Absolute not necessary. WrestleMania has come to be known as the night where part timers get the spotlight and the hell with the active roster. Because we all look forward to our most talented roster members in 8 man tag or ladder matches, and if they're *lucky* get squashed by a part timer! That's why we're on this board 52 weeks a year. Seriously, it's time. WWE's roster is the strongest it's been in forever and continues to improve year after year (and getting rid of Khali, Hornswoggle, El Torito, etc.). As long as there aren't a ton of injuries, I have faith WWE could produce an amazing WM without the help of unneeded, overpaid egos. Besides, those extra WM buys probably don't even generate revenue because they're just free trials who cancel after the first month. While I agree that the roster is stronger than perhaps...EVER. What we have is talented performers and yet none outside of Cena are actual icons to cross media. Not to mention you got talented guys being used like welcome mats...IE Cesaro. When Hogan/Austin/Rock were main-eventing WM, there were no "actual icons to cross media". I don't know why WWE doesn't ing get that WM is a wrestling show first and foremost. The biggest wrestling show of the year. The only people who are interested in the Network are wrestling fans. It is not worth sacrificing an entire generation of WWE's roster to allow 5 former established stars a spotlight once a year. That's a very narrow and unprofessional business decision. Time and time again, WWE proves to only care for the short term. the long term. the roster they give their all every moment of the year. the fans.

When the likes of someone like Sami Zayn can bring in 100,000 fans at a Mania in the main event, then they can do without part timers. But that will never happen. Because besides hardcore internet fans, or indy fans, a lot of these WWE superstars go unnoticed.
Fans who stopped watching in the past 10 years, still remembers guys like Austin, Rock, Triple H, DX, HBK, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and so forth. So those names help make Wrestlemania bigger, badder and better!

And that means bringing in the big names. Ultimately, it's a very simple equation -- any of us whining about part-timers are watching the show regardless of who is on it. We are the hardcore. We will be watching Survivor Series. But there's a more attractive audience that are only tuning in for the real stars. Without the real stars, Mania becomes just another show, except in a stadium. And without the real stars, the stadium may end up downgraded to an arena in a few years.

WWE has MILLIONS of viewers on a weekly bases and ~1.5 MILLION Network subscibers -> who are more than "casual" fans. Fandango vs. Bo Dallas could main event a sell-out 100,000 stadium because guess what...? People buy tickets to WM 6+ months in advance of the show knowing absolutely nothing about the show other than the location and date. You guys are in denial about how much the part timers actually contribute.

The day when they can do he same numbers w no part timers as with em, they'll prob do it.....but we are nowhere near that. Aj, Seth etc....tho they are my faves....they don't cross over or draw that big name number range like a Brock, rock, cena or even HHh do. The only way we will get a WM w no part timers is if wrestling has another boom period of popularity.

HHH recently renewed his contract as a wrestler for 3 more years, so we all know who will be main eventing Wrestlemania 33-35. Who? Cause the only reason Triple H was the champion at WM32 was due to all the injuries last year. Besides that, the last WM he main evented was Wm 25. So...

Part timers are necessary. WM is kind of like Church on Christmas. It draws huge, lots of people who dont religiously follow it but....its WM/Christmas mass....cant miss it. This is the one time a year you do attend. Yep. It's the time of year for all the legends to show up and have 5 minutes of screen time

People in the entertainment world know of those two icons. And yes, people do buy Wrestlemania tickets 6 months in advance, but after one time of seeing main events like Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens, or Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins, those casual fans that attend Wrestlemania for the stars wouldn't be attending again. We would end up with Wrestlemania being back in arenas again, like we saw in the mid and late 90s.

Oh boy, where do I begin? I don't care how "strong" the roster of today looks but drawing is the key term here. The WWE has been giving us 50-50 booking for too long which hurts the talents. Look at Dolph Ziggler here. He is good in both promos and in-ring. The reason he is damaged goods is because the WWE caused his steam and momentum die down on numerous occasions. Should Dolph Ziggler be a household name? I sure think so. He is easy to market, is over with the fans, and people would pay money to watch him perform. Why isn't Ziggler a household name? Blame on how the WWE booked him.
Another term to note is household name. How many legit household names the WWE has made in the last 6-7 years? The answer is none. The WWE has to resort to bringing in names from the past to help WrestleMania. Call these people band-aids. Talents like The Rock, Triple H, and even Brock Lesnar are just band-aids to help overcome the shortcomings of not building up new household names. These part-times who are household names have drawing ability to their names. Also, the stigma of being names that helped build the foundation. Without the band-aids the current roster isn't enough to help draw and fill a large stadium. If the WWE created new household names, they wouldn't have this issue.
Having an up and comer losing at WrestleMania hurts them a lot. The casual fans who watch WrestleMania see that these newer guys mean nothing. It made no sense jobbing Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX and Dean Ambrose at 'Mania XXXII. If the WWE continues this trend, their shooting themselves in the ass. A loss wouldn't hurt these part timers. Establishing a slew of new household names is a must. Establishing them as such would make the business much healthier in the long run. The future generation of talents would benefit as well.

There will always be part timers at Wrestlemania. The superstars of today will eventually WANT to wind it down to part time, and the incentive of still working Mania will have them back in boots come January of each year. Once Taker,HHH,and Rock are done making annual Mania appearences ,the likes of Cena, Orton, and even AJ Styles ,will one day be the part timers who show up to face the newest generations top guys. Its Wrestlemania.....the spectacle of the event is made to be special. Part timers who used to be monthly main eventers will always add the "special attraction" feel that particular event needs.

Another way to look at it What was the most anticipated match at wm 30 - Bryan vs Orton can Batista (part timer) What was the most anticipated match at wm 31 - Hhh (part timer) vs Sting (part timer) What was the most anticipated match at wm 32 - Shane (part timer) vs Undertaker (part timer) Part timers draw For a start no one cared about Batista infact no one wanted him anywhere near Mania. Sting Vs HHH I did enjoy. Shane VS Taker I thought was disliked by the majority and it was built around a story that made no sense. Also from what I remember Sting didn't bring up Raw's rating leading into Night of Champions.

You guys are in denial about how much the part timers actually contribute. Look at Summerslam as an example. They let Orton and Lesnar main event the PPV instead of Balor and Rollins which was a much better match. Also lets look back at the Monday night wars. You had WWF with it's young guys VS WCW with most of WWF's old stars. At the time WCW had Hogan, Macho Man, Piper, Bret Hart etc while WWE were developing new stars. Now did those Legends kill WWE and bring WCW huge ratings?

Part-timers are great as long as you stop putting them into matches against part-timers. It hurts the build up and it either feels rushed like Shane versus Taker. Or takes forever like Cena/Rock and HHH/Sting. They could be used to put new guys over. Samoa Joe facing Brock Lesnar would be good if it's a competitive match. Lesnar destroying Ambrose or facing Undertaker does nothing. Undertaker facing Wyatt was going in the right direction but Taker dominated in what was a short match compared to the 20 minute classics he had been putting on since WM 25. Triple H losing to Reigns was the best example but Roman wasn't over and people wanted HHH to win. They have to use them smarter and get the most value from them on that night the weeks leading up and most importantly the fall out.

Wrestlemania without part timers = literally every other show of the year.
It would be easier to go without part timers if they didn't have a PPV every month and all these guys already facing each other on Raw. I can't think of one fresh matchup for Mania that would get me excited because I've more than likely already seen it (Multiple times)
I went to Mania 31 with a big group of friends, 95% of them who haven't really watched since the attitude era. He reason they went...Sting, Triple H, Taker and Brock
