Its a heavy tourist area...A lot of people dont have anywhere to go. My cousin just told me on Facebook that our Aunt's house burnt down.

Thankfully I havent heard of any deaths but they said a lot of buildings/businesses were hit. Something like over 200 structures caught on fire. Was really glad the aquarium made it through. The fire was literally right behind it the whole night. |

Stay safe. Hope your aunt is ok. Thanks man. Im good. Im about 40 mins from g'burg. Theres some fires 30mins south of me as well but those i dont think are that bad. Radio just said there were wind gusts last night at 80+ mph which is why it spread so fast. |

Sorry to hear about your aunt's home. I've been checking updates for this all day and sadly, it's hard to weed out the bullcrap from the truth about what has been damaged or destroyed. This is awful either way. I think it hurts my heart just a little extra because my wife and I spent our anniversary there back in September. Thanks again for all of those suggestions, by the way. Praying everything is under control soon. If you need anything, holler at me!

So apparently my state is on fire. Gatlinburg is at least a monthly trip for me. Its not just the Nat'l Park that's on fire either, its the damn town. Dollywood, Ober Ski resort, Ripley's are all in the path of the fires. It's heart breaking to see people's homes and dreams go up in smoke. Just the other day I was driving and I heard the Mayor of Gatlinburg say that the best way to help the town was to continue to visit. I have never been to Gatlinburg but I have heard it is a nice tourist spot. I hope these communities bounce back quickly. |
