One of the greatest ever. He was great in the WWF...but imo he really came into his own when he jumped to WCW. yep, i agree. the steroid scandal timing i imagine has a lot to do with it in terms of why he couldn't have flourished in the wwe. he still had some great matches with flair, sting, and steamboat among others. here's a solid rick rude/hennig story told by rick steiner:

He called us all "Boise Potato Men" when he came to my neck of the woods. I always loved and appreciated that bit of personal service from him in each town.

Rude seemed to just have 'it'. I sound like an advertisement for the network but going back and watching match after match from guys like The Ravishing One is great.

I really hated him growing up but that just means he did his job. In hindsight I appreciate all the legit Heels that I loved to hate.

I liked Rude in WWF but I loved Rude in WCW. He just seemed like such a badass, yet still just as smarmy.

It's a shame Rude left the WWF in the fall of 90 as I was looking forward to his feud with Boss Man.

Speaking of Rick Rude, when I got older and a I wanted to workout, I was hoping my body would turn out to look like his. When I found out he took performance enhancement drug, it crushed me because I thought thats what I needed to look like that (even though all the guys back then did the same). In the end he had an amazing sculpt.
I loved his attire, lot of them some how insulted of boosted his ego with wrestlers wives or had the belt he won on his tights.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard podcast will be covering his career tomorrow. Really looking forward to it. If you've never heard the podcast, it's brilliant.

I still say his work in ECW as a commentator with Joey Styles was on par with Jesse Ventura being with Gorilla Monsoon. Somehow, Rude and Joey just meshed well together. Maybe one of the most underrated duos for commentary team just because they were in ECW.

Damn, I bet Vince & Co. had that "cease & desist" letter already stamped and in the mail before Bossman even made it to the ring. "The Boss." Haha, love the creativity. Wonder if "Giant Cop Guy" was ever suggested?
