This sounds very much like his NJPW contract did expire and that he's taking a break to figure out what he's going to do next with the offers he has on the table. This pretty much confirms his contract isn't traditional and it already expired prior to the January 31st date that was speculated to be the end of his deal. Meaning, he could decide to sign with WWE, and it would be in time for the Rumble.
I'm not going to lie, I was a guy who absolutely, 1000%, didn't think Omega was willing to leave Japan before he won the title. However, he's said before that the majority of guys he has a desire to work with in the future are under WWE contract. I'm left to speculate that it really just comes down to if his vision of himself in WWE, and Triple H's vision of him in WWE are similar, to the point where he'll make the jump.
Decide for yourself, but this seems far more realistic now based off of what he's saying.

His contract should run out on the 31st. And last year when he won the G1, he said he would never go "there". He's been in Japan for fkin years, no wonder he needs a break. I really can't see him going to WWE again, they'd probably strip him of everything that makes HIM him.

If he's joining WWE his character needs to come with him.

I really can't see him going to WWE again, they'd probably strip him of everything that makes HIM him. He says in the video that's not the case and his contract is unique in that he was one of the few guys who signed in very early January of last year. And I agree with you on that second point, but the biggest counter to that is he'll probably never be a hotter free agent than he is right now. Not to say that WWE won't still want him, they definitely will, but he could potentially come in with as most leverage as possible right now, versus if he waits a year or two. I still think he's staying in NJPW, but this is the first time where I've heard him sound like he's taking the WWE stuff seriously. He seems genuine.

When Ken Omega walks out as one of the 30 entrants in the Rumble, I'm literally going to do everything that the yellow jersey players are doing.

Kenny did an interview with Dave Meltzer. He is working shows in Chile and England, and will make a final decision when he gets back.

He is 33, not old but if he wants to conquer WWE I'd rather he do it now so we don't just have a "couple" good years.

Omega's interviews are always very insightful. He's a well-spoken guy who always puts real thought into his answers. One of the things I find most interesting during his talk with Meltzer is that he doesn't consider himself a wrestling fan anymore. He sort of struggled a bit to explain why, but it's an interesting stance to have as a top-level performer in the industry.

I still just can't see him leaving yet, even if his contract is up.
I mean, it would be fantastic to see him come in and have a year like AJ just had... but that's not entirely realistic. Especially if he ends up on RAW. I predict he stays in NJPW, at least one more year.

The only thing worse than hearing people talk about Kenny Omega is hearing Kenny Omega talk about Kenny Omega.
He isn't coming to WWE, at least not this year. Plus, if he did resign with NJPW I read they are now doing default two year deals to stop future exoduses in January to WWE. So if he did resign with NJPW, I nor anyone else who is as annoyed as I am will have to deal with this OMEGA TO WWE nonsense for two more years.

Given the assumed interest on the part of WWE, and Omega's stock level at this moment in time, something tells me he's going to have the bargaining power to exempt himself out of that clause in any negotiation process with NJPW, unless he's completely certain he has no interest in jumping ship.

Further reinforce his value to WWE as a main event level talent, and prove he isn't just a flavor of the month. Also, I still believe he wants to have a run with the IWGP Title before going. Of course, if WWE comes knocking with a deal on the level of Styles or Nakamura, it wouldn't shock me if he does go.

I definitely think Omega has what it takes to carve his name out in WWE. I do think he needs a little time in NXT, but other than that, the guy is ready. I do hope he keeps his name/gimmick if he does make the jump, but I do think Kenny Omega is original, and wouldn't need much tweaking, if any. I would like to see him get a run with the IWGP title, as that's pretty much all he has left to do in NJPW. Other than that, the WWE Universe could benefit from Omega's talent.
Kudos to him right now for keeping anticipation and interest in whatever his next move might be.
