June 23. 1996 was a special joyous night for Stone Cold Steve Austin when he said the infamous words "Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass". Where were you that night when this proclamation was declared?.

'Twas just a weeeeee little baby at the time. So probably just laying around drinking a bottle as my parents marked the out lol. That's pretty much how I became a wrestling fan. Thanks Mom and Dad!

I was actually listening to the PPV live. The reason I say "listening" is because back in the day, I was able to find the PPV channel the show was airing on. You couldn't see what was going on because the screen was scrambled, but the audio was nearly perfect. I'd just sit on the floor & play with my figures while hearing the play by play. I guess this would of been the equivalent of listening to the radio in the 50s.

I watched it live on PPV as a seven year old. Such a moment that led to change in pro-wrestling.

I remember it like yesterday.
Friday was the last day of exams. I was in Grade 10 at the time, so I was 15 years old. Myself and my friends, Mike and Jeremy (who became TNA and now NXT superstar Eric Young) all went to the city of Chatham, Ontario with EY's mom to buy an American Satellite Dish. We got it and set it up and that weekend was the King of the Ring show. We missed out on getting the Sunday live version of it, but we got Tuesday's instead.
I was sitting in EY's basement with him, Mike, and some other friends and we watched the replay and loved it! I think we all knew then and there that Steve Austin was gonna become something big. And that is exactly what happened!

I don't know what I was doing at the exact moment that Austin gave his infamous "Austin 3:16" speech, but I do know that I was about seven and a half years old and likely just finished up the second grade.

I was at my grandparents house in Portland, Tennessee. I am my grandparents only grandchild, so they spoiled me a bit and would order all of the wrestling PPVs for me.
I was sitting on the floor about 5 feet from the TV. I was shocked Austin won because he was The Ringmaster only a couple of months before.
My grandmother was drinking black coffee and smoking non-filtered Pall Mall cigarettes looking out the open living room door. She wasn't really paying attention. Then Austin said, "You talk about your Psalms. You talk about your John 3:16, well Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!"
My grandmother said, "What did he say?!?" and died out laughing.
My initial reaction was shock. Then I thought it was the coolest thing my 12 year old ears had ever heard.

I was born 9 days after this, so my best memories are from the Ruthless Aggression era.

I was four going on five and had no clue what wrestling was. I didn't know wrestling was a thing until I played WCW vs. NWO World Tour.

Watching it live on PPV. I was a big Stunning Steve fan since day one. Even got a thumbs up from him once because me and my friend were the only two people in the building cheering for him. I really liked the Ringmaster gimmick, but I thought the Stone Cold gimmick could go further. So we watched that KOTR because I was hoping Steve would finally get a big win & break through that glass ceiling in WWE. Little did I know...
