I had my family Thanksgiving this weekend (I know, a week late) and my two cousins (6 and 8) were selling chocolate bars to raise money for their school. The school had decided to put 30cents of each dollar towards the disaster on the US East coast. The rest would go to various projects around the school.\ My Aunt didn't really agree with this, because she thought that there were many other causes around the world, that could help countries that were in much harder times. The US isn't, after all, a third world country, and somewhere like Africa could use the money a lot more. I don't feel as strongly opposed to giving money to any charity really, but I totally understand her point. You could also argue, that since it is a public school, teaching the kids the value of charity and goodwill is really the point anyways. Even if they were to donate $100 as a whole school to the New Orleans disaster fund, it would serve the same purpose. What do you guys think? Should our focus be turned entirely to the US, or is this just a 'what is current and fashionable to donate to at the moment'? What do you think? _Arch

I think we should be sending more money to thrid world countries who actually need the money. People in New Orleans will be given every chance to get their lives back, the said can't be the same for people in other countries.
