First off, knowing that Mauro and Mike Goldberg will commentate at Bellator, I might want to watch the PPV.
Second, FINALLY the deal is made for Mayweather vs McGregor. What a great coincidence that im throwing a barbecue with me and my friends that same day. I can't wait for this fight. My early prediction, if it goes to the judges, Mayweather is definitely winning. I think McGregor has great punching power to knock Mayweather out

Hmmm... I can't help feeling that as a boxing contest, under boxing rules, Mayweather/McGregor will be a really one-sided affair. Still, the build-up and trash-talk should be great!

Personally, I'm kind of bummed that Mayweather/McGregor is happening when it's happening because the fight is taking place 3 weeks before the biggest fight since Money/Pacman in GGG/Canelo.
I'm as big a boxing fan as I am an MMA fan and boxing has had a pretty awesome year and I feel that Floyd/Conor is definitely going to take some buys from GGG/Canelo. It seems like the sport of boxing was recovering from the Floyd/Manny fight that every casual found to be boring and Golovkin/Alvarez is easily the biggest fight that the sport of boxing has, but the Mayweather/McGregor fight could take some shine off of it.
I expect Floyd/Conor to be nothing more than a money-grabbing chit-show. Mayweather can outbox Conor for 12 rounds and likely will try to do that since he wins using the path with least resistance and a path that has helped him avoid some of the long term effect of taking too many blows to the head. However, there are questions that this fight can provide. Can Conor successfully go 12 rounds with Floyd Mayweather without gassing like he did in the two Nate Diaz fights? Can Conor somehow land the devastating left that can trouble Floyd? Hell, you can ask the question of "Will Floyd seeking a KO if the chance were to arise?", although I highly doubt it.
Many people are looking forward to this fight, but I would feel kind of dirty for shelling out the money for this circus show. Still, I'm quite surprised that Floyd/Conor is even happening because I feel that Floyd has so much to lose than anything to gain from beating Conor, other than another 8-9 figure payday for a perceived easy fight.

I'm a life long Boxing fan, and to me, this is nothing more than a money grab and a spectacle. I'm in the camp that believe McGregor has no chance and there are going to be rounds where he does not land a punch.
I don't care for Floyd, but he is an all time great and maybe the greatest defensive boxer in the history of the sport. He wanted one more huge payday and apparently this is it. I know a lot of boxing fans that have no interest in this, but you tell the public it's a big deal and they eat it up.
Instead of Floyd risking his perfect record against a Thurman, Spence, Charlo, or preferably, though weight class is an issue, the GGG/Alvarez winner, he does this.
I don't really blame him though. More $$, likely easier opponent, his age, long layoff, why risk the undefeated record to a top ranked boxer? I hope for the best, hope people are entertained, but I see a 1sided affair. My money will go to Canelo/GGG.

I'll definitely order Floyd Vs Conor - but I'd have preferred Conor Vs Khabib and something like Mayweather Vs the GGG/Canelo winner instead. But we're probably in the minority - Floyd Vs Conor is going to appeal to a lot of casual fans and has that Boxing Vs MMA "uniqueness" to it. I do wonder if this means we've seen the last of Conor in the UFC though... the guy's going to be set for life (heck, many lifetimes!), so really will have no need to fight on. I suppose if he gets KO'd or totally outclassed, he might want to redeem himself(?).

I hate to even type this out but it sounds like Matt Hughes was in a BAD car accident. Reports are saying his truck possibly collided with a train and Matt had to be Medi-flighted out of there. His current condition is unknown. Keep the champ in your thoughts today fellas.

He has head trauma. Christ that sucks. One of my faves.
He was helping a friend in Illinois when it happened.

RAYMOND, Ill. (AP) — Illinois State Police say former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes was injured in a collision between a pickup truck and train.
Police say the pickup was traveling on a road in central Illinois Friday when the driver crossed railroad tracks marked with a warning. The vehicle was struck on the passenger side.
The 43-year-old Hughes of Hillsboro, Illinois was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
In a statement, the hospital reported a trauma team stabilized Hughes and passed on a request from the Hughes family asking for privacy.
Hughes was a celebrated mixed-martial-arts fighter before retiring in 2011 and is a member of the UFC's Hall of Fame.
UFC spokesman David Lockett said the group will respect Hughes' family's privacy and "keep Matt and his family in our prayers."

Happy to hear Holm get the W. She needed it bad. Great KO for her. Sad to see Gomi take the loss, big fan of his, dude's definitely getting up there in age though.

Sad to report UFC Veteran Tim Hauge has been declared brain dead after his boxing match last night. Very unfortunate. I didn't see the fight but it sounds like the round before he was KO'ed he was dropped a total of 3 times.
He was only 33.

Not really familiar with Hague but that's a shocking way to go.

Only read about this, but Matt Mitrione knocked out Fedor in the first round at Bellator 180...crazy!! After an even crazier double knockdown too! Can't say I'm a fan of Mitrione but it was the biggest win of his career to date. Good for him. (Go Warriors...)

Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderli was bad but Chael's promo was hilarious.

He's still one of the greatest ever IMO, but I feel the Fedor we all know and love has gone and won't ever come back.
