When I played with Jakks RA figures, I remember when the WWE nWo consisted of Hollywood, Diesel, and 123 Kid and Bret Hart fought Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship.
But for some weird reason, with Mattel my figures are ONLY allowed to compete against others in their respective eras and those eras rings.
Do you make dream matches happen? Do you relive history? Do you fantasy book based on the rules of reality? What are your rules?

Yeah, CM Punk and Jake The Snake debuted together in my fed. Seth Rollins has been in my fed longer than Hulk Hogan...

Yep , the first elite Dolph Ziggler and Kamala are the longest reigning tag team champions of all time in my fig fed. Bruno Sammartino and Seth Rollins have an intense feud going right now. Andre the Giant is the undefeated European Champion currently in a four way feud with Cesaro, Regal and Bo Dallas.
The only time I have a hard time with the suspension of belief is if I have Dusty Rhodes and Cody Rhodes together or other similar wrestling families....as a result I just kind of try to avoid that....if I do have them mingle I just try not to think about it.

I used to be very strict with my "rules." I recognized and followed the brand splits, and if someone got released I would retire that figure, the only exception being if someone left the company but still made occasional appearances, then I might have them turn up occasionally.
Yeah, I know, kind of silly. I did bend things a little bit, guys like Goldberg and Ultimo Dragon were way more active in my fed than they were while they were with the company. But I would typically keep the World Champions at the level they were portrayed on TV, but I made up my own tag teams and feuds.
Now though, I do whatever, I take a more Lucha Underground approach. For example, a triple threat featuring blonde Sting, Crow Sting and modern Sting.

Absolutely combine eras. All my Mattel figures r in my fed. Still haven't decided if I am going to use multiple characters that r the same wrestler or not, i.e. nash/diesel, hall/razor, xpac/123 kid, papa shango/godfather. Did just solve the epic and primo/Los matador problem as I gave the elite matadors primo and epicos heads and arms.

I don't combine eras but I do bring characters and legends in for certain feuds. Like I brought Rikishi back to team with The Usos against the King's Court (Barrett/Regal/Finlay). I've brought Doink back but you know they could actually put someone new in the costume. Vader/Slaughter/Duggan/Steamboat have all been brought back for matches from time to time. Steamboat even had a run, but I used the Jericho/Steamboat figure that makes him look current. I book realistic in that aspect and I really don't collect many Legends just the ones that can still be used today.

I started off with a few older guys like Flair & Hogan to get a few title reigns and establish them a little bit and then slowly debut more people as I go. I have a 200+ superstar roster though so it gets tough but I just pretend they're all from the same era in their respective primes and move forward that way.. if that makes sense.

I used to when playing with Jakks because I was younger and didn't know many wrestlers but now it's Mattel I have just stuck with Current Day stars. I would add more Ruthless Aggression Stars if Mattel decided to make them but now I will just stick to the current era with stars like Morrison and DiBiase the stars that left only 5 years ago

Back in my playing days, all bets were off. But having an era specific set of rules to guide a general story sounds pretty fun too. it just do both.

I don't have a figure fed, but in my display the Legends and current wrestlers are mixed with my Mattels, but with Jakks, I have them split between RA Era wrestlers (2002-2008) and Classic Superstars. Funny thing is that I have more than 1 RA figure of John Cena, Batista, Jeff Hardy and Candice Michelle, so I had to put them in the Classic Superstars section.

My sons loose collection includes wwf/wcw wrestlers from 1985-2000. He just has them all royal rumble every time he plays.

Don't know if this counts but as a kid with my hasbros I would make matches that could never happen. Andre and Undertaker were tag champs for ever because who could beat them? My favorite other teams were The Narcissist and Mr. Perfect and Rick Martel and The big Boss man and the Mountie (I called them the international law officers....not too creative). The Heart break Kid Shawn Michaels (black and Grey) vs Hulk Hogan long before it happened. I was a huge WWF fan and hated wcw so I made Hogan, Savage anyone who went to wcw Jobbers. Also I used Smash and repo man as two different people
