CM Punk is going to get his ass handed to him. That documentary is making him look ridiculous. His technique is so bad.

Did you watch the new 'evolution' episode? He still looked kind of green in his sparring, but I'm sure he'll have improved for Gall. Least I hope so. Yes, I watched it last night. Pretty funny with his moving truck getting stuck! I admit his standup still didn't look as evolved as it could've been, but you can see he's hungry to learn and get better. I also thought it was cool Lars was there, that was good of him. His standup (judging by the doco) makes it look like he'll gladly eat five punches to land one. That's not a good sign whatsoever. They didn't show any of his ground game either, which I'm guessing is because it's virtually non-existent maybe?

Excited to see what Punk has to offer honestly, although I really don't know if he will be any good.

I watched the first two episodes of Evolution of Punk. I really enjoyed the first ep and he came across well. Then in the second one he seemed to go against a lot of the things he said in the first episode. I don't know much about MMA but from what I see it looks like he's done well for someone with no prior MMA training and at his age too. But then the step up to UFC to massive, he could easily get destroyed.

Man, watching tbe Evolution of Punk series on YT made me wanna root for the guy. He's getting a ton of hate in the MMA community and not really being given a chance to win. If that video is recent I can see why. The guy still has a major tendency to leave his hands down while he throws strikes. Leaves his chin exposed something tough. If he hasn't improved on that it could be bad news from the guy. I know someone said he may be comfortable eating a few shots but taking a few while sparring vs taking a bomb in an actual fight are two totally different things. I hope he could at least take it to the second win or lose, but I'm having doubts.
Still looking forward to the Main Event more than anything though.

I believe Jimmy said that, and yeah, the video was uploaded less than a week ago. It was 'CM Punk Media Day' at Roufusport where this was taken. I'm in the camp of 'Hey, this is a guy who's actually doing something he wants to do...can't we just respect that?' Win, lose or draw he has my respect for doing that.

In amongst all of this attention on Punk vs Gall, there's also Miocic vs Overeem and Werdum vs Browne...very interesting heavyweight matchups... Werdum is on a tear, Miocic was impressive as all get out against Hunt - but Browne and Overeem are great in their own rights... I'm excited. You guys are too I bet.

I think he's coming across really well - humble, hard-working and dedicated... and that stuff with the "Make A Wish" kid was great. Really hope he gets the win on Saturday. If that video is recent I can see why. The guy still has a major tendency to leave his hands down while he throws strikes. Leaves his chin exposed something tough. If he hasn't improved on that it could be bad news from the guy. Yeah, that seems to be the main weakness in his stand-up... his chin is quite exposed (especially as he's throwing punches). I think it's a pretty common thing though, with fighters starting out/new to sparring - so hopefully they'll have worked on it. Still looking forward to the Main Event more than anything though. I can't wait for this! Who are you picking? They're both great strikers, but I really think it's Overeem's time... he's had his set-backs, but now seems more measured and controlled. And, not taking anything away from Miocic, but Werdum played right into his hands last time... it's going to be a completely different fight in there with the 'Reem.

UFC doing a great job as always of hyping this event. I always enjoy the Countdowns.
I changed the thread title.

I was kinda leaning towards Overeem too honestly. Guy's been on a tear as of late, looking like he's slimmed down a bit and gained a good amount of speed because of it. I wouldn't mind if Stipe retained but he's a Cavs fan so I gotta go with Alistair lol. Fabrico is gonna take out Browne. After a dominant and one sided loss he had in his last fight he needs a W. Travis is good on the feet but probably won't be able to hang with him once it gets to the ground though. I'd like to see Werdum win. Gotta go with my boys Faber and Yancy. Both from areas in California fron where I've grown up. I'm a huge fan of Urijah, I'll always side with the California Kid. Yancy's looked pretty good his last couple of fights, after two recent losses the Diaz fight camp needs a good W. Going with Betha, Uncle Creepy, Brad Tavares, Jessica Andrade and CB Dollaway too. Up in the air with a decision for the Punk L/Gall fight though. Also just read Gall is injured, nothing fight cancelling but an injury is an injury. I don't k ow if that'll lean in the favor of Punk but can't wait to see how it goes.

I'm liking Overeem's chances of becoming one of the most decorated fighters ever (more than he already is). Browne is tough though. Miocic is great but I think Werdum will surprise a lot of people. As for Punk and Gall, like Kollector_Kombat I think it's too hard to call at this stage. We want to go for the upset, the underdog as wrestling fans I guess. Gall looks quite good, long limbs and sharp striking. I'm not really aware of the other fights lol but it's a great card for one outside of LV.

I'm pulling for Punk (as a big Punk fan), but not at the same time.
This guy has commented on hating undeserving guys being handed opportunities, yet that's exactly what's happening with him in UFC.
Would've rather have seen Punk have a few fights under his belt before being signed to UFC right off the bat.
Either way, go Punk!... but he's gonna get wrecked.

I want Punk to win, I really do. But I just don't see it happening at all. My sentiments exactly. What he is doing is inspirational and I love good underdog stories but I just do not see things ending well for him.
