The response in this thread is really sickening. A 7 year old getting upset at a wrestler berating him is "pussification of America"? Really?! And some people saying that they love seeing a kid get upset? That's just sick! Forget the parent for a minute. Just put yourself in the shoes of that 7 year old. At 7 years old, did you know that wrestling was scripted? Would you have loved to have been verbally criticised by someone you saw as one of your heroes? If you answered "yes" to either of those questions, then you're either lying, or you should at least be able to accept that that is not the case for every 7 year old. Children are sensitive. You know why? Because they are children! You can't seriously behave a young child to react as an adult would to this situation. It's very easy to understand how this would have been a devastating and heartbreaking event for a young child. If you can't empathise with the child, then you have something wrong with you. As adults we know that this is what heels are supposed to do. They're not supposed to be liked. But children don't know that. There would be absolutely no problem with this behaviour towards a teen or an adult. Young children should be off-limits at events, unless they know in advance, or they receive consolation afterwards (like Sasha giving flowers to that Bayley fan). I honestly believe most people in this thread have some growing up to do, and need to take a good long look at themselves and reevaluate themselves as human beings. Your parents don't love you.

This lady is overreacting obviously. But saying this is because "everyone gets a trophy" is the reason for this is just dumb. Seriously. The previous generation was the one that STARTED GIVING OUT TROPHIES FOR EVERYONE. The current generation didn't. I don't want to make an ass out of you, but I think you missed the point. The point that was being made is that this kid getting hurt feelings about not getting what he wanted to the point that his mother felt the need to put not only KO, but the entire WWE on blast on social media is in direct correlation to "everyone getting a trophy"...or..."everyone should always get what they want all the time or else they'll feel left out and that just absolutely can't happen because everyone is always a winner...all the time". So because this kid didn't get what he wanted, both the WWE and KO are evil and horrible in his mom's eyes. Which is pretty ing silly when you stop and think about it. He got to interact directly with the talent. Do you know how many people would have loved to interact with a wrestler? But unfortunately, because this woman doesn't understand how wrestling works, she doesn't realize that her little ankle biter got one of the best gifts a wrestling fan could have gotten.

This is the problem with WWE marketing itself as a PG family-friendly kids show to wrestling illiterate marks who bring little Billy and Betty to shows expecting guys like Jericho/KO/Baron Corbin/Bray Wyatt/etc to laugh and take selfies and give high fives to their kids with a sappy Nickleback songs playing in the background because that's what all those 2-3 minute music video packages show them doing. Showing up to a WWE show and especially sitting front row makes you part of the atmosphere and you become a living piece of the environment for the show itself. Her son doesn't have PTSD, he's not going to require years of counseling because of this. A guy who's made and marketed as a villain screwed with him for a couple of seconds and moved on to the next. He's eventually going to stop watching WWE when he hit 12-13 and forget all about it, or grow up, turn into one of us, and realize how awesome it was to get heel'd on by the WWE Champion himself at a show 8-9 years ago. I call this woman a mark, which she very well may be, but she's definitely not stupid. This is an obvious cash/attention grab on her end, nothing more. I almost detached my retinas rolling my eyes at the bit about the grandma with cancer she managed to work in there. Holy .

Hi, We're talking about the Mother not the child. She was the one causing the problems and coddling her child, she's the one causing the pussiciation of America. You giving us a child psychology lesson, and then telling us we need to take a look in the mirror when you're not even following the conversation correctly doesn't help either. k bye. I'm gonna assume you had a mic in your hand and then promptly dropped it.

Good lord, when I was a kid, my dad rancher with a lot of the Texas wrestlers and was good friends with them. One. Weekend when they came down to my town Dory Funk told Kamala to mess with my father who was at ringside with me. Kamala came out and yelled some mum bought jumbo crap, grabbed my program out of my hand and tore it in two! I cried, I was only nine, I hated that guy ever since, at least the character, nothing against the man (now, lol) but man that is the wresting show I always remember the most. A guy that would wrestle Hogan a few years later yelling at my dad and he just aughing, and I got my souvenir tore by freaking Kamala!
Mommy here should have explained to her son that wrestling is a show and these guys are actor stunt men paid to make you love or hate them. My dad explained it to me and told me to toughen up I was almost ten. This country is so wuss infield now, it is pathetic.

I don't know man, as a parent, I would probably be really pissed at KO for treating my kid the way he did. If you guys don't have kids, you have no clue what It feels like to have your kid upset, so don't even start. Owens, as a parent himself, could have easily went to give the kid a high five, took his hand out and said, not with a Roman shirt, in a mocking manner or something, but he looked extra intimidating, specially for a 7 year old, and he did kinda went a bit serious with it. It's a 7 year old. A kid who's 10, 12, they understand better, but a 7 year old is still a young kid. We're not in the 80's, or 90's anymore, WWE is PG whether you like it or not, they promote themselves as being this family environment, so everyone can enjoy, and WE ARE ALL VERY aware of that by now. The days of The Kliq, DX and all that crazy badass stuff, are over. And if you were a kid back then, your parents are probably much different then the kind of parents that go to today's events.
Yes, that lady kinda went low, talking about the whole leukemia stuff, and whining a bit too much, but KO also should know better than to intimidate a kid the way he did. It could have gone much lighter and different. If he just went at the end of the show, broke keyfabe and said hey kid i got my butt kicked, good job, things would have never gotten this far. At the end of the day, every wrestler is a superhero for those kids, no matter good or bad, and to see a celebrity you look up to, treat you like that, specially when you are 7, that's just crappy. I know all you 20 year olds get your panties wet when Owens does some cool heel shit, we got it, haha, but come on, give kids a little more slack, lol
Just my two cents.

Never been one to be all "It's because of the PG Eea" or whatever, but this is all down to WWE promoting themselves as family friendly entertainment now. Parents are taking their REALLY young kids to shows because they assume because of WWE's promotion of their rating, the worst that might happen to their kids is a bad guy telling them their fav wrestler is stupid.
So at the end of the day, Owens isn't wrong because he was just being a good heel, and the mother isn't really in the wrong either because the company have pushed the fact that the product is young child friendly, which it probably still isn't to a degree.

While I do agree with some of you about the kid needing to grow a pair or being informed that it's a work, I'm almost 100% certain that Owens would be a whiny bitchy soccer mom too if this happened to his kid.

What I don't understand is "I'm your father"... Is that supposed to be cool or badass? To me, it shows that he isn't very good at the "heel" gimmick. It reminds me of the "you have a vagina" comment from CM Punk, again showing someone just isn't good enough at the heel gimmick. I get the ripping up signs or just random in your face trash talk from a heel to a child. That stuff is heelish but the kid will understand it and maybe even think it's cool. It will give him something to tell his friends at school about and his mother may even laugh at how the nasty heel picked on HER son over the other kids. But "I'm your father?" In 2016, with kayfabe really, truly (don't tell Arn Anderson) long dead...I just don't get it.

Yeah but surely this was just Kevin playing his on-screen heel character towards the kid? that wasn't Kevin 'the genuine person' talking to the kid?
