Also I use dice to determine out comes. And a ranking system based on point value and match ranks

I may be missing something as I haven't played with figures since I was 7, but surely the idea is to make it up? So why would it matter if the figure was outdated?

To be honest I pretend, I never got a Stardust so I used Cody Rhodes which I agree devalues it. As I don't have a few characters like Kalisto, Neville, Owens and Zayn, I use Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, RVD, Brodus Clay and Tensai and similar guys to act as stand ins and fill out the roster.

Unless it's something like the Shield splitting up, or complete gimmick overhauls (same thing, I suppose), I don't really find it bothersome. In that case, the wrestlers either stick together until figures in solo attires are released, or keep the same gimmick until an updated one debuts. Factions and gimmicks don't change nearly enough in the current product for this to usually pose a threat

I've never worried about my fed following real life. It's much more fun to be able to take a huge roster and make them whatever your favorite gimmick is. If I was trying to do real life I wouldn't have Rick Rude with DX or HBK in tights.

I always go for the most recent look, for Dean Ambrose, Seth, AJ. But for people like X-Pac I just base him on the faction that's taking over. DX or NWO.

When my kid actually did play with his figures, I'd write all the names down on pieces of paper and throw them in a hat and we'd do Royal Rumbles. I'd announce in my perfect "Fink" voice and explain the rules. I'd then draw two names and set up the iPad on YouTube for entrance videos to correlate with the current pick. I have multicolored headlamps that heightened the experience with Finn Balor or Xpac and it was always fun but it never mattered that Andre the Giant was fighting CM Punk or even Dolph. We just had fun.

We just had fun. When we were kids, my friend & I would do that with our LJNs. Pull all the names out and line up the figs in order of entry. Then all the names would go back in the hat and we'd pull the names to determine order of elimination. It was fun when the 3rd guy eliminated was the last guy to enter.

I honestly don't care about current looks as my fed is a mix of old school and the current roster.

Some really cool replies in this thread. So unique and creative what we do.
As for me, I also sort of play a figure fed, and it has all sorts of gimmicks and even dead wrestlers mixed together. It doesn't bother me to do that as long as I'm not playing real WWE. My fed is also within a separate universe. But since I don't like to play a whole lot anymore, I just play World Championship matches and #1 Contender matches. I have all the names of my superstars on separate sheets of paper and I draw out of a hat who's going to get the title shot, and then I decide who wins by own liking. Sting ended up defeating Yokozuna in the finals of a 32 man tournament to become the first ever champion at WM1. Andre then beat him for the title 3 months later, and will hold the belt until WM2 when hopefully either Brock or Hogan win the Rumble to get the 'Mania shot. The former champion is always in a #1 contender contending spot, so Andre should regain the title a while later and have a shorter reign with it. After that, it's all up to good fortune. :-P

Yokozuna and Bo Dallas are both former hardcore champions so that should give you an idea of what goes on.

My fed as a kid had Demolition feuding with Raphael and Donatello for the tag titles so I can't even relate to stressing out over out of date ring attires.

All figures were allowed in my ring. Hell I had my Cyclops and Spawn figure fighting against Jericho and Undertaker. P.S. Cyclops loved Super kicks!

I mean, it's your imagination. To me, I prefer a long haired and tights Jericho, Rock with hair, Trips with long hair, Kane fully masked etc. Could care less if it's "outdated" unless I am trying to do a simulation video or picture line up. I just rather imagine using someone in their prime rather than a current version where they aren't what they were as a performer or character. Just my thoughts.

I personally don't like mixing Era's that much, only if it's a dream match. It doesn't bother me about gimmicks, if not I just put the gimmick on the attire, for example since my TRU never got an updated Elite Seth I just use his current gimmick on The Shield One (even though I ripped of the jacket since it was annoying.
