First and foremost, growing up (especially in his Steiner Bro days) I looked up to this man. I thought Scott Steiner was just unbelievable for his size.
Now, I have to ask, in your opinion what is he really like? I've met the guy two times. One time he was nice (not over the top). The second time, my buddy saw him at a convention and he was just a real a-hole for lack of a better term. However, I have seen countless wrestlers report that Steiner was simply the man. As in, he saved Shane Helms life. Mysterio said he's very respectful and was one of the only guys that never snickered at him in his early WCW days.
He just seems very.....bipolar. Hence an event I was at two years ago. It seemed like things were going well and:

I've never met him, so I'm purely speculating here but...
Back during the Steiner Brothers day, I think he was a good intellectual guy who had a chance to be one of the greatest of all time. But steroids and ego ruined all of that. He got to big and it went to his head. He's like Flair & Warrior, he took the gimmick too serious. He believed he was god's gift to this world and takes himself way too serious. He trows anyone and everyone under the bus at every opportunity. It almost makes me sad to see what he's let himself become.

Personality wise, he seems to be a legitimate piece of s**t. Steroids completely derailed is life.

Petey Williams pretty much explains him. Have always heard crazy stories about Steiner. Can't deny his talent back in the day, could watch any Steiner match from back in the late 80s- 90"s, guy was a freak.

HUH?
but yeah, guy seems like a nutjob. his harassment of flair/ddp in wcw just seemed over the top to the point of bullying. those early steiner matches are just gold though, of course.
had one of the best physiques in pro wrestling history in his early days until he just got way too ripped/juiced out. even in his early days though you could see he was a lose cannon.

I don't think he was ever known as being very nice to the fans or anyone outside of the business and has always been a hot head. But I have read where he has always been loyal to the boys unless he felt they wronged him.

I met him a few weeks ago at LOTR and he was incredibly quiet. He hardly said a word to anyone with the exception of Disco Inferno.

I think Marino summed it up perfectly. He lives his gimmick.
Maybe a little bit of brain damage from injuries...maybe a little rage from too much juice...maybe he was always a loose cannon and a prick.
Maybe it's a soup made from all of the above.

In 99 he came to Golds Gym and bought some steroids from my buddy. We drove him to my buddies house to get them. He seems to harbor a lot of resentment towards fans. He was saying people sue him for crap all the time just because he is famous. He said one "fan" said he hit him with his truck and was suing him, and that the real story was he didn't sign an autograph for the fan and the fan was mad.

I had the pleasure, if you can say that, of driving Scott to the airport after an appearance. I would say Scott is Scott and I dont think Big Poppa Pump and Scott Steiner are much different. Heres what happened. I was taking Scott back to the airport. I grabbed his bag and loaded into the trunk of my car. At the time I had a BMW 645ci. Its a coupe. Everyone knows Im a big guy, so this car worked for my size. I have an inch or 2 on Scott in height. I open the doors and get inside. Scott bumps his head getting inside and started to freak. " ing piece of German shit!" The airport is about a half hour away. I have been to the area several times, but its been awhile since my last visit to the AP and certainly not ever from this direction. To be safe, I punch the destination in my navigation and we are off. Driving down the road, I opt to engage in conversation with Scott. Perhaps this was my mistake. I asked him how Ric was doing and he told me about how Ric was having success in Real Estate and he was good. Cool. Then he told me how he and Ric are starting a chain of diners because "Denny's is a piece of crapwith whores working as waitresses." WOAH! Probably the biggest mistake was asking a wrestling related question. I had asked him if he had a favorite match. I cant remember exactly what he talked about. He started something about tag team, Road Warriors, Sting/Luger and it just kind of snowballed into rambling. So I mention that my favorite match of his was Clash of The Champions against Ric Flair for the WCW World Title. Oops. Scott went off on how much of piece of crapFlair is. How the whole family is a piece of shit. He said "Flair refused to sell for him or put him over." He said he should have been WCW Champion at the time, but Flair refused. He went on to explain how he would never forget, alimony, child support, Flair is banned from returning to Charlotte or risks being put in jail. You could tell he was really getting irked. He was screaming and his hands moving all over the place. He told me he was gonna call Flair right now and tell him how much of piece of craphe is. He asked me if I wanted to tell Flair he is a piece of shit. I was stunned. He never did call Flair. But he went as far as to search his contacts. This also led to him rambling about DDP, Bischoff, Hogan....all pieces of shit. My next error might have been worse. My nav instructed me to get off the highway and took me into a not so nice neighborhood. I knew this couldnt be right. So I looked for a way to get back on the highway. Scott immediately asked if we were lost. I told him no. I know where we are. Its cool. 15 minutes later....we were a bit lost. We come to a traffic light that is red. Scott sees some cops walking to their squad car. He says "pull over and asks these ing pigs." I see signs for the highway finally and told him its right down there. Scott rolls his window down and starts screaming "hey you...pig!" LORD! The light turned green and I took off. I got back on the highway and got him to the airport in plenty of time for his flight. I pull up to drop off and get out to get his bag. Scott grabs it and one of the AP attendants comes over asking if he can help Scott with his bag. He asks "does it look like I need help? Its one ing bag." I jump back in my car and prepare to pull back into traffic to leave. I hear a knock at my window. I am startled. Its Scott. I roll down the window, thinking he forgot something. He says "thanks for the ride." And then he walks off. That is my most intriguing Scott Steiner story.

I'm trying to find the original story about that. I know it's briefly referenced in Death of WCW and is a huge reason why he disappeared for the majority of 1999.
