see what's being put out. Mattel WWE has easily the worst paint issues out of any toy line I see in stores. Maybe one of two figures in other lines has an issue, but when I go to the WWE section I have to study over each figure. One has great paint and warped parts. Then the other has horrible paint but the figure looks in great shape otherwise. I'M WANTING TO BUY THE FIGURE BUT THE QC KEEPS ME FROM BUYING.
So shut up with the don't like it don't buy it. That holds no merit when we're talking about qc. The poor QC keeps many of us from buying figures WE WANT. This thread is about QC. Not about buying figures you don't want.
Pretty simple, or so I thought. But some of you are like a broken record. Saying the same thing in these QC discussions, time after time When it doesn't even apply to the quality control issue.
And no one wants to take pictures of all the qc issues and take the time to prove it to someone they don't even know on wfigs. I don't care if anyone believes me or not. I know what I see and I know how I feel about it.

So unless you only buy online don't buy it is a simple solution. You see a figure and it has an issue you pass on it and buy one that doesn't have an issue. The only figure I have seen lately that all have an issue with is the WM32(?) based Basic Orton in red. They all seem to have white paint from the teeth on the lips. But other than that Orton I have never seen all of the same figure with QC issues there's always more without issues to pick the best one from. And if you get a figure with a QC issue you can call Mattel and get a voucher to get a new one. So yeah they do care about QC and are probably the best mass produced toy company when it comes to QC.
I am not sure about now, but Neca never offered replacements or vouchers in the past. Hell DC Direct/DC Collectables didn't even acknowledge they had QC issues for 15+ years when their figures would break right out of package or break because of the cheap clear plastic they used on their articulation pins that would snap over time from supporting their own weight. Only this year have they started issuing replacements and that is still spotty at best. So yeah they have one of the best QC out there.

It always seems like its the same 6 or 7 members that claim they never have any QC issues out of 100s or 1000s of figures. I agree that this line has the worst paint app problems compared to other lines. I have yet to find a decent Hideo Itami. I've turned down that figure at least 50 times. His kneepads were always a blotch fest.

Received Neville today. Black marks on the face and the legs are casted in Black and repainted? Don't match the rest of the figure.

The only real issue I had with a Mattel figure in terms of deco was a bit of missing paint on 1-2-3 Kid's chest (Which is an easy fix) and any joint issues (Like the elbow of my Finn Balor) I warmed up and moved around, but that's hardly a Mattel exclusive problem.
I do think that the quality is taking a nosedive in certain areas and I feel for those who constantly get shafted. I must be lucky

My flairs forehead is painted and behind his ear isn't. I ordered this online from ringside.

Halls curly forehead hair isn't painted. My other one is the same, and his elbow pads are smudged. These aren't even my biggest examples, but I could not have got either of these figures in stores.

I think what bums me out the most is when the end product doesn't do the awesome work of Bill justice. He deigns these incredible figures just for the factories to produce a inferior version not true to the originals potential with warped parts, caved in heads, gaps between the parts, smeared paint, fused joints etc etc..

I've definitely seen a drop in quality control, and just the over all quality of the product. And that is depressing, because the Mattel WWE line is my favorite collectible toy ever, even surpassing Star Wars, so I voice my concerns not out of disdain, but because I love the product and want to be able to continue to enjoy it. Right now, I'm questioning whether I really want to keep putting money into it, because I feel the product is not delivering the way it used to. For example, compare the first DM Macho to any new elite and you'll see. It's like Mattel was really trying to earn your loyalty and were passionate about the things they were making. Now, they seem to be riding on their past triumphs and expect us to keep blindly buying no matter what. Nowadays the plastic is cheaper with less heft and more elasticity, the paint apps are not consistant and lack any durability, and the new practice of painting flesh tone on torsos, creating mismatched skin tones is the worst. It reminds me of the end of Jakk's run. Really? It makes more sense to mold something black and then paint the majority of it fleshtone? Really? Smh.

I try to avoid buying MOC figures online dilute to this issue, and I've passed over a few at stores I've seen issues with. But if I want a figure I'll buy it when I find a good one.

Yes I am always very careful about ordering online and hate to knowing I may get a messed up figure. It's horrible. I hate comparing companies but I really don't remember Jakks having these kind of paint issues. Most classic superstars I had no issues just buying. I hate having to walk into a store and comparing a few different ones to see if I got a good paint app.
The people saying don't like it don't buy it are the reasons these lines fail. NO crapdon't buy it. But when I or no one else does and they sit on shelves and retailers no longer order them then what? If I ran my business half assed and said to people don't like it don't hire me I wouldn't expect to be in business very long.

Thought I'd lock the poll at 100 voters because everyone loves an even number. 2 in every 3 people think the quality control isn't acceptable, obviously that isn't representative of everyone who buys the line, but it's still a pretty bad number as jangofrett said, I love these things. I absolutely love coming home from work, opening my wardrobe and just looking at my display, it's satisfying. But the longer it goes on, the more issues I'm encountering, it's just zapping a lot of the enjoyment out of the hobby, and that makes me super sad

I always found the "don't like it don't buy it" mentality to be quite odd. The last thing I want is people not to buy these figures, if that happened then these things would cease to exist. What a great piece of advice lol. Being a collector from Series 1 onward there is not doubt the quality has dropped. With how frequent flaws are it's asinine to say otherwise. I honestly can't even recall the last figure I bought with top notch QC. I get the paint brushes ready and the water boiling before I even take them out of the package these days. "I've purchased over 1000 figures and never had an issue" -you sir are a blind man with severe denial.
