These promos are horrid and so are Darren Young's. Whoever is writing them should be fired immediately. Maybe they would have worked back in 1986 or something.

They are two guys that constantly fail but Vince insists in pushing them. The Matador gimmick was the only chance they ever had of making it big but they couldn't even make that work either.

They just don't seem to be able to click. Primo would've made a great lower card babyface in the Velocity era, but that's about it. The Shining Stars gimmick just doesn't really make any sense or do anything for anyone. Lower card heel teams are covered with the Outcasts, Vaudevillains, Breezango and Ascension. I think the only thing that can salvage Primo and Epico now is Carlito returning, or if that doesn't happen, maybe a stable with Del Rio.

the vignettes are so outdated in general, but these guys got saddled with a gimmick that never would've worked in any era except maybe the late 80s.
cringeworthy stuff.

At this point, why not go down that road? Breezango's got that taken. Throw one team on each show & were all good. Then we've got a ready made 4 man team for a combined Survivor Series PPV. Yep, I'm grasping at straws. |

I was hoping The Shining Stars would have a win streak for a few months, the fans still wouldn't care, then they would attack whoever was in the ring, maybe the announcers as well to get everybody's attention. Then vent about why they want people to come to Puerto Rico, why people need to visit Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is in debt or was doesn't matter, and no one was helping them. Puerto Rico was left to fend for itself. The Shining Stars can say no matter what people think of the place it is still better than where they live. And since no one helped their country, they were going to make them help. Their goal is to win the Tag Team Titles and bring fortune to their country to help it gain greatness once again.
Or something like that.

Never been a fan of the "I'm from * country * and cocky" gimmick. There's no depth to either character so why should I care about what they're doing.
El Torito made the tag team interesting and fun back when they were the matadores, now what? Are they working for the Puerto Rico tourist board? I don't understand why I'm supposed to buy into them.
Surely after 3 gimmicks creative are starting to realise that they're quite poor in terms of connecting with the audience. I think this might be last chance saloon for these cats before they get let go.

This gimmick is so bad it is mind numbing. WHAT THE  ARE THEY? WHY DO THEY KEEP PIMPING PUERTO RICO LIKE TRAVEL AGENTS? THEY DON'T EVEN ACT LIKE THEY ARE WRESTLERS. WHY AM I YELLING? For real, from the first vignette, this has been one of the worst and most bizarre gimmicks of all-time. They honestly would be better off just being Primo and Epico and being just straight up jobbers with no gimmick. Like, how the did this get past the idea stage, let alone have MONTHS of vignettes. |
