McGregor has left the FW division in shambles. Not bashing the guy, kudos to him for his accomplishments. But to place Aldo as the new champ damages the legitimacy of this title run in my opinion. Similar to Cormier holding the belt after Jones was stripped, there will always be that asterisk next to their record discussing how they're both holding titles that were previously held by the guy who last beat them. But to be fair to Cormier, at least he still had to compete in a dog fight with Rumble before he got the belt.

ESPN reported yesterday that Connor reliquished the title and opted to compete in the lightweight division. WTF?! I agree McGregor needs to defend the FW belt and I would go as far as having UFC set a date that he has to fight by. But to just outright strip him....total BS to treat THE top guy in the UFC. Yeah, I agree. When I posted that it was still very early in the proceedings, because the thinking behind Aldo, Pettis and Holloway in the mix was just a deluge of information that didn't make sense... After I posted, I went to google and started reading that some outlets are in fact reporting he was stripped as his girl is preggo and he is taking the early part of 2017 off for the birth of the kid and rest. Dude deserves it. How many times did he fight this year?! A LOT! He had 2 ing wars with Diaz and 3 title fights in 2 different divisions....winning all 3. I think he has earned the break. Like I said....I understand the need for a champion to defend. But lets be fair to the guy. He has carried this company this year. He is the biggest draw. He is a dominant force. I dont expect Dana to drop to his knees. But lets just show a little common courtesy to your hottest commodity....dude has more than earned it. I'd suggest letting him have the first 3 months off. Come back and schedule his FW match in the Summer. Use that time to work out who is the true #1 contender. Aldo...in or out? Time to crapor get off the pot. Following that fight...set up a fall /winter fight for the LW belt. A rematch isnt gonna happen since the fight was dominated by Connor.

While I completely, wholeheartedly see where you're coming from, I have to also respectfully disagree to an extent. I agree that he is the biggest draw, and I definitely agree that the guy has fought his ass off this past year and a half or so, but from a standpoint of looking at the stability of the featherweight division, I think keeping the belt strapped on McGregor for too long would end up hurting the division and the UFC as whole in the long run. Keeping the belt out of competition for 11 months in any weight class is detrimental in my opinion, and keeping it out for an even longer amount of time would inevitably cause guys who have been waiting in line this whole time for a shot (Holloway, Llamas, Edgar (although he lost to Aldo at 200 for the interim belt, I think another win or two puts him right back up there in contention) to have wait even longer, which in turn makes it difficult to build guys up in that division, or causes them to grow frustrated all together and either switch weight classes, or jump ship to Bellator. I guess in short, I just feel as though its about time these guys who have been waiting on a shot get their shot. On a side note, enough of this interim crap. It certainly is necessary in certain situations (long term injuries *sometimes), but not this one. Pettis and Holloway do not need to be fighting for the interim title. The divisions are almost tainted nowadays to where its hard to keep track of who truly is champ for me with the all the interim title fights floating around anymore.

The divisions are almost tainted nowadays to where its hard to keep track of who truly is champ for me with the all the interim title fights floating around anymore. I agree with you on a business standpoint and how it affects the FW division. But MMA is a sport first and UFC is a business second. If UFC is going to do whats "best for business" in every case...then they might as well become WWE. The fact that someone EARNS a title by beating the best that was in that division and has not been beaten for it and you want to take that away from him...is becoming sports entertainment. Are you sport or sports entertainment? I'll go as far as saying that UFC has every right to enforce their rules. But keep in mind, UFC SANCTIONED these fights for Connor and reveled in the profits he brought in for the company. If the FW division and its fighters meant that much more...UFC would have pulled their trump card and forced Connor into a FW title fight. It was Dana who said Connor had to defend the FW title before he was gonna sign off on a LW title fight after UFC 200 debacle. As far as fighters leaving for Bellator...I would equate this to wrestlers leaving WWE for TNA right now. Sorry...UFC is the big leagues. You can fight in Bellator and you can be dominant. But I will always think you are a second rate fighter until you get to UFC and prove your worth. Thats not to take away from the talent at Bellator. Its to say that the best in the world fight for UFC.

My brother, cousin, and I want to go to the ufc show in Brooklyn in February, but only if our fellow Croatian Stipe Miocic will be the main event. Do you guys think his next fight will be in Brooklyn on Feb. 11?
I can't believe there is no main event announced for ufc 208 in January. Maybe the return of Nick Diaz?

All I know so far is UFC 208 has been moved to the Barclays Center...originally it was to be In California I believe.
McGregor now has a boxing license. Good for him.

Do you guys think his next fight will be in Brooklyn on Feb. 11? ...sorry mate, but I think it's extremely unlikely that Stipe fights on the Feb. 11th show - the official title eliminator/number 1 contender's match (between Cain and Werdum) is on December 30th, so it would be a VERY quick turn-around for either to fight again on Feb. 11th. Plus, Cain has said he's having surgery after the fight - so if he wins (...which he will... ), the fight with Stipe wouldn't happen for 3-4 months at least.

The fight with Floyd is more interesting than ANY potential McGregor UFC matchup. I just hate the idea of a boxing fight. They should find a way to mix MMA and boxing. This just gives Floyd such a huge advantage. Though I find it ing laughable how all these analysts say Floyd would destroy Connor and knock him out in minutes, unless he chose to toy with him for a bit. Floyd may very well win. But I bet 100 million dollars it aint by ing KO. Floyd is a defensive boxer and I cant even remember the last time he knocked someone out.

I'm pretty sure the Werdum/Cain rematch is an "official" title eliminator though (ie. no.1 contender's match). If Cain wins and is out a while though, who knows? They could well go with JDS.

Sucks to hear the new UFC owners laid off Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes.
It is good to hear that both guys have taken it in stride though.

Jake Ellenberger loses because his toe gets caught in the cage? That's a load of crap.

No stopping Johnson eh? Probably the best P4P fighter right now by far.

I think Cejudo should have gotten the decision in his fight.

Very baffling decision on the Ellenberger fight. I can't wrap my head around how that can be dismissed as a TKO stoppage because you paused the fight to help get him unstuck. The fact that Herb even felt compelled to immediately ask if it was ok that he "paused" the fight is what confuses me. You'd think as a ref he'd try to help Jake purely on instinct and quickly try to make the action resume. Even though Masvidal was lighting him up the whole fight it was a bit unfair to both of them. I wonder if Jake will manage to appeal and make it a NC.
Good on Elliot for making it an interesting fight, but Johnson is on top of his s**t.

No stopping Johnson eh? Probably the best P4P fighter right now by far. Yeah... looks like he'll probably break Anderson's 10 successful title defences next year too. It's a shame really that he doesn't have many (any?) decent challengers or big/high-profile fights... his great run is kind of going under the radar.

I can't believe Pettis missed weight. What a disaster that whole situation has become.
