Xbox 360. 360's game library practically kills the PS3's. The graphics are amazing too. Yeah, 360 all the way. The X Box 360 has been out nearly 2 years over here. The PS3... 6 months. Completely irrelevant argument. No it isn't. If he's gonna buy a console, he doesn't want to have to wait 2 years before he gets any decent games, does he? Take a look at the exclusives for both consoles, decide which ones appeal to you most and then decide which console to buy. Most people on here are fanboys. I'm happy with my 360 though. Better selection of games and since I'm never going to buy a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD in my life I don't give a crapif it can play the next-gen DVDs.

Yeah, but 360 owners had to wait a few months until some decent games came out, most people were stuck with American sport games like Madden and NHL, as well as maybe Call of Duty.
I want the 360 too, all I'm saying is, don't write the PS3 off just yet.

360 easy, even if it's just for Halo 3 and Forza Motorsport 2

PS3 if you have the money, better graphics and better exclusives IMO.

Good thread guys. Well done for putting across sensible points rather the fanboy rubbish you often get on other forums when this subject is brought up.
I want to get either a 360 or PS3 before October 26th (PES 2008 launch) but I'm still undecided.
My console history in the last 10 years has been - N64 - Dreamcast - PS2.
The lower price of the 360 and games like Forza, PGR4, Halo 3 and Bioshock attract me. But the PS3 with it's familiar controller, backwards compatibility, blu ray and better reliability also attract me.
I'm not big on online play yet so I'm not too bothered about that and I also don't have a HD TV yet so that also isn't a concern for me right now.
Probably the best thing to do for myself is to save like mad for a few months and buy both consoles, but that would also involve me surviving on spaghetti hoops and Tesco Value lemonade for a while!

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm thinking PS3 at the mo due to the fact I am used to using PlayStation consoles having never owned an Xbox. It's just the price that is detering me at present - as well as the lack of games. i'd never owned bought a console new until the 360 came out...the main reason i bought it was for dead rising and i haven't looked back since... i suppose it all depends on what games u like to play...like if you like FPS then the 360 is probably ur best choice with GoW and Halo etc... its best to look which your favourite game series is aligned to and go with that... but if it was me, i'd still go with a 360...and a big TV too...

Basically, if you aren't worried about Hi-def DVD's, then go for the Xbox360.
It has a much wider game catalogue and developer base at the moment, Xbox live has been implemented for years and works great - whereas Sony are just starting out with a new online system.
Also, the price - makes a big difference.
And uness you are into final fantasyand Gran Turismo, you are more or less gonna get all the same games on the 360.

I would from getting a PS3 say that if u dont have a HDtv theres no point getting a playstation u may as well go for the cheaper xbox... The PS3 is good, but if u dont use the Blu Ray DVD player and all the other gadgets then ur limited. And therefore the graphics alone dont compensate for the extra money it costs.

PS3 has a lot more advantages IMO. But I'm not one of those "you must like one and HATE the other" I'm sure you'll be happy whichever you choose, they are both good consoles.
