This...makes a lot of sense to me. I'm sure DVD library distribution isn't high on Corgan's list, so WWE wins out there. And he gets the company.

Interesting if true. I don't see the library being worth a whole lot other than like 04-08 Don't forget 2011 - 2012 years. Bobby Roode and Austin Aries break out years to being World Champions.

Kind of weird that TNA (or whatever it will be moving forward) will not be able to show old footage/matches or sell DVD's, etc.... Going to put homegrown guys like EC3/Eddie Edwards, etc. in a strange position, as most of their best career footage will belong to a company they never worked for! I mean, they aren't really selling their own Merchandise now. All their shirts go through PWT and they no longer have games and figures.

So basically Corgan bought a TV time slot and some talent contracts? If you rebrand without the tape library, you basically lose the history. Almost like starting a new promotion from scratch. He probably did save a ton of jobs though.
I'm glad that the stuff from the years when I really enjoyed TNA will end up on the network.

If this is true, whoever was going to get me "TNA Wrestling: The Essential AJ Styles Collection" on DVD for Christmas, please get me something else instead.

Yeah they make you pay for each individual episode on Tna's YouTube channel. I can't wait to go to that one screen and seeing wwe, ecw, wcw, and tna when choosing a ppv to watch lol.

Holy sh*t, that's awesome, imagine tna flashback figures. Maybe for AJ, but I don't see this improving the likelihood we get anyone else from TNA in a flashback attire though. Maybe this will motivate WWE to get someone like Jerry Lynn under a legends deal though. I'm just looking forward to this footage shining a light on guys like the Motor City Machine Guns. Two of the best wrestlers on Earth for the last decade, and easily one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and they don't get talked about nearly enough. Low Ki, Elix Skipper, Christopher Daniels and Canadian Destroyer all deserve this exposure as well. This is great for those talents.

How does that even work. TNA can't even show old matches in their promos and stuff?
WWE are going to actually acknowledge TNA as a company in their DVDs and on the Network? So they'd essentially be promoting another company because it'll still be active? Makes absolutely no sense.

Billy Corgan is building a new company with the same people.

He probably did save a ton of jobs though. I'm glad that the stuff from the years when I really enjoyed TNA will end up on the network. The TV time slot is the most important part of the deal for him. Without that spot on POP, TNA is just another independent wrestling promotion. So the history is irrelevant without a platform for new content. I think most people agree that TNA is viewed as a negative brand and they'll never recover from that identity in the eyes of most fans. So I do think Billy is approaching this as a new promotion, only he has a TV deal, roster and creative team already in place. TNA ending but people keeping their jobs is a win imo. There will be a group of us who will always remember that TNA was the NWA to this new promotion's WCW, but TNA needs a fresh start, a real fresh start. If that has to come at the expensive of WWE getting their history, in a place where it's far more accessible might I add, then so be it.

So does this mean WWE will have the footage but TNA will still have the rights to the names of the events or how is that going to work, cause I would imagine the rights to the names of the events wouldn't be included in the sale of the footage

Its time for TNA to be put out of its misery. I'd be down for a new company with a fresh start.

You take a piece of crap and put a nice, new, shiny label on it. It's still a piece of crap. I can applaud Corgan for wanting to own a wrestling company. But I know guys who worked for him before in Chicago. I have no faith in him. Whatever it's going to be called will never compete or even compare.
