Hi guys, Just wondering for the fans here, who can you say you saw as 'your' guy? The guy who you followed and held above all others, if at all? You may have had a few, I'm sure of that. I have: First was Matt Hughes. The no-nonsense approach, amazing tenacity and unbelievable era of dominance as THE top welterweight had me as a huge fan of his through the 2000's. I guess if you had honourable mentions for WW I'd add GSP, Chris Lytle and BJ Penn. Second was Rich Franklin. He seemed to me to be just an awesome guy, incredibly focused and had fantastic fights against Nate Quarry, Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva. Of the more modern era I would've said Jon Jones, but only from a fight aspect. The scandals he's been involved with have soured me tremendously on him as a public figure. How about you?

Started with Ken Shamrock during UFC's infancy. Then after Ken, I lost a lot of interest in UFC. When I returned, it was Forrest Griffin and Frank Mir. Then Jon Jones and now above all else....Cody Garbrandt.

Royce Gracie was my guy... I was just blown-away how this relatively small/normal looking guy could tap-out these huge guys. Then it was probably Couture - the ultimate over-achiever - and BJ Penn... I liked Penn before (as a LW) - but when he tapped-out Matt Hughes for the WW title, I became a huge fan.
Currently, it's Robbie Lawler and (being a Brit) Michael Bisping. Also really like Cowboy, Eddie Alvarez and Mr McGregor.

Oh man...I had several. Like you, Jimmy Toucan (+ The Flipout), I was (am) a huge fan of Matt Hughes. His long winning streaks, dominant performances against Carlos Newton and THAT fight against Frank Trigg...just awesome. Big Nog - followed him since the days of PRIDE; loved him as a coach on TUF8, marvelled at his decision win against Couture at UFC 92...and was heartbroken when he lost twice to Mir. Forrest Griffin was another one, moreso for him as a decent human being more than just a fighter, and Mark Munoz (given that I'm half Filipino like him). To an extent I'd add BJ Penn - I saw UFC 127 Here in Sydney mainly because of him. Sadly his fight against Jon Fitch was a bit s**t. Some guys I got behind for a while then they fizzled out and away - not much I could do there. Guys like Joe Stevenson, Ryan Bader, Loe Lauzon, Gabriel Gonzaga, Nate Marquardt and George Sotiropoulos. ...I'd had a big disconnect from UFC and MMA since 2012; with the channel that showed it here taking it off without warning, leaving pay TV as the only option to get it. Now with YouTube I can follow it again for free, instead of forking out $14 a month for the WWE Network (which I hardly watched) - I realise that's not the same thing, but I had no way of justifying that as well as the $45 a month just for Foxtel. So, nowadays there are a ton of nondescript fighters who all seem the same, nothing really separating them from each other. As I've slowly come back in, sadly no one really has the 'my guy' feel to them...having said that, I do like the way 'Cowboy' Donald Cerrone carries himself.

I was a huge fan of Gracie and Ken Shamrock in the beginning. I'll admit that I fell out of love with the sport and haven't watched it in good while though. I saw a few of Rousey's fights and dug her though.

Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, and Rampage Jackson were my favorites when I first started really getting into the UFC, and mma in general. Fedor was another one. Uriah Faber became one of my favorites when I used to get a channel that aired WEC stuff. In recent years I've been a big fan of Cerrone, Weidman, McGregor, and Chael Sonnen.

Austin Aries. It's amazing. In 2005, I'd tell my girlfriend at the time 'My favourite wrestler is Austin Aries. You haven't heard of him, unfortunately.' It wasn't until 2011, that I could say to a girlfriend at the time 'Oh, awesome, my favourite wrestler Austin Aries was signed by TNA! That's great.' Then, earlier this year, 'Oh my god. My favourite wrestler, that you've never really seen wrestler but I won't shut up about, has just been signed by WWE.' And now everyone know's who he is. I'm so proud. /Also I really liked Husky Harris. I was very upset when he received the Punt

Daniel Cormier. Im from Oklahoma, he wrestled at OSU. Fought for a local promotion here once. Won the Strikeforce Grand Prix as a replacement. Came into UFC as an undefeated heavyweight and still is. Was really behind him as i felt like i was on his journey being a fan of him since before his pro career. Then the Jones fight, really bummed me but his one loss is too one of the top 3 ever in most peoples books. The night he won the belt vs Rumble i was so happy. I still want him to avenge the Jones loss if Jon can ever stay clean long enought to get the rematch in.

Michael Bisping. . . he got me started watching in 2009(10?), & Roy Nelson. After they retire I'll probably still watch but won't really have my heart in it.

I root for everyone really. There's just so many. Anthony Johnson, Nick Diaz, Joanna Champion, Cain Velasquez, Holly Holm, Ben Rothwell, Robbie Lawler, Urijah Hall, Gegard Mousassi, Khabib, Max Holloway, Aldo, Kendall Grove, Michael Chandler, Urijah Faber and Dan Henderson if they didn't retire. The list goes on. Been watching for so long now I just respect and follow everyone that gets in a cage..
