So just delved into the custom world recently and have been having lots of fun. Here was first I started (Although I finished my Great Muta a few threads below first), Shinsuke Nakamura: Head: Hideo Itami Body: Heath Slater Basic Vest: stone cold create a figure Next up was AJ Styles from Payback. Head: Dean Ambrose create a superstar Body: Daniel Bryan Vest: sting create a superstar I wound up seeing a nice AJ custom that used the hornswoggle hair piece and found another create a super star dean on clearance and since I'm a huge AJ Styles fan decided to make his wrestlemania attire Head: create a superstar dean Ambrose, hornswoggle hair piece Body: Daniel Bryan Vest: create a superstar sting Last up, I bought a Macho King HOF elite and the body was broken, since I had the Hideo Itami body around I decided to make a Wrestlemania 3 Macho Man since I don't have one aside from my LJN figure. I also had done some research and really loved a member on here's work (Chinese chicken) and wanted to sculpt some wrist bands and the finger gesture the macho man used to do. This was slightly a rough try at more detailed customs for me.

Well, I suppose the part where I said these were my first customs and were very much project to learn and get better were completely over looked by two guys who don't post pics of their custom work. Thanks for the motivation, fellas!

Thanks for the motivation, fellas! I think they look great. The only problem is the paint looking rough.

It's the Internet so it's hard to separate insults from legit questions. I assume you're probably speaking about the nakamura biceps and the macho man. Nakamura, this was before I realized my life would be a lot easier with some acetone removing tattoos and I used a Dremel to sand off tattoos. Needless to say that was a terrible idea haha The macho man, I used the left over hideo Itami body which had shorts not trunks. So I was working on sanding bf putty to smooth em over. That macho man want really suppose to be anything more than an experiment in sculpting. I think I was just more proud that i was able to sculpt some wristbands with texture and actually make a finger that small lol

I like your use of colors and decals, they are good details that will often make or break a custom. In your figures, they work well! Something you might invest in at your local Wal Mart or Harbor Freight is a handy little device called a Mini Rotary Tool. I understand the dremel is a good tool, but I found the thing just too powerful and unwieldy for my custom projects. The mini comes with a good assortment of rotary heads, and should only run about $20. I've been using mine for about the last ten years, and it's still running well. It really helps with sanding on fine details, and again gives you leeway to experiment.

By chance do you have a suggestion on good decal paper? The ones I got were a total pain in the ass. And thank you for the compliments

Considering these are firsts they're pretty damn good I really like the AJ's. the paint does seem a little bumpy on some noticeably more on macho man, Decal work could be a little better, AJ's P1 logo seems to over lap the red into the white, but carrys on a red back ground, I think there you should either make the red band on the tights thicker so the P1 logo fits inside or, cut the P1 letters right down so you dont get any back ground colour so you dont get that over lap and then the black bit under the P1 lettering add that as a seperate decal.

And thank you for the compliments My experience with decals that produce good results would be from Papilio. They offer a waterslide thats works with inkjet printers. Once you've printed your design you can hit it with two or three layers of Krylon matte finish, and voila. I believe Papilio is from Texascraft, and may still offer the option of buying sample packs. It's been a few years since I have bought some.

Yea I was super frustrated with the decal Paper I had and just said it. I am cooking up a couple new figures now and am gonna take another crack at decals with new paper
