As soon as I saw this figure, I just KNEW someone would ask about the Wolfpac Sting head being re-painted as Crow form, and resulting in an inquisitive inquiry whether or not the scan painted that way correlated properly or what have you. Welp, coincidentally enough a mere few days ago, I was binge-watching old Nitros from Summer 1998 on the Network. As big a fan as I was at the time, and despite my typically elephant-esque memory made of ivory tusk, somehow one scene/match had managed to slip through the cracks in my mind. So as I stammered, stuttered & stumbled through some of the scenarios/angles, I came across something the other day that I thought would make a cool figure from Mattel in some form or fashion, then lo & behold, it's shown just days later; quite the premonition, I suppose.

But anyhow, Bret Hart was lobbying for Sting's friendship, in spite of the fact that he had previously shown in months prior that he could not be trusted, seeing as he was a "Hogan-ite" (laughable, considering in reality he was far from it, especially when reminiscing in shoot interviews, books & the like). This was evident in the fact that he interfered & cost Macho Man by in his month-later, May World Title re-match (Macho vs Hogan happened on April 20th & May 19th, IIRC), Savage fighting on behalf of the Wolfpac by that point in the WCW 1998 Timeline. Macho won the belt @ Spring Stampede as a member of the black & white from Crow Sting, then the very next night, as was typically the case due to Hogan's creative control carte blanche, which was repeated again in Summer of 1999 via much the same manner, he lost it to fellow NWO member Hollywood Hogan, since they couldn't get along in the story line at this point (not so ironically mirroring reality), which became the cause of the eventual faction split with Nash (also feuding with Hogan via verbal barbs only at the time), Savage & Konnan creating the red & black Wolfpac attack, which Hennig & Rude faux-joined (before revealing they were black & white 4 Life), then Luger, and eventually, Sting, on June 1st.

So back to Bret, who I believe also "accidentally" cost Sting & Nash the tag titles on a July 20th episode of Nitro (those that Sting won at G.A.B. from Giant & chose Nash as his partner), so Hall & Giant were now champs. Meanwhile, Bret kept trying to butter up his "hero" Sting, while also building up Hogan, so as to be confusing I guess was the point of the whole ordeal? It ends up just being muddled & murky overall, so ya almost hafta go back and watch everything transpire in order with the way things were booked in that at-the-time-beloved company! So, during the one episode I was watching from August, they showed a clip of the week before where Luger was laid out in the back, Sting finding him that way, then walking off. Mean Gene couldn't get Sting to answer knocks at his dressing room door, nor could Bret Hart, who then conducted a backstage interview with a hardly fooled Okerlund, what with Hart's recent past antics. Later that night it'd be Sting & Hart vs. Giant & Hall, however, for the tag team titles, but Sting was nowhere to be found and had supposedly even left the building.

By main event match time though, Sting came down from the rafters, sporting the black & white, reverting back to the Crow look for one night only, including a solo-scorpion singlet just like the one MDT made and has now shown at Super Toy Con. I truly think Bill might be one of us more than we could ever imagine, perhaps even grabbing ideas from stuff like what I just described, as he too may even watch old shows on the Network from time to time...it's not impossible, albeit he is ONE busy dude! Anyways, I did think that'd be cool to portray one day, and it didn't take long for that idea to come to fruition, as if I transported the idea straight into Bill's mind.

One other off-topic thing I noticed before, somewhat related to this entire notion, regards Rey Mysterio's BP 33 attire. I always wondered when he wore it, among his many WCW looks back in the day, but that one not being necessarily one of his more prevalent appearances, as in certainly not frequent! However, without looking for it many moons/months ago, I decided to watch the infamous Finger Poke of Doom Nitro episode from January 4th, 1999, along with the unfolding story of Goldberg being arrested, then of course that "remember where you were when it happened" (in my bathroom taking a leak with the door open, while watching my bedroom television set of Nash & Hogan locking up, then Nash falling from a finger poke, not that anyone cared to know that tidbit, but offered free of charge) event where Wolfpac & Hollywood morphed into Wolfpac Elite or whatever they called it. Welp, during that episode, Mysterio sports said, aforementioned attire.

Perhaps THAT'S where Bill found it?!!??!!? Or not! Probably the latter! LMAO. Anyhow, I forget which precise August '98 Nitro it was at this very moment, but here's the long-haired Wolfpac Sting AS Crow Sting for one night only in much lesser quality (not that it needed ALL this elongated explanation, but eh, I was bored & decided to give the 411 on it as best I could...hope ya enjoyed! At the very least, it answers your question, so there's that anyways!):

Sting had long hair AT LEAST once in the Summer of 1998, which can be witnessed for oneself in this poor quality video or on the WWE Network, and probably properly explained—if not better, then definitely in a more concise manner than myself—by the commentators during Sting's "WolfpaCrow" entrance/the ensuing match, as he reverted back to the darker side of his (id)entity for one night only at the time.}

is the elite the same attire? Didn't someone say that the basic is the only one that's going to be in his Royal Rumble attire?

Nope they are both his royal rumble attire.

AJ said it during one of his interviews that weekend. He was probably unaware of the Elite.

If I remember correctly, he said that they would just add more waves. Which is kind of what he's done.

Sounds like we need to continue to raise awareness around the issue.  Otherwise I'm not hearing anything will change.

When was the red/black nWo Hall leaked? I don't remember that.
