Wrestlemania VI had the biggest match between two faces ever at the time in The Ultimate Challenge: WWF Champion Hulk Hogan vs. IC Champion The Ultimate Warrior. The idea behind it? To put Warrior over and start a new WWF generation with the Warrior carrying the company to glory. As we all know...that didn't happen. In 1989, despite No Holds Barred (film) breaking even at the box office for Vince McMahon, that year saw huge growth in the WWF that it hadn't seen since 1986. Attendance was up due to Hulk vs. Macho Man/Bossman feuds and other matches on the cards such as as the Warrior vs. Andre the Giant. Wrestlemania VI saw $3.4 million in ticket sales (a record till WM17), nearly 650k ppv buy plus an additional $600k in revenue from closed circuit. With Warrior carrying the company in 1990...things went downhill. Why break something so good? This is an alternate history with booking changes starting from Wrestlemania VI onwards that is meant to lead to Wrestlemania VII at the LA Memorial Coliseum in front of 100,000+ fans (and possibly more). The venue was originally booked till their was a change with the WWF using the threat against Sgt. Slaughter as an excuse to change venues. However Wrestling pundits believe that it had to do with the low ticket buy and of course the poor card and main event being Hulk vs. Slaughter (though Warrior vs. Savage was epic). WMVII will definitely NOT be Hulk vs. Slaughter. The main focus of this diary will be both the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan.

The Ultimate Challenge: Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior in SINGLES Competition (NON-TITLE)
This was "Superman vs. Batman" "Captain America vs. Iron Man" "Hulk vs. Thing". The match is booked as NON-TITLE between two Superheroes, two of the biggest babyfaces (instead of title for title). The excuse for non-title is that according to "WWF regulations" one Superstar cannot have "two-titles" or commit to "scheduling". Before the match footage is shown of their showdown at the Royal Rumble battle royal and the build up to their feud. match goes exactly as it did with the Ultimate Warrior pinning Hogan when Warrior moves out of the way from Hogan's legdrop and hits the splash. Winner: The Ultimate Warrior via pinfall. At the end of the match the Ultimate Warrior gets his IC title belt and celebrates. Hulk Hogan gets in the ring with the WWF Championship belt and is saddened from his first clean pin loss in the WWF. Hulk and Warrior make peace as Hogan leaves the ring with the WWF Championship belt and Warrior celebrates as the victor in the ring.

WWF Primetime Wrestling April 9th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby "the Brain" HeenanGorilla: What a Wrestlemania that was Brain. Heenan: Are you kidding me after what Andre (the Giant) did to me? I don't even want to remember. Gorilla: Folks Wrestlemania VI saw the Ultimate Challenge taking place between the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan taking on the Intercontinental Champion, the Ultimate Warrior. And what a showdown it was as they clashed in the biggest match in Sports Entertainment history and Brain, I honestly don't think we'll ever see a match like that as President Jack Tunney issued out a memo regarding both champions' future... Heenan: Why wasn't it for the WWF Heavyweight Championship? Warrior won that match and he should've been champion. Gorilla: Well Brain I didn't think you were a Warrior fan...let's get back to the memo shall we? Heenan: Who wants to hear about a memo? Gorilla: Well according to Jack Tunney, due to both champions giving it their all at the Ultimate Challenge, we won't be seeing a rematch between these two anytime soon and it would be best for the WWF if these two titans go their separate ways. Heenan: Are you kidding me? Hulk Hogan would've lost the Heavyweight Championship to Warrior and I know someone who beat the Warrior before and that's Rick Rude, yes and Rick Rude would've been the new champion... Gorilla: So that's why you're a fan of Warrior...got it. Well we caught up with Hulk Hogan this week and this is what he had to say regarding the result of the Ultimate Challenge. Hulk Hogan promo: "You know something my fellow Hulkamaniacs, with all the prayers, vitamins and training Hulkamania continues to run wild in the WWF, and even after all this time I still stand here as the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion...but after Wrestlemania brother...after I stepped in the ring with the Ultimate Warrior...I stood humble...humble before all the little Warriorites, because all the little Hulkamaniacs and all the little Warriorites came together for the Ultimate Challenge and it wasn't a war to no end brother...it ended in unity as the powers of the Warrior and the powers of Hulkamania became one and the Ultimate Warrior showed that he can ride with us...ride with the best. So I ask all challengers and all comers what you're gonna do when Hulkamania and the Warriors run wild on you (flexes)!"

Hogan: Whether you or win or lose brother, you just have to try, you have to try and give it your all and that's all that matters and that's what I did. Love: That's something losers would say wouldn't they? (gets heat) Hogan: (gets angry) You know something Brother Love, I'm sick and tired of your nonsense (pushes down the podium, fans were a bit silent)... Love: Hold on now Mr. Hulk Hogan if you even touch me I'll sue and make you a bigger loser... Hogan: (grabs Love) You'll do what? (gets a pop) Love: (is frightened) Now we don't need violence here now Mr. Hulk Hogan please now...I apologize I do I'm sorry (Hogan let's go of Love) I just wanted to say...I know Hogan I know...I know why you lost...I know the truth as the truth will set you free! Hogan: (looks confused) What are you talking about? Love: It was what Earthquake did to you a few weeks ago when he squashed you you were weakened. Yes that's right all of you know that's the truth, Hulk Hogan would've won the Ultimate Challenge, but Earthquake is to blame. Hogan: What's done is done, but the Ultimate Challenge is over as I got my next challenge... The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Anvil) via Countout to become the No. 1 Contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championships. ___________________________ Warrior pre-match promo: "(face away from camera) At Wrestlemania Ho-Kogan as we stepped in the ring...the stars aligned to make us as one...(turns around to face camera) but as for you Akeem, you have yet to feel the power of the Ultimate Warrior! Tonight as the world watches...the sky opening the gates and we clash in the heavens...the mountains will crumble to pieces and I will toss you into the depths of the place from with you sprung and all the little Warriors will lift the curse that is you and dance the night away in meditation and celebration (roars)." The Ultimate Warrior (c) vs. Akeem (w/ Slick) for the WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipAkeem enters the ring with Slick and gets ready for the match. The Ultimate Warrior runs into the ring and Akeem starts to attack. However Warrior manages to push Akeem to the mat and frightens Akeem with a pose and Akeem jumps out of the ring. Slick tries to get Akeem back in as Akeem doesn't want too. Akeem starts walking up the aisle till the Warrior runs out of the ring and starts to land punches. Warrior tosses Akeem in the ring. Warrior gets in, but Akeem starts kicking Warrior on the mat. Warrior still gets up and Akeem is frightened, Warrior hits the ropes and does a clothesline as Akeem falls hard on the mat. Warrior does a bodyslam on Akeem and starts to hype the crowd. Akeem gets to a corner and as the Warrior goes for a clothesline to the corner, Akeem gets out of the way for Warrior to hit the turnbuckle and is finally hurt. Akeem takes advantage of Warrior and bodyslams him and hits the Air Africa (running splash) for the pin to two. Akeem goes to the second rope from the top and goes for the elbow drop only to miss. Warrior hits the ropes and the splash for the win. Winner: The Ultimate Warrior via pinfall and retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship.___________________________ Mr. Perfect pre-match promo: "Hulk Hogan the world saw it and the world felt it at Wrestlemania VI and they found the truth...you are not invincible. You are beatable, and nothing says Perfect than the Perfect Challenge as you'll be going up against the best of the crop, the brightest to hit the top and tonight when I win the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship, I'll challenge the Ultimate Warrior and beat him just to prove to you Hulk Hogan, that I am the best...I am Perfection."
The Perfect Challenge: Hulk Hogan (c) vs. Mr. Perfect for the WWF ChampionshipMr. Perfect makes his way out without his manager Genius. Vince wonders what is going on. Perfect gets in the ring and announces that his new manager is Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. Bobby Heenan makes his way into the ring and shakes Perfect's hand and says that this is the best deal as he'll be managing the next World's Heavyweight Champion and Hogan's music hits as Brain runs to the outside and Perfect awaits Hulk. Hogan comes out to a huge pop with the WWF Championship belt. He walks in and does his poses as the bell rings and they grapple. Perfect works on Hogan's arm, but Hogan counters Perfect to the ropes, but Perfect hits a dropkick. Hogan falls on the mat. Perfect starts landing kicks on Hogan and whips him to a corner hard. Perfect gets to the top rope for a ten-punch, but on four Hogan lifts him for a spinebuster and a pop. Hogan starts to point his finger at Heenan, but Perfect does a small package on Hogan for the pin to two. Jesse says that he almost had him. Hogan gets up and clotheslines Perfect. Hogan hits three elbow drops on the mat and Heenan starts shouting at Hogan that he's a loser. Hogan gets angry and starts to chase Heenan around the ring. Heenan stops and begs Hogan but from the top ropes, Mr. Perfect hits a double axe handle on the outside. Perfect tosses Hogan in the ring. Hogan tries to get up but Perfect hits a running somersault neckbreaker. After a knee drop, Perfect lifts Hogan up and bodyslams him as Jesse is pleased. Perfect goes for the figure four leglock on Hogan who is in a lot of pain. Hogan manages to reach for the ropes. Perfect lands kicks on Hogan's legs and drags Hogan in the middle and hits two elbow drops and sits him up for a sleeper hold. Hogan's hand is up at two and starts to Hulk up. Perfect can't believe it and Hogan whips him to the ropes and hits the big boot, but Hulk starts to sell his pain in his legs. Jesse says he must still be hurt from missing that leg drop at Wrestlemania. Perfect gets up and attacks Hogan's legs. Hogan falls and Perfect gets him in the middle for another figure four. Hogan is shouting and struggles till he reverses it and Perfect is now in pain. The submission breaks and Perfect gets up fast he goes to the top ropes and hits a flying dropkick as Hogan was up on his feet. Perfect lifts Hogan for the Perfect-Plex for the pin to two and Hogan is on his knees hulking up. Perfect lands punches, but Hogan continues to Hulk up and points his finger at Perfect. Hogan counters a punch and lands three punches and the big boot. Hulk goes for the legdrop, but Heenan grabs Hogan's legs. Hogan turns to Heenan till Hogan gets angry and grabs a hold of Heenan's hair. He lifts him and does a hip toss in the ring. Hogan lifts Heenan for a bodyslam but the referee calls for the bell. Winner: Mr. Perfect via DQ. Hogan retains the WWF Championship. Hogan drops Heenan (without hurting him) and can't believe he lost by DQ and gets angry at the referee and asks him why he stopped the match as Perfect and Heenan run away. Hogan shoves the referee to the mat and walks out with the WWF Championship belt. Vince says that was uncalled for and Jesse says that Hulk is at boiling point since losing at Wrestlemania and you never know if he'll snap. ___________________________ Hulk Hogan's post-match interview with Mean Gene: Gene: Hulk Hogan if I could just have a moment of your time, I just heard in the back that President Jack Tunney is looking to fine you for shoving that referee. Hogan: This was not how it was supposed to end (looks frustrated)! Gene: Hulk Hogan there are some who would say that you aren't fully over the loss at Wrestlemania VI. Hogan: Well you know something Mean Gene, maybe Brother Love was right maybe Earthquake did a number on me (March 10th when he squashed Hogan, but Warrior saved him), maybe reality is hitting me harder than I thought. Or maybe that's all nonsense because the Warrior proved he can ride with the best brother. The reality is is that guys like Bobby Heenan have no right to interfere in a match. I am not upset about Wrestlemania brother, I am... Heenan: (comes in with Mr. Perfect) Yes you are upset Hulk Hogan. Because you lost and you can't handle it anymore and at any moment that precious Championship belt can leave you at anytime. The clock is ticking, the title is slipping away from you... Hogan: You've got a lot of guts coming out here. Heenan: That's right I do because now I know your weaknesses and Mr. Perfect is not done with you. He wants another title shot... Perfect: That's right Hulk Hogan, I'm not afraid of you...you've been walking around with that Championship belt for far too long. I'm going to take it away from you one way or another or someone else will because I know a lot of guys lining up for that title. Hogan: (Perfect and Heenan leave laughing) We'll see...(in a soft voice) we'll just see about that brother....(leaves) Gene: Unbelievable, back to you Vince.

WWF Primetime Wrestling May 14th, 1990 (April 23rd taping) Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby "the Brain" HeenanNotable Matches: Big Boss Man def. The Genius via pinfall.
Rowdy Roddy Piper def. Rick Martel via pinfall. _____________________________________ Brother Love Show with Special Guest: The Ultimate Warrior
Love: I...love...you...tonight my guest is none other than the man who beat Hulk Hogan, the Intercontinental Champion...the Ultimate Warrior (big pop). Warrior: (roars)... Love: I have been waiting along time to ask this but I want to ask, how did it feel to pin the World's Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan...just how did it feel! Warrior: As you know! It was destiny as all the warriors of the past came together that night and I could feel their spirit within me, but they said as their voices whispered to me... that victory was for the both of us...for Ho-Kogan and the Ultimate Warrior (gets a pop)! Love: Well well...I think we all love you now...but truth is in the record books...no matter how much you want to spin it (laughs)...so tell me now Ultimate...Warrior...what is next for you? Warrior: I will take on all challengers and all comers and I will reign supreme as all my little Warriors know...(Rick Rude walks out) Rude: It seems that all those guys in the back are now afraid of you, but I'm not. In all logic since I've beaten you before Warrior, and you've beaten Hulk Hogan...I've beaten you both. They should be afraid of me. You think you're so tough...that you can come out here and say whatever you want or do whatever you want. Warrior: I'll take you on anytime anyplace Suddenly Earthquake appears from behind and attacks Warrior with a steel chair twice to bring him down. Earthquake does a sit-down splash on Warrior and laughs. Rude: (laughs) I'll see you soon chump (Earthquake and Rude leave a hurt Warrior on the floor, Warrior slowly gets up). Gorilla: (on commentary) Is this a new alliance with Rude and Earthquake, and why weren't you there? Heenan: (on commentary) Rick Rude is a free agent. Gorilla: What? Heenan: A free agent, don't worry about this Monsoon you worry about the Warrior because he looked hurt and tired probably from the Ultimate Challenge that wore him out and took a few years off of his life. Gorilla: O give me a break Warrior will be in action faster than you know it.

Big Boss Man def. The Black Knight (jobber) via pinfall.
_____________________________________ Brother Love Show (May 15 taping): Special Guest is Earthquake Love: I...love...you...I would like to welcome the one and only Earthquake to the stage (no one comes out) where is Earthquake? Jimmy Hart: (Hart walks out) I'm sorry Brother Love I have to apologize on behalf of Earthquake who has a 105-degrees fever (poking at Lex Luger's WCW fever story) so he is in the back trying to get better. Love: O my this is not good...well Jimmy Hart I must ask you then about the attack on the Ultimate Warrior. Hart: Rick Rude wanted to send a message to the Warrior baby with the help of Earthquake to say that there is nothing Ultimate about him (suddenly Hulk Hogan walks out with the WWF Championship belt around his waist). Love: O my goodness! Ladies and gentlemen here is the World's Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan (big pop)! Hogan: You know something Brother Love that vicious attack on the Ultimate Warrior brother was wrong on every level because the real truth is Earthquake is a coward and is afraid of the Warriors, he's afraid of the Warrior's strength and knows that the powers of Hulkamania and the powers of the Warriors can never be broken as a united front. Hart: Now hold on just a minute, Earthquake is the guest on this show not you, he is ill and I am speaking on his behalf. And as for you Hulkster baby, you have no business coming out here so why don't you go back in your dressing room and cry about your loss at Wrestlemania. Hogan: (grabs Hart) You know something Jimmy Hart, I came out for my friend the Ultimate Warrior and to confront Earthquake because I want to look into his eyes just like I'm looking into yours and see the kind of people you are...garbage. Hart: This is an outrage and who do you think you are? You know what I know what you are a has been. Love: Please Hulk Hogan that's enough please...Jimmy Hart is my guest...please... Hogan: (lets go of Hart and gets really angry) You know something Jimmy Hart I want Earthquake in the ring, I'll put the title on the line and after I'm done with him, I want you in the ring so that I could finish you off too. Earthquake walks up with a steel chair behind Hogan, he has a wrapping on his forehead and is sweating a lot. Earthquake smashes the chair on Hogan's back. Hogan is hurt, Earthquake removes the championship belt and smashes the chair again and Hogan is on his knees and a third time Hogan is on the floor. Hart: Squash him! Squash him! Earthquake nods and hits the sit-down splash three times on Hulk Hogan as Hart and Love laugh it out. Earthquake mocks Hogan and walks out. The Ultimate Warrior (without the IC belt) runs out and tries to chase Hart who runs away. Love is frightened and stays still. Warrior looks to the Hulkster who has his arms over his chest. WWF Officials run out to check on Hogan. Warrior gets angry and lifts the podium over his head and smashes it on the floor as Love runs away. Hogan is lifted on a stretcher. Warrior watches concerned and finds that the WWF Championship belt is on the stage. Warrior picks up the belt and shouts in anger. Vince and even Jesse are in total shock. The fans are silent and in shock and kids are practically in tears. Vince hopes to get more info soon on Hogan's condition.

Video shown about Hulk Hogan's injury on WWF Superstars. Gorilla: Hulk Hogan is in critical condition after that attack. Heenan: You know I didn't think it would go this far and yes I do condemn this attack. Gorilla: Well I'm glad you agree with me on this one. Heenan: Of course I do because Mr. Perfect had his chance to become the World's Heavyweight Champion...now? Who knows honestly who knows what happens next. Gorilla: WWF President Jack Tunney will be making an announcement soon about the status of the World's Heavyweight Championship. But first Ravishing Rick Rude challenging the current Intercontinental Championship the Ultimate Warrior and we'll take you there in action... Warrior starts to shake the ropes to hype the crowd. Rude gets up and counters Warrior with a hip toss and a few chops but Warrior barely feels it. Warrior pushes Rude so hard that Rude falls out the ring. Gorilla says that the Warrior has become more powerful than he ever imagined. Rick Rude can't believe it and gradually enters the ring as Warrior runs for a clothesline, Rick Rude counters and hits a belly to back suplex. Rude lands kicks and goes for the camel clutch. Warrior manages to lift Rude up on his shoulders, but Rude goes for the sleeper hold as Warrior struggles. Warrior finally goes on his knees for the two count. Warrior grabs the ropes and elbows Rude three times. Warrior hits the ropes and goes for a flying shoulder block. He lifts Rude for the Gorilla Press, but Rude counters and quickly hits the Rude Awakening (without theatrics) for the pin to two. WWF Superstars of Wrestling June 2nd, 1990 (May 15 taping) Hosts: Vince McMahon & Jesse "the Body" VenturaNotable Matches: Nikolai Volkoff def. Boris Zhukov via DQ.
The "Macho King" Randy Savage def. George Anderson (jobber) via pinfall.__________________________________ Official Statement from President Jack Tunney regarding Hulk Hogan and the WWF World's Heavyweight Championship: "On May 26th, during the Brother Love Show, the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan was viciously attacked by Earthquake that led to Hulk Hogan suffering a near career-ending injury. For the last six years the World Wrestling Federation was honored by a true Champion of the Ring. His success, fortitude, courage and bravery was unmatched in the last fifty years. As much as we respect Hulk Hogan for what he has done however, based on WWF regulations, an injury does not excuse a champion from defending a Championship title.
As much as it displeases me to say this, I must therefore take action and strip Hulk Hogan of the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship. Now that the Championship is officially declared to be Vacant, I will be speaking to WWF Officials in the coming days to announce further plans for the title in order to award a new Champion. Although too early, if Hulk Hogan is able to recover and return in the near future, in honor of fairness, we will allow him to have a title shot for the Championship versus whoever will be the next WWF Champion.
As for Earthquake, the World Wrestling Federation ordered a suspension the day of the attack. Earthquake however filed an appeal. We were well aware of his illness during the show and we have granted him a probationary status within the WWF. This means such actions if they are ever to happen again, will result in suspension and/or termination. As for Jimmy Hart, since he must take on managerial duties for Earthquake, we have decided to fine him for $2,000 for provoking the attack.
On behalf of the World Wrestling Federation, our thoughts and prayers are with Hulk Hogan and his family and we hope to see Hulk Hogan return soon."__________________________________ Vince: I can't believe that Jack Tunney has stripped the WWF Heavyweight Championship from Hulk Hogan! Jesse: Maybe Hulk Hogan deserved to stay on as champion after all he's given to the WWF, but I say it's about time we get a new champion McMahon.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling June 23rd, 1990 (June 6 taping) Hosts: Vince McMahon & Jesse "the Body" Ventura
New announcement from WWF President Jack Tunney at the beginning of the show: "The World Wrestling Federation has come to a decision regarding the vacancy of the WWF Heavyweight Championship. After careful consideration and review of WWF Superstars, we have selected the top four Superstars who qualify for the Championship. It was a difficult decision for us. Earthquake was one choice, but since he is on probation for his attack on Hulk Hogan we have denied him a shot at the World Championship, though he may challenge for other titles.
One of the members of the Board filed a petition in favor of the Ultimate Warrior as a top contender, however he currently holds the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Therefore if the Ultimate Warrior wishes to ever challenge for the WWF Heavyweight Championship, he must surrender to us the Intercontinental Championship or lose it in a match.
The top four contenders are as follows: Rowdy Roddy Piper, the Big Boss Man, Mr. Perfect managed by Bobby Heenan and Randy "Macho King" Savage managed by Queen Sherri. To determine a winner, we will have a Semi-Finalist tournament held on July 28th on Saturday Night's Main Event. Rowdy Roddy Piper will take on Mr. Perfect, while the Big Boss Man will take on Randy Savage. The winners will go to SummerSlam in a match for the Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship."__________________________________
Vince: Can you believe it Jesse? Jesse: What a Saturday's Night Main Event that will be. I can't wait to see who will become the next WWF Champion McMahon. Vince: That's correct what a night that'll be as we have Rick Rude taking on the Intercontinental Champion, the Ultimate Warrior. Also in action is the Tag Team Champions the Demolition taking on the No.1 Contenders The Rockers.

Hulk Hogan Shoot Interview: Interviewer: So you lose at Wrestlemania VI for the first time and then you are attacked by Earthquake and because of your injury you lose the title two months later. Some believe you should've dropped the title to Warrior... Hulk Hogan: If I knew the kind of guy Warrior was I would've never even done the job to Warrior in the first place. In fact Vince wanted to give him the title at Wrestlemania VI, but I told Vince "hey brother he's not ready". So we had a fallout because I also asked for time off and he demanded I drop the belt too. I was exhausted and worn out and Vince knew that too. I was finally willing to drop the title but I thought about dropping it to someone Warrior can go against down the road. He needed a strong heel. Warrior really needed time to build feuds that could work before getting the Championship so he could carry the company. I'm not sure what changed Vince's mind but he finally agreed to make it non-title (WMVI). So I went on as Champion and dropped it when I needed time off and it worked out for the better. Interviewer: What were you doing during your time off? Hulk Hogan: It was vacation time for me, I was also looking into movies and commercials. I kind of wanted to do something other than wrestling, but family comes first. Interviewer: Weren't you doing Surburban Commando (film)? Hulk Hogan: No that was after, I think it started around September. It was fun, but that movie took a year to release and where the WWF was headed and my career, I knew had to continue Wrestling.

_______________________________________ The Brother Love show begins in the ring, Hulk Hogan's partly torn shirt is on display, as well as a poster of Hulk Hogan. Jimmy Hart and Earthquake make there way out with Dino Bravo. Love: I...love...you...my loving WWF fans I must say that I have finally gotten Earthquake to come to my show and tonight they have a special announcement. Earthquake: It's great to be here and I want to be remembered as the one who ended Hulkamania once and for all. Hart: That's right because look at the torn shirt...this is the symbol of Hulkamania as it has crumbled baby. Love: You've done the world a service Earthquake, but I must say...it's unfair that the WWF put you on probation otherwise you would get my vote for the World title. Earthquake: No comment...but I have a gift for you Brother Love and for the world. Love: What is it? Hart: After the 10.0 Magnitude of an Earthquake that ended Hulkamania...the after-shock is coming baby. Earthquake grabs Hogan's poster and places it on the mat, while Dino Bravo places the torn shirt over the poster. Earthquake does the sit-down splash over the poster and shirt as the rest laugh. Suddenly the Ultimate Warrior runs out to the ring. Hart and Bravo leave the ring. Love: Can't you see this is a celebration... Warrior: I will not let you desecrate Ho-Komania because Ho-Komania is inside all of the little Warriors and I can feel the Spirit of Ho-Kogan within me! Love: (Hart slowly get in the ring) Well well...if it's in you than I'm sure someone wants to take it out of you (laughs) and here is the man who isn't afraid of you. Earthquake: That's right Warrior, just like I ended Hulkamania...I think the world deserves to see the end of the Warriors. Warrior: As the ancients watch.... (Dino Bravo has a chair and sneaks up behind the Warrior and hits him) Earthquake clotheslines Warrior as Warrior tries to gets up, Bravo and Quake start landing kicks. Bravo grabs the chair again as Earthquake holds Warrior, Bravo swings the chair, but Warrior ducks and the chair smashes over Earthquakes head. Earthquake is dazed and falls on the mat. Warrior starts getting pumped even as Bravo lands punches, Warrior clotheslines Bravo outside of the ring and lands a punch on Hart who also falls outside the ring. Earthquake is up and it's a stare-down with the Warrior. Warrior gnarls in his face and Earthquake lands a few punches, Warrior feels them and Earthquake whips Warrior to a corner and hits a corner body splash. Warrior falls on the mat. Earthquake takes the IC title belt from Warrior and holds it up high. He drops the belt and leaves. Warrior gets up and runs out of the ring.

WWF Primetime Wrestling July 16th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby "the Brain" HeenanGorilla: We've got some exciting news, Hulk Hogan will be making an announcement on Saturday Night's Main Event on July 28th, and I can't wait for it. Heenan: I honestly can't wait for it either because not only will Hulk Hogan announce his retirement, but Mr. Perfect will go on to become a finalist for the World's Heavyweight Championship. Gorilla: I don't doubt Mr. Perfect's capability but... Heenan: Perfect is undefeated, he's beaten the best of the best... Gorilla: Do you believe that Hulk Hogan will announce his retirement? Heenan: Of course, he suffered a career-ending injury and probably won't be able to wrestle anymore. But I still want to see what he has to say. Gorilla: While we wait for that folks coming up in just a moment is a match in progress with the Big Bossman taking on Dino Bravo. Big Bossman def. Dino Bravo (w/Jimmy Hart) via DQ as Hart interfered in the match. Bossman dedicated the match to Hulk Hogan. Gorilla: You know Big Bossman deserves to get a shot at the World title Brain and this match proves he has what it takes. Heenan: Are you kidding me? He hasn't had the Perfect experience and now he wants to go for the World Championship? I wonder if Jack Tunney is getting a "Get out of Jail Free" card under the table. Gorilla: O give me a break. Well folks Saturday Night's Main Event is coming soon and Rick Rude had this to say about the Ultimate Warrior: Rick Rude promo: "You think you're so tough Ultimate Warrior, well I've been hitting the gym day in and day out getting ready to take back the Intercontinental Championship that belonged to me at Saturday Night's Main Event. While I'm a free agent, I have formed a friendly alliance with the likes of the Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart and Earthquake and guess what...they'll be by my side watching this one (laughs)."

Jesse shouts "what in the world is Kerry von Erich doing here? He's held multiple championships from around the world McMahon." Kerry runs in (ref doesn't notice as he was knocked out earlier and was recovering) and Kerry does a massive Tornado Punch on the Macho Man as Big Boss Man pins him with a small package for the win. Winner: Big Boss Man via pinfall and Finalist for the WWF Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam._______________________________________________ Demolition (c) vs. The Rockers for the WWF Tag Team Championships.Crush and Smash are working in the ring and Ax makes an appearance by ringside taking turns with Crush and helps the Demolition defend their titles by pinning Marty Jannety. Perfect gets out of the ring and Piper continues to go after him. Perfect lands a flying knee to finally break Piper. Perfect works on Piper's legs and back, but Piper goes nuts and starts to land constant punches and kicks. Perfect is annoyed and counters with a hip toss, whips Piper to the ropes, but Piper counters with a sleeperhold. Perfect is outcold, but manages to awaken at two from the arm count and hits a german suplex. Perfect goes to the top ropes and hits a flying dropkick on Piper for the pin to two. The match continues on the outside and it's a brawl, till Piper tosses Perfect to the railings and back into the ring. Piper is a nutcase as Jesse calls him and he goes after Perfect as Heenan grabs a hold of Piper's legs, Piper starts beating on Heenan on the outside landing punches even as Heenan is on the floor. Perfect gets out and jumps into Piper's legs. Piper is hurt. Perfect tosses Piper in the ring near the ringpost. He grabs one leg and does a groin-to-post attack and another leg attack. Jesse says he loves how Perfect is playing dirty just like Piper. Perfect gets back in the ring and gets Piper up, but Piper DDT's Perfect for the pin to two. Piper's leg is hurt as he sells it well, as he gets Perfect up, Perfect hits a small package locking on Piper's weak leg for the win. Winner: Mr. Perfect via pinfall and Finalist for the WWF Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.Vince shouts that he can't believe it. Jesse says it's the first time Piper was pinned in the last six years (Jimmy Snuka last did so). Perfect and Heenan celebrate in the ring. SummerSlam will host Big Bossman vs. Mr. Perfect for the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship. _______________________________________________ Vince McMahon is in the middle of the ring and calls out Hulk Hogan to a massive pop as Hulk Hogan walks out (real american music is on) with a pair of jeans and a dark red shirt (instead of a bright one) with Hulkamania logo and a dark red bandanna. The crowd gets so loud when Hogan enters the ring, Vince holds his finger in his ear. Vince: Hulk Hogan the first thing everyone wants to know is how is your condition? Hogan: Never been better brother (fans cheer). You know it's great to see all these fans out here, but first I want to thank every single person who wrote a letter to me and I promise to write back to all of you as the letters continue to come to me. Vince: We are all excited to see you here and the world wants to know will you ever come back and compete here in the World Wrestling Federation? Hogan: You know something Vince McMahon, its been a tough couple of months because as my ribs were crushed to dust and when I saw all those tears from my little Hulkamaniacs pouring like rain, as I lay there in the hospital all I kept thinking about was getting my hands on that nasty Earthquake...and thank God that the Ultimate Warrior has led the charge of Hulkamania after I was gone. But the truth is Vince...(softly) the truth is I was more devestated to what happened to me thereafter. Vince: What is it Hulk? Hogan: The truth is when I lay there in my hospital bed in recovery, as I had the best doctor's checking up on me, I turned on the TV in my room and there he was sitting in his chair, President Jack Tunney. And as I grabbed the remote to turn up the volume his words were heard around the world and he took away from me the one thing in my life that meant more to me and my Hulkamaniacs than the WWF brother...he took away the World's Heavyweight Championship (fans boo) from me, stripped it from me as though he took a piece of my soul. When I heard it, I got back up when I shouldn't have, ripped apart the IV strips from my veins and twenty-four inch pythons, packed my bags and went for a phone down the hall. I called up Jack Tunney and the only thing he could do is apologize and hanged up the phone on me. Vince: Hulk Hogan I'm sure that Jack Tunney did what he believed was the best for the WWF and if I recall WWF regulations... Hogan: Where were the regulations when I was attacked by Earthquake? Where were the WWF Officials who could've stop it all from happening, but instead stood there watching? Where was Jack Tunney? (camera pans to a woman nodding) Vince: I'm sure that... Hogan: No Vince McMahon, Jack Tunney does what he does best, take away titles because he knew that Hulkamania was the strongest force in the WWF brother and this wasn't the first time he stripped the WWF championship when he saw fit. Vince: I don't think I like where this is going Hulk... Hogan: Just hear all the Hulkamaniacs out here (fans cheer). They all know the truth, they all know that time and time again someone tries to bring us down brother...but not now because I know for a fact that I am back better than ever. Vince: To make it clear you are ready to return to the squared circle and compete? Hogan: (shouts loudly) Yes! (fans cheer) Vince: Wow, Ladies and gentlemen welcome back Hulk Hogan! (standing ovation) Hogan: I'm not done here Vince McMahon because at SummerSlam, yes at SummerSlam I'm taking Jack Tunney's offer for a title shot and I am challenging whoever will be the new World Wrestling Federation Champion that same night... Vince: I'm not sure if Jack Tunney will agree Hulkster... Hogan: Whether Jack Tunney likes it or not, after I'm done getting back what is ours Hulkamaniacs, what you're going to do Earthquake when Hulkamania pulls a stretcher on you (tears his shirt and poses). _______________________________________________ The Ultimate Warrior (c) vs. Rick Rude (w/Jimmy Hart and Earthquake) for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Warrior makes his way out with Rude in the ring. Jimmy Hart and Earthquake are at ringside watching. Warrior goes after Rude and starts landing punches. He lands three clotheslines and hits the ropes for a flying shoulder block. Warrior lifts Rude for the Gorilla press early on and lands a splash, but the referee is distracted by Jimmy Hart to count. Warrior gets angry and argues with the referee. Rude hits a quick Rude Awakening for the pin to two. Warrior is hurt and Rude captilizes landing kicks and punches. He lifts Warrior on a corner and on the second tope hits a superplex. Rude gets Warrior up for another Rude Awakening, but Warrior counters and shoving Rude to a corner for the ten punch from the top. Warrior whips Rude to the ropes and hits the flying shoulder block. Warrior goes for the splash, but Hart grabs his legs. Warrior runs out and lands a punch on Hart who is knocked out. Earthquake however clotheslines Warrior. Rude distracts the referee as Earthquake on the outside sit-down splashes Warrior. He tosses Warrior inside. Rude pins Warrior to two. Warrior is holding on to his chest in extreme pain, Rude hits a Rude Awakening as Earthquake akin to Heenan at Wrestlemania V, holds unto Warrior's legs (as Warrior struggles to kickout) from the outside for the pin. Winner: Rick Rude via pinfall and NEW WWF Intercontinental ChampionRude celebrates with the title as Earthquake enters the ring. Rude leaves with the belt. Warrior is outcold. Earthquake starts his tremors and hits the ropes for the sit-down splash. Earthquake sits on Warrior and laughs as Jimmy Hart is up and they leave Warrior in the middle of the ring to be looked after by WWF Officials. Vince: What an atrocity! Earthquake is on probation! Jesse: The Warrior was the one who provoked him! He attacked Jimmy Hart and had no right to do so.

WWF Primetime Wrestling July 30th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby "the Brain" HeenanHighlights from Saturday Night's Main Event shown. Heenan: I told you Monsoon that Mr. Perfect was going to be in the finals and he will walk out as the Undisputed World's Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam. Gorilla: I don't doubt that as a possibility after seeing his match with Piper. What a great Saturday Night's Main Event it was however there are many questions unanswered and President Jack Tunney is standing by to make an official statement...let's take a look. Official Statement by Jack Tunney: "It has come to my attention that on July 28th, Kerry von Erich interfered in the World Title tournament and attacked Randy Savage. Kerry has held multiple championships around the world and we welcome him to the World Wrestling Federation. However because of such an act we will permit Randy "Macho Man" Savage to challenge for the WWF Championship at anytime after SummerSlam.
It has also come to my attention that Earthquake interfered in the Intercontinental Championship match with the Ultimate Warrior and Rick Rude. We will allow Rick Rude to stay on as champion and suspend Earthquake from competing in the WWF till SummerSlam when the Ultimate Warrior will take on Earthquake in the main event.
As for Hulk Hogan, we respect his request to challenge whoever will be the next World Wrestling Federation Champion at SummerSlam between Mr. Perfect and the Big Bossman. However, we have not received a Doctor's Clearance that Hulk Hogan is able to wrestle again. If Hulk Hogan is not able to produce such a clearance in time, we will therefore be forced to forfeit Hulk Hogan's challenge for the title. On the other hand we still invite Hulk Hogan to attend SummerSlam as a Special Guest and as a Special Guest he will honor the next Champion by presenting the World's Heavyweight Championship belt to either Mr. Perfect or the Big Bossman."Due to the excitement that is SummerSlam, a special event known as "SummerSlam Fever" will be shown on the USA Network at 8:00pm EST on August 19th, 1990 where WWF SuperStars and fans around the world will have a taste for the upcoming SummerSlam Pay-Per-View. We have sent a memo regarding the event to WWF Officials and Superstars. Thank you." Gorilla: It just so happens I have the memo with me. Heenan: This is great, as much as for the first time I felt slightly bad for Hulk Hogan being injured by Earthquake, I'm glad he won't be able to compete at SummerSlam at all! Gorilla: If he gets his Doctor's clearance he'll have a match at SummerSlam and for the World Title, he has that right. Anyhow folks SummerSlam Fever will feature great matches such as: Sgt. Slaughter of the World Powers (a new Tag Team alliance consisting of two babyfaces Sgt. Slaughter an American military hero and the Russian American-sympathizer Nikolai Volkoff) will be taking on Boris Zhukov in Singles competition. Kerry von Erich will have a lot to prove if he wants to take on the Macho Man as he'll be in a match against the Warlord. Dusty Rhodes (w/Sapphire) will take on Rick Rude for the WWF Intercontinental Championship and get this...I've heard a rumour that Queen Sherri has been signed on as Rick Rude's new manager. What do you got to say about that Brain? Heenan: Rude deserves to be the champion again, and I wish him the best of luck because it won't matter as I will manage the next Heavyweight Champion of the World and I just can't wait.

Hogan: Well you know something Mean Gene, I've been to the mountain top, I've seen what it's all about. I've toppled giants and beaten macho men, but once again Mean Gene (takes off his glasses and gets angry) once again Jack Tunney has found a way to try to ruin Hulkamania brother. Gene: I don't think he means to do so Hulkster. Hogan: How many times did WWF Superstars enter the ring disobeying doctor's orders? How many times? Tell me Mean Gene. Gene: You know you do have a certain point, but I'm sure that Jack Tunney means well. Hogan: How can you say that Mean Gene? How could Jack Tunney mean well when he took away the WWF Championship, when he asks for a Doctor's clearance for a match I so deserve. Why do I need to prove I'm ready? Put me in a match right now I'm more than ready. Gene: Hulk Hogan the world wants to know do you have a Doctor's clearance for SummerSlam so that you will face whoever will be the next World's Champion? Hogan: You know something Mean Gene, watch SummerSlam and I'll show Jack Tunney what a Doctor's Clearance is all about (leaves angry). Gene: Wow...we'll just have to wait and see at SummerSlam! Back to you Vince. ______________________________________________ Mr. Perfect (w/Bobby Heenan) def. Ronnie Garvin (jobber) via pinfall.
Rick Rude (c) (w/Queen Sherri) def. Dusty Rhodes (w/Sapphire) to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
