So i'm not exactly oblivious, but i want to know what you guys think are the factors that make a match good or even great?

Great wrestling Keeping the crowd into it (a dead crowd can kill the best of matches) Instances where you're 100% positive the match is over but isn't Guys who can act (i.e. facial expressions/selling moves/etc..) Having guys in the match who's styles compliment each other
There's probably more but thats what I have right now.

The build up, the crowd and the match itself are all important IMO.

The answer is quite simple....
Roman Reigns.
He makes a great match in every match he is in. (Uh oh... Vince finally put that chip into my brain to make me think that apparently)

A good announce team.
Announcers like Jim Ross and Gorilla Monsoon could really sell the story that was being sold in the ring and make the audience feel invested. Today's announce team is pretty stale.

Anything that evokes an emotion and makes you want to buy merchandise.

8 false finishes, blood, chair shots to the head, flips, flips, flips.

Everyone could comment a different thing and they would all be right
It a random mix of different things for different people

I think for me it is more of who is wrestling. If the guys going at it are legit and you've developed a emotional attachment to them you can probably enjoy the wrestling a 60 minute iron man match or a 15 min crap shoot (Bret and Shawn for example). But replace them with Bo Dallas and Darren Young, are you really going to care? In terms of WWE, the payoff to feuds typically comes at a PPV, which obviously are weeks apart so filler content can vary. So for me it's depends on who and how the build up is.

It's like porn. It's hard to define, but you know it when you see it.

The crowd plays an intricate role. They can easily over do it as they do about 85% of the time in NXT

For me, a good match is one that you are emotionally invested in to the point where it feels less like you are watching a performance, and more like you are watching a competition. Also, I prefer a good story being told rather than a bunch of visually appealing spots that are nonsensical and take you out of the moment.

When there's blood, someone going "SOMEWAN CALL NAIN WAN WAN!!!" glass shards everywhere, and of course, Zandig has to have booked the match. JEEEEEEEEEEEEZUS

it's about stylistically telling a story. the styles change over time but the demand for emotion within stays the same. that's why it's sad that we have a group of perhaps the most talented generation ever on our hands but the creative can't get the job done and don't allow freedom. so even though we're having plenty of 'great matches' every damn week almost, most are meaningless and wash away after the night they happen.

these days, a good match is simply one that keeps you on the edge of your seat, not knowing how it's gonna end. If you know the ending before it really doesn't matter what happens during the match imo. Just like a movie if you know the end the rest is hard to invest in.
Like Reigns vs triple h at wrestlemania might of been a good match but to me I was just waiting for the predictable ending so didn't really get invested in it, I couldn't. It might off been an amazing match to someone who didn't realise reigns was winning

There's no 'one way' for a match to be good. Look at Hogan vs. The Rock, and then look at Mr Perfect vs. Bret Hart. Those two matches are polar opposites, but both incredible.
The number one factor, I would say is the story.

For me. A Strong, interesting story is the biggest thing. Above Average wrestlers. Good Commentating A Good Crowd, crowds that are dead just kill the match for me completely. Big or crowd pop moves during the match. 7mintues or longer match. Good reversals and selling of moves. Stars who can act. Spots where you believe the match is 100% over but then the wrestler kicks out and shocks you. Nice looking attires. I don't want to look at boring or basic ring attires.

Good storytelling. The type that makes you forget what you're watching is predetermined.
