I was reading Spud's post on another board, and I got to thinking.... there is a solution on how to get more fiures in Canada, or what I'm saying simply makes no sense and should be discarded... either way, it affects Canadian figure collectors.
Now I don't post much at all, as you can see, I've been here since the summer of 2002, and only have 520 something posts... I usually read, and let the others talk, but this got me thinking, and was kind of upsetting.... Jakks needs to cater to Canadians, and realize that we to collect figures, and such.... So here are my thoughts...
Jakks is a US company, but think of it this way... they aren't only geared to Americans.... If you take McDonnalds, they are a US company, but if they didn't sell burgers in Canada and around the world, do you think they would be as ridiculously rich as they are. Now Just because a company is American, doesn't mean they are only trying to sell to Americans... Jakks makes profit from around the world, and selling more figures in Canada would simply generate a profit increase...
The more figures sold = more money earned... I mean come on, it's not rocket science here, it's simple economics... The higher the demand, the higher the supply should be. Now, if they over supply us, the demand isn't so high, and the figures will simply stay on the shelves and cause a decrease in profit, because they will not order more until they are sold.
Now the problem in Canada, or at least where I live, is that the stores will over-supply a set of figures, and under-supply another... there needs to be a common ratio for the people. For example, Classic Superstars 2, 4, and 5... these are over-supplied... the people have had their chance at Classic 2, yet, to this day, full boxes are being put out on the shelves... now the Walmart may look to be adequately stocked for figures, but in turn, they are old figures that have been purchased what, a year ago. The figures that are understocked, are those sets with figures that the people want... the RA15's and such...
Now the main problem is when we get 1 out of every 3 sets... I mean, this may be the fault of Jakks, or this may be the fault of WalMart, but if Jakks keeps walmart informed of new sets, and the high demand from the consumers, I can't see why it wouldn't work like it does in the US. All Walmart has to do, or TRU, or any other distributor for that matter is, not order an excess amount of one set, and absolutely none of another... This way Jakkswill generate more of a profit due to a higher volume of sales, and their profit will increase. With old figures sitting on the shelf, there is no sales being made, Jakks views their Canadian based sales as a loss in profit, all due to a lack of communication that can be fixed with a simple phone call...
Now I know, what I said, maybe doesn't matter, but I do make sense....
Higher the demand, the higher the supply, the higher the PROFIT!!!!!
