1 in 500 die cast belt tarnish question

I just recently bought a Batista with a die cast world heavyweight title belt mint on card and the belt has a black tarnish on the plates, I assume it is from the age or storage, I was wondering if anyone had this happen to theirs and is there any way to clean or polish it off.
