No Clear Direction For Bray Wyatt

the last time I cared about Bray was when he interrupted the Roman V Dean HIAC, never caredid about Rowan, I will love Harper forever and always. Bray just needs to be booked better, Harper needs to get better and Rowan and Braun can off

I think they setup his fall feud last night. They can go Ziggler-Wyatt, which seems likely, or do Wyatt-Ambrose again. I would guess we see Ambrose-Styles, and Wyatt-Ziggler after the SummerSlam fallout but I guess we'll see where it goes.

I love Bray Wyatt. I think he's largely bulletproof because his gimmick is so good and he's so good at portraying that character. They went the extra mile to protect him last night, even at the expensive of what they're clearly trying to do in damage control with Ziggler, which I thought was a huge step forward last night for the record.

Wyatt is going to be a World Champion. It's going to happen. He's already faced Cena and Taker at Mania. Everybody knows what they have with that guy. That being said, like Undertaker in the early part of his career, you don't need to put the title on him to make him seem legitimate. The internet era lets us live moment-to-moment but if you're looking longterm you're comparing Bray to guys like Taker/Kane/Mankind. That's good company. I just don't have any doubt that he's going to get the ball on multiple occasions over the next several years. That makes it easier to enjoy more of the ride with him imo. I do think he loses too much at times but who can't you say that about nowadays.

here's the thing though, a character like Wyatt doesn't need to be world champion, he doesn't need a belt. He's solid on the mic and is a good worker. His gimmick and how he buys into his character is what makes him surreal. He could very well be the new era's "undertaker". But I don't think he's bulletproof. You keep losing big matches and you lose credibilty with the crowd. So far the Bray-character's career has been talk talk talk, job, talk talk talk, job. He hasn't won any significant feuds and WWE had to make Ziggler win last night...at the expense of Bray.

Thing is, Ziggler is getting fed to Ambrose. I don't think anyone really believes Ziggler can do it at SummerSlam. The money in merchadise is with Ambrose so they will keep the belt on him for the majority of this year, maybe even leading to WM next year. Ziggler is a character that got major hurt from the 50/50 booking and jobbing he did for years, and this new found intensity? Too little too late in my opinion. And why is he so obsessed with copying HBK?

They've never figured out how to make Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family work as wrestling characters, really. They're full of potential but also too limited in what they can do to achieve that potential, because the villain can never really change a Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Roman Reigns character permanently. So Bray always ends up in "feuds" that aren't really about matches in the first place, and that have no lasting effect on the babyface. Which is fine if you're a Seth Rollins or Kevin Owens because they're wrestlers, but with Wyatt and the whole cult leader/spooky monster thing, it looks weak to never eat anyone's soul or make them your slave for more than a week or whatever. And to be fair, the likes of Owens and Rollins make their feuds more about building the match. Bray has been awful at that most of the time.

Yeah, I think the match last night was just their way of rebuilding Dolph. A few months ago, nobody would have guessed Ziggler would defeat Bray. So by doing this it re-establishing Dolph as a threat. Plus Dolph cheated to win. So it protects Bray while also planting the seed if they go with a Ziggler heel turn.

Plus last night we got to find out that the Wyatt's are still a group. And I'm sure once Harper comes back he'll be right there with them. Bray's time will come. Back in the old days, talent didn't have to be booked straight to the top to be successful. Sometimes it would take years and there is nothing wrong with that. WWE likes Bray. He'll be fine.

When I was drunk the other night I was trying to convince my mate he should become 'Biker' Bray Wyatt. A truly terrible idea but one I'd love to see once for some reason.

I hope Harper rejoins them when he's healthy so Bray can have a proper faction again. Strowman can disappear for all I care. It's a shame that Harper & Rowan never won the tag belts.
