As it's Rick Rudes birthday I thought I'd make a thread for us to talk about one of my all time favourites. What are your favourite memories, matches, interviews and angles he was involved in.
For me he is by far one of my favourites from that time frame. Whether it was ECW, nwa running with Manny Fernández, the wwf as part of the Heenan Family, challenging the warrior, Jake, the insurance for Dx, wcw as part of the dangerous alliance battling Sting, steamboat and koloff or later the NWO. I always enjoyed Rude. He was a real workhorse and a legit bad ass that could rile up a crowd with the slightest jesture. Its a shame he passed away before he had chance at a WCW comeback, even though he wouldn't have been the same as he was in his prime I would have lived to see him get one more run with the US title. Have my fingers crossed that he goes into the hall of fame soon where he belongs and I still hope we get a rude dvd next year?
Another legend (and according to rumours a genuinely nice guy) gone waaaaaay too soon.

I was a huge fan of Rude in his time in WCCW, the NWA, WWF, and then WCW in the early 90s. Great worker with a great look and charisma. I never really got into his managerial roles too much, but I loved me some Rick Rude.

One of the things I liked most about his manager run in wcw was that he got to run with one of his best friends Henning and that awesome moment when wad on nitro and raw on the same night - loved his interview, can remember it clearly now "the rights and wrongs in professional wrestling" Absolute legend

A talented performer with a great gimmick. I never thought he needed Bobby Heenan with him, Rude was just that good. And he didn't need to be a part of DX. Rude just didn't fit. Rude was more elegant then being a nitwit with HBK and HHH if that makes any sense. I think he could have had a good run with the title between Royal Rumble and lose the Summerslam cage match with Warrior.

I never really appreciated Rick Rude's abilities until many years later after he had passed away.
I also found his matches with the Warrior to be very entertaining. If anyone has the Warrior's DVD, watch the matches with Rude, they are gold!
His stuff in ECW was great too. "My new years resolution is to f*ck with the Franchise!" And him on commentary with Joey Styles was great too.

Rick Rude had every gift a man could be given, perfect body, could cut promos, and was confident around women - he just had 'IT' he was flawless in my opinion. And was a great wrestler too, he didn't suck in the ring.
RIP Rick - you were awesome.

I was a fan of Rick Rude dating back to his stints in Florida and WCCW. The guy just had a true talent about him from the very start. You add in his awesome runs in WWF and NWA/WCW and he's definitely in my top ten performers of all time in wrestling.
It's been 17 years since we lost Rick but one things for sure....he will always be Simply Ravishing.

A lot of love for the Ravishing one here! Always wish he was well and had returned to wwf in summer of 94 to feud with Bret. Would have been a great matches with these 2.
He was definitely good enough to have not had a manager but it was an era when most big players had one. I love the iron man match he had with steamboat was perfect and I think I'll watch it right now! One thing is for sure, they don't make them like him anymore

Brilliant performer......a perennial fave of mine. His feuds with Warrior, Sting & Steamboat are just classic. Rude was just so CRISP in the ring. I also loved his feud with Jake Roberts. Seemed to be a genuine hardcase too from what I have read......
He seems to have been really respected within wrestling too. His reveal in WCW was a classic moment as well as him defeating Sting for the US Title.

certainly one of my faves! i just watched hogan/rude w/heenan for the wwf title from january 1st, 1988 in the boston gardens. rude and heenan's almost cartoonish heel antics played perfectly off hogan's superman character, it's a shame we never saw a full fledged hogan/rude feud! apparently hogan didn't want to work with rude in wcw after hearing how rude had taken care of the ultimate warrior when the warrior had talked down to rude. as hbkbigdaddycool said, his ecw commentating run was great! 'francine can't really wrestle, but you should see her box!" his legs/lower back were so much smaller than his upper and the way he bounced around bumping everywhere, it now makes it seem like his eventual back injury was to a degree inevitable. still a shame we only saw an injured rude throughout the attitude era. in wcw after the initial wave of him showing up had passed in 97, he seemed to mostly accompany hennig who was obviously one of his closest wrestling buddies. was good to see them in the ring together again having fun. i wish his wcw face run/short hair had happened in the wwe. the steroid scandal would have been no good for him though.

I agree about the Jake feud, intense and personal - always feel the mania 4 match was disappointing as it was mostly wear down holds. Should have been a double disqualification due to brawling for me and they should have settled at summerslam. I watch his wcw debut every Halloween - absolutely love it! "I'm here to dismantle the wcw brick by brick!!" Followed him as closely as I could in the UK as TV coverage wasn't great so always got the apter mags to see what was going on.

Gone way too soon. My fave wrestler ever.
Rude: "They say a good man is hard to find...but a hard man is good to find. Ravishing Rick Rude...a good hard man". lol

He just played the part of a heel so perfectly - when watching him, the viewer at home felt like: 'you really think your all that don't you?'....
It's hard to believe that 2 members of the original 4 people in DX are dead: RIP Chyna and Rick.

They don't have feuds like this anymore... Sooo good! It's was always like that with rude though Jake, Warrior, Sting, steamboat, koloff even bossman were intense and you got drawn right into it and wanted to see rude get what was coming even though he was one of my favourites lol

One of the greatest ever. He was great in the WWF...but imo he really came into his own when he jumped to WCW.
