Called it on Twitter. Really shocked it happened so fast. I love Robbie but damn man. That was tough. All it took was one clean punch.

Man I wanted Lawler to win so bad but I had a feeling this would happen. I hope Rory re-signs and works his way back up to a title shot. I say have Rory vs. Lawler 2 and Woodley vs. Wonder Boy.

Man I wanted Lawler to win so bad but I had a feeling this would happen . I hope Rory re-signs and works his way back up to a title shot. I say have Rory vs. Lawler 2 and Woodley vs. Wonder Boy. Me too man. Robbies one of my current favorites. But I just had a suspicion to go with Woodley this go around. Was listening to him on CSN Bay Area/ESPN Radio the other week and I think that's what did it to me. I wasn't expecting a 1st round stoppage at all though. He's taken so much head damage in his last 4-5 fights though I'm not even THAT suprised he went out like that. If you happened to listen to the post fight presser Woodley says he doesn't want Thompson and he wants Nick Diaz or GSP. I dunno, dude really shouldn't be trying to call the shots already. |

Gutted.  We're in a pretty strange situation at the moment... the HW, MW, WW and LW divisions are all wide open. It's the same thing with Eddie Alvarez trying to get Connor or Nate. Champions get bonuses based on ppv buy rates. They want the biggest name fights they can get to make the most money. I get why they are doing it. More people would want to see Woodley vs gsp or Diaz over wonder boy... Exactly... before the rematch with Hendo was announced, some fans were criticsizing Bisping because he said he'd prefer Hendo or GSP - fact is though, both those fights are bigger draws and would have made more money than a fight with Jacare or Romero would have. I don't blame the guys one bit... as a champion, it's only natural you'd like the biggest/most high-profile fight out there. And sometimes the highest ranked fighter/no.1 contender isn't it. |
