Wow, you should check that in with an expert or something.

I wish I knew. The only real belt I've ever held was the former World Heavyweight (the big gold/WCW title), and that was easily 10+ pounds.

That's awesome, one of the coolest things I've seen.
For the belt's weights, I thought they weighed more. I swear I heard a commentator in WWE once say the World title was 22lbs. Which sounds ridiculous to be lugging that around everywhere.

Did you pick it up from the trash like Hacksaw Jim Duggan did?

Great looking belt. WCW did a great job from like 91-94 to make every belt prestigious and the TV Title matches always seemed awesome.

I'd definitely look for more information on this if I were you. Seems odd that WCW would literally "throw away" the belt(and I'm not talking about the storyline)but who knows, looking back at WCW's track record. Even if by chance it's not authentic, it's definitely a cool piece.
Thanks for sharing!

What you may have is a travel belt. At different times promotions have used two belts per championship. A TV belt that the company keeps so it stays clean, shiny and always on hand and a travel belt the talent carries around for house shows or personal appearances. Travel belts have been given away or trashed in the past, however I have no idea if WCW was using them at the time this belt would have been discarded.

You need to register at Belt talk and email Dan or just make a post with your story.
You could have a ring used belt there or a "real Replica". The belt makers, R. Parks for that one I think, made belts for the public also and are identical to those used by WCW and WWf.
Look close at it for a little copyright c on the plate some have it some don't. Not sure about WCW ones. Also should be a stamp on the leather saying who made it.
Not uncommon for promotions to throw them in the dump when replaced. Wrestlers would generally keep them though or a collector in the back would get it and eventually they make their way to other private collectors. There is a network of individuals who buy sell still today with modern belts when replaced. Very possible it is a ring used belt.
Plates should be around 4mm thick. Personally speaking, that plate is clean, too clean and I am on my mobile and haven't zoomed in, but if ring used the paint shouldn't be perfect. I could be wrong. I will dig deeper later possibly. I need to blow it up.

That's exactly what I was gonna say.....I think it may also be a travel belt. But IMO that doesn't diminish its value at all......great stuff.

After doing some digging from when WCW used this design, I can assure you this looks like a releathered replica belt. The spacing between plates looks a bit off, the globe on the actual belt was a darker blue, and the tooling on the strap. I do recommend asking around to those who have more knowledge than I.

Releathered Replica. Look at how shallow the engravings are and how thin the boarder is. Then look at the actual belt: Hope you didn't pay more than $500 for it.

You can't really go by that picture though. Scott Steiner was TV Champion in 1999. If this is the TV belt Regal was using, then that has to be 1997, since that was when Regal was TV Champion.

Yeah unfortunately I found out the bad news yesterday little by little...I had suspicions from the beginning but Dan, an expert in wrestling belts, confirmed today. It's a bad bootleg. I have already initiated a return on it. Such a shame but it is what it is. ah crap.......sorry to hear that man.

-- The very first thing you're gonna want to look at, is how deep the etching is on ALL of the plates, followed by the thickness as well. The instant I seen your pics, I knew it was a replica (I've actually got a custom state championship, that was made off of this TV replica belt, so I'm quite familiar with it). But it's a shame it wasn't what you were hoping for.

Yeah, I was fairly sure it was a replica or a bad Pakistani bootleg. I pointed out some of the concerns I had in my 1st post but edited it out because I didn't want to break the news to you, and I wasn't a 100% certain either.
This is also probably before travel belts also. There was some beat up damaged belts on TV on up to 2000+. Travel/TV belts kinda coincide with HDTV is my understanding.
Hope you get your money back though.

Sucks it's not the real deal. I'm pretty sure a company that cannot be named here made replica's of this particular belt, and my guess is it's one of those.
Either way, it's a nice piece.
Just hoping you didn't pay too much!
