All these years later I'm still disappointed we never found who was attacking the ''Magnificent 7'' on the next to last Nitro.
But anyway what angles, acquired talent etc. you think would of happened if WCW stayed in business?

Good thread, looking forward to some cool answers. Gonna try and think of some myself. I wondered about the magnificent 7 thing when they closed and haven't seen any rumours about it unfortunately

They even started up a cruiserweight tag division. It's a shame it never got off the ground since they went under just a few weeks later.

I have a feeling that it would look a lot like what TNA was originally like in 2002.
I do think that Booker T would have ended up jumping ship to the WWE eventually. But as for guys like Nash, Goldberg, Sting, Hennig, Steiner, they all would have stayed with WCW for those big money contracts.
I think possibly Lance Storm would have went to the WWE when his WCW contract expired. But Rey, Kidman, Chavo etc. would have stayed with WCW.
Hogan would most likely come back to WCW as well.

My main thought is what WWE would've looked like. There would've been no brand split and you have to wonder where the new RA guys like Cena, Orton and Lesnar would've went.
As for WCW I may be in the minority but I thought by the end of 2000 it started to improve so we may have be robbed of good times.

I still think all the big names would have ended back in WWE at one time or another...McMahon would have continued trying to undermine them by luring talent away.
However what type of WCW are we talking about? Without $$$balls Teddy backing them? The pursestrings would have been tightened substantially.....see my first point about talent staying.
I also agree that Steiners reign of terror on the faces was entertaining and WCW WAS becoming watchable again.

I think it basically would have followed TNA's trajectory from start to current.

I was really liking Schiavone/Hudson on commentary during their last few months. They both blended well together for being an all babyface team.

I'm sure the established guys with the big contracts would have stuck around and regained power, pushing out guys like Booker T and other "Invasion" guys once they got tired of hitting the glass ceiling. A few years later they get desperate enough to hit up Japan, RoH and other indies and we get Danielson, Punk, Kenta, Joe and others in WCW.

for the most part, as others mentioned, tna is a pretty good idea of where things would have went. throw in the wwa/xwf and voila.

Overall I miss WCW. A lot of people criticize their final years but it's still way better than anything going on today with WWE.
And oh yeah Mark Madden>Corey Graves.

I miss it too. whether it was the wcw nwo era or the nwa it had something about it that I enjoyed. Loved the raw, gritty feel of the nwa and then the showy big names in the wcw era. Good times - well apart from the weird Dungeon of doom/Hogan dressed in black stuff. but even that could be viewed as a practice run for turning Hogan heel and we got the giant......oh actually we also so got the yeti though lol!

I've always wonder what could have been.I think WCW would have moved away from guys like Hogan,Nash,Sid...ect and would have just kept a few bigger legends like Sting,Flair and Goldberg around while having a main event scene of Booker T,Steiner,Jarrett,Rhodes,Storm,O'Haire,...ect and would have brought in a lot of the talent that ended up in ROH and TNA with WCW not being around.

I always felt bad for Sean O' Haire as he was really getting a chance to shine in those last few months but then the company folded.IMO he had a lot of potential to be World Champion if the WCW stayed in business.

I'm sure quite a few of the ECW guys would've ended up there. Van Dam, Tazz and Rhyno could've ran that place for sure. And just imagine Tajiri in a decent cruiserweight division for a change. Also, I think they could've gotten Steve Corino.
They had so much young talent too that ended up getting thrown away and just wasted because of the sell to WWE. Jindrak & O'Haire for starters and other guys like Kid Kash and Jason Jett (EZ Money in ECW, who got absolutely screwed by getting thrown in HWA and eventually released. He lives in my small little town in East TN and I see him fairly often and it's just sad knowing he never even got a chance. Can't forget they had Christopher Daniels there at the very end as well.
