Was just thinking about this the other day. Now that RAW is going to have a WWE Universal Championship, what was the purpose of renaming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship back to the WWE Championship? Were they going to bring back the World Title and then made a last second decision to change it? Did they think the "WWE World Heavyweight Championship" name sounded too prestige with there now being two main championships in the company? Seems odd they would've randomly chosen to rename the championship just for the sake of doing so.

As of Smackdown, it's now the "WWE World Championship". I don't get the name changes seeing RAW didn't go the world title route.

The WWE has no clue in what they are doing.
I won't be shocked if the belts end up being WWE Raw Title and WWE Smackdown Title eventually.

Raw has the UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP!Smackdown has the WWE championship...nyup!

Naming them Smackdown and Raw titles is a bad idea
What happens if the titles are swapped during the draft

And it sounds less prestiges, World title I think it's better then any other companies championships, however calling them a Raw or SD title is like having another US or IC title.

At first I thought it sounded stupid. But after letting it sink in a couple days, I love it. I hope this is permanent.

Just think in a few years when both these titles are unified the WWE title will be 3 united belts merged into 1.

Maybe they lost the copyright to the name? Just a sugges. Maybe the design of the belt, but not the phrase World Heavyweight Championship. That's a generic phrase.

The WWE (AKA WWF) title is far from generic though, with leiniage dating back to the WWWF. I find it hard to believe they could just lose the copyright. It has to be around somewhere and a dirt sheet will hopefully have the scoop soon.

No but seriously the only belt that matters is he WWE Championship. None of this matters till Balor gets the real WWE Title. One day..

RAW has the WWE Universal Championship. SmackDown has the WWE World Championship. Steph wants to be better than the world, so she has universal.
