Lol@ all the triggered smarks in here. Mad because your favorite bland cookie cutter generic work rate indy guys isnt getting signed? Or pushed? "OHHHHH WE DONT LIKE PEOPLE GETTING SHOVED DOWN OUR THROAT, WE DONT LIKE HIM, THATS WHY WE BOO, WE WANT SOMEONE ELSE, ITS GOTTA HAPPEN ORGANICALLY, NOT FORCED" *A literal jobber comes in, ORGANICALLY gets over(read it again, OVER), WWE sees something in him after a month or 2 of appearances and offers him a contract* "OHHHHH WE DONT LIKE HIM, HE IS ANNOYING, HE DOESNT DESERVE A CONTRACT, *SOBBING*, WHY WONT THEY SIGN _________(insert cookie cutter flippy work rate bland indy guy nobody will care about here)INSTEAD???" Heres an idea, How about you give him a ing chance? Some of you smarks are the worst. There is a reason why youre on a wrestling toy forum bitching and not actually doing anything in the wrestling business. Get over yourself. I like my fair share of indy guys, but I also like a lot of homegrown WWE talents too (even some of the lower end jobber guys), and it bugs me when those guys got over, only for WWE to push them aside (see a previous posters examples of Zack Ryder, Tyler Breeze, and Fandango), because supposedly their workrate wasn't up to par with the indy guys, yet WWE decides to bring in and push this guy of all people, who has even LESS wrestling talent than them. Yeah, Ellsworth got over organically....THEN WWE started forcing it. The same thing happened to New Day. James Ellsworth is like Eugene, 123 kid, Zach Gowen, and Mikey Whipwreck all rolled into one. The man behind Eugene, Nick Dinsmore, was legit one of the best talents in OVW; without the Eugene gimmick he could've been the next Dean Malenko. Hell, WWE rehired him to be a trainer in NXT for a little bit. 123 Kid/X-Pac/Sean Waltman was an innovator of the Cruiserweight style and someone the company trusted as a measuring stick. Zack Gowen had some athletic talent despite having only one leg Most of the cruiserweights are exactly that... It's not hard to be a Dean Malenko when almost everyone in wrestling nowadays lacks charisma, but can wrestle a "five star" match. Without the Eugene gimmick he would not have been memorable. James Ellsworth is something different in today's world of wrestling where something different is needed..

He's going to turn on Ambrose at TLC.
How glorious it'll be.

Guy got lucky, hit in the right place at the right time and is gonna get to live a dream. Good for him. Doesn't make me enjoy it or think it's "worthwhile". It's just such a bizarre thing....like, they are signing this guy why? because he looks funny and is over with the crowd. Cesaro is more over and has been with every crowd across the US and yet I don't even think he's had a 1v1 WWE Title match on TV. Zayn was over with crowds and he's fallen completely flat with nonsense booking and no storyline besides "Owens' former best friend" Breezeango is over, and they are treated like complete fool joke jobbers Zack Ryder... Etc. So when you see this company completely ing over their talent and the excuse is that they either cant grab a brass ring, or they don't outsell Cena or Reigns in merch (even though when they do they get the rug swept out from under them to keep the big boys strong) But then they go and sign a guy simply because he's a goofball, and he got over on the internet like....am i the only one that sees the gigantic problem with all this? Those guys are all already signed? ? None of the stuff you mentioned has anything to do Ellsworth. It's not like he's is getting a run with the WWE title or anything. He's a comedy act. Why are people mad that this guy got a job? It's not like you'd WANT Neville or Cesaro in his place right now? So who's rightful spot is he taking?

The reality is: everyone in WWE that isn't Reigns or Cena has their stock fall occasionally. That's the bi-product of the horrendous booking that we've been exposed to for years now. The only worry is whether or not they bother to build him back up again with the crowd if he does go stale.
Say what you want, but Jericho was stale towards the end of his last few runs. But he's an absolute genius of the industry. How does that happen? Well, there's only so many times WWE can feed someone to nobodies like Fandango before we realise that there is zero reason to care. (One of the reasons why Jericho going over AJ at Mania was a genius decision that helped both guys immensely.)

People need to realize he is a wrestler too, he's given his life to wrestling just as all other guys have. He's been on the indie scene for a long time, and now that he gets his break, a majority of people are upset? My point is, wait to say he has no wrestling talent for when he gets a chance to show it.

Feed him to Brock Lesnar. Don't think about it, just do it. We all want it. Like this. Do this. I may be in the minority but I thought Zach Gowen was great. Shame he was such an arrogant piece of crapat the time but that's what drugs and being young can cause I guess.

There's not many better ways to get a heel over than by destroying a young handicap in front of his horrified mother. That segment was very memorable.

If they DARE give this guy the World title belt, I will stop watching Smackdown.
This is going to be his second title match. I'm down with this character, Hell even Hornswoggle is better!

The Ellsworth story is a cool one, and I'm super happy for the guy. They just need to get him out of the WWE Title picture. As I said in the Smackdown thread, it jumped the shark.

I just hope this leads to a pink slip on a pole match soon. with Ellsworth on the losing end. I swear if he wins the Andre Battle Royal I will be very disappointed

I'm aware of all of this. I know he's been wrestling on the indies for a long time, but wrestling on the indies for a long time doesn't automatically mean that someone is good or deserves to be in WWE. If Ellsworth was so talented, he would've built up a reputation during his time in the indies and become a big name indy star the same as people like Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Roderick Strong and others have and would've brought into WWE based on THAT rather than being as a one note joke being beaten into the ground.

No doubt its amazing for him. I think the New Day comparison from earlier in the thread was best. WWE has no clue how to take an entertaining act and make it better, or even just let it play out. Creative gets their shitty hands on it and suddenly it feels put together by a committee and the magic is gone. Combine that with their horrible habit of beating the everloving crap out of a dead horse and you have a pretty good recipe for staleness.

Imagine yourselves in this situation. If the WWE offers you a contract to be a noob to AJ Styles for a bit, you're going to accept it. If any of you try to tell me otherwise, you're lying to me and to yourself. Be happy for somebody for once. .

Ellsworth is more over than 2/3 of the roster. Sure that says something about booking. But it also says something about this generation of workers too.

But it also says something about this generation of workers too. it's literally just the booking. paul heyman took guys that most labelled as hack wrestlers and through pure creativity created a large demand for the characters they played. it's a wrestling tv show. the wrestling is amazing but the storylines are garbage...giving us a collection of great meaningless matches.

Ellsworth is more over than 2/3 of the roster. Sure that says something about booking. But it also says something about this generation of workers too. Basically proves that nobody cares about work rate flippy matches between 2 bland as bricks wrestlers. Personality>everything in pro wrestling. James Ellsworth has personality, an identity, a look. All things that makes a popular star. Hell, Even on the mic, Ellsworth is mopping the floor with 3/4 of the roster. Dude is as organic as they come. Which explains why he is in the position he is in and the cruiserweights are out there doing workrate matches to crickets.

I'm not a huge fan, but it's not like his roster spot prevented me from getting hired. So more power to him.
