Stephens said he went for the knee, as the ref told him (in the pre-fight talk) that you're allowed to kick a grounded opponent who has their hand up (...I think the ruling is the opponent has to be on their feet though) - it's all a bit confusing, so you can't really blame him for going for it in the heat of battle(!).
I don't think he purposefully meant to hit the back of the head either (with the elbows)... it seemed more a case of Emmett turning his head as the elbows landed.

I don't think he purposefully meant to hit the back of the head either (with the elbows)... it seemed more a case of Emmett turning his head as the elbows landed. I feel it was a combination of goof ups on multiple ends that lead to it ending like that. 1.Stephens was going in for the kill and you can't blame him for trying to finish the fight. 2. Josh was trying to STAY in the fight and trying to pull guard or at least lock up Stephens. So with his attempt at doing that while also trying to get his gears back he left himself susceptible to those shots. 3. Suspect elbows or not, that knee was a little too blatant for me (I know it grazed him, but that's still a connected shot). Mirgilotta should've seperated them right then and there. The old rule (simplified) was three limbs on the ground was considered a grounded opponent, for example, the Mousasi/Weidman fight ended because Weidman tried to take advantage of that old rule. New rule (to my understanding) you have to be on your knees to avoid knees and kicks from your opponent. Emmett was turtled up on both knees when it was thrown which (to me) is reason enough for Dan to at LEAST stop the action and warn Stephens. Could've changed the entire outcome of the fight, but honestly it's all done and over with unless Emmett catches the replay and decides to appeal. Update on Josh BTW! 3 fractures in his orbital...Ouch. http://instagram.com/p/Bfo4e-7DNk0

First off, i got mixed feelings about Jon Jones getting his license revoked. Like i wanted to believe he didn't willingly take steroids ,but if the commission thought he didnt have enough proof, then yeah. At least he can reapply im August of next year. Be interesting to see what happens then, and also with the USADA hearing coming up.
Also, F*** Colby for his tweet about Mike Perry's girlfriend. Like s*** on Mike Perry all you want, but leave his girl out of it. Can't believe im saying this, but if he and Tyron were to ever fight for the belt, id root for Tyron to knock Colby the f*** out.

Brian Ortega is gonna rip max a new one.
Took me a while to get on the bandwagon, but damn. These last 2 fights have been nothing short of exceptional. And new. Soon.

Super-impressed by Ortega... the guy's incredible. Holloway is pretty incredible too though... I wouldn't like to pick a winner(!). And big props to Frankie Edgar for taking that fight... he could have easily sat-out and waited for a guaranteed title-fight (a la Tyron Woodley), but chose to stay active and fight a very dangerous contender. Gutted for Cat... really wanted her to win and rematch with Nunes for the title.

I think people have to accept that cat just isn't actually very good. 3 straight losses that she was never in the fight. Rousey submitted her in record time. Pena just ate her alive. Now ketlin Vieira owned her. She was down in the Tate fight before she caught her. I think current day nunes would make cat look like a child. Thank God we don't have to see that fight. But in more important news, did you guys see the way Derns ass jiggled all fight? Good Lord, I could barely watch the actual fight!

Can’t wait to see Ortega take MH out. Fights so smart and composed, is a killer. Would love to see him fight Conor some day once he gets those 2 titles himself, heh heh. He looked huge compared to Edgar and would be a challenge for Tony, Khabib is a different animal however but we shall see what Tony can do.
The O’Malley fight was nuts - impressed but shame we won’t see him for a while now, AS is such a dumb fighter, a victory gifted to him and he threw it away.
And yeah, oh my, Dern is a visual treat...she was wild, tho I wouldn’t wanna change her 😋

I couldn't concentrate on the actual Zingano fight, due to Cat's right boob trying to escape during most of it.

So nunes is defending against pennington? Lmfao. Raquel pennington is what passes as a number one contender at 135?
With rousey gone, Tate gone, shevchenko at 125 and Pena knocked up...worst division in the UFC easily.
Holm has lost like 4 of 5. Pennington is I think 10-6. Zingano hasnt won a fight in like 3 years. Just awful.

No. I stand corrected. She had the baby in January. But that's why she's been gone so long.

I really rather see Nunes vs Cyborg at UFC 226. Would have been awesome to see 3 superfights on International Fight Week. I hope DJ and TJ get confirmed for it, as well as Woodley vs RDA. I like seeing the PPV for International Fight Week as stacked as possible without ruining potential main events

But now she has cyborgs attention and she signs on for the pennington fight. I do love the 1 or 2 stacked cards every year thlugh

Why isn't Bisping fighting in London? I thought they said his retirement fight was going to be in London in March? Is he injured again?

Why isn't Bisping fighting in London? I thought they said his retirement fight was going to be in London in March? Is he injured again? I think it's a combination of not being able to work things out with the UFC in time - and needing a break/more time off, after taking the Gastelum fight (and being KO'd) on such short notice... he should never have been allowed to take that fight.
