I don't see how they didn't capitalise on the momentum he had by winning at summerslam. He was destroying everyone then to put it off like they did was a massive nail in the coffin.

The worst thing about Goldberg not winning at Summerslam was that HHH was legit injured. There was ZERO reason for him to hold the strap until he did. Bill was white hot in front of his hometown then he ran into a sledgehammer. YAWN.
Also the bounty HHH put on him was pathetic by 2003 standards. It was botch after botch with Bill.

Can't see any other reason for it other than ego's. Hard to recover from that Relentless WWE defenders will tell you HHH was correct to lobby to have the outcome changed to what we got....His reasoning being they would buy the next PPV in droves to watch him get beat after the LENGHTY Evolution beatdown. They were of course wrong. If anything most people thought we were onto a Steiner situation where they thought Goldberg would be beaten again....I know I did. Original booking was that Goldberg was meant to wipe the mat with all before him & HHH like he did but just spear him and pin him. There would be no jackhammer because of trippers groin injury(which was a good call) |
