After driving 45 minutes to my nearest Walmart and finding nothing but empty shelves, I pulled the trigger and purchased the first Retro series via online auction. I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up this afternoon. It was a lot of fun opening these up and taking in the nostalgia. I dug some of my old Hasbro stuff out of storage and took the following photos (forgive me as they have never been cleaned and clearly got a lot of play). Enjoy! Overall I am very happy with the job Mattel did. I think they should have been slightly larger, their paint jobs could use some work, and the packaging needs better attention to detail. Other than that...I will be buying these as long as they make them! |

Mattel 'Hasbro' figures are clearly making a bigger impact than the Jakks 'LJN' figures that were in the classic line.

Nice. I think the BCA and OSFTM belts look best on them. More of the retro feel than the TTL/RA or Mattel plated ones.

I hated taking them out of the package because I wanted to hang onto that feeling that I haven't experienced since childhood. I will say that the packaging they use for these is way more flimsy than Hasbro. It's closer to thick paper than it is to cardboard. MOC collectors will need protective cases for these without a doubt. |

great stuff.....man I had forgotten how tiny the BCA belts could be. I use them on my Hasbro's too...LOL. Seeing the OSFTM belts always reminds me of my Toybiz WCW Shane Douglas figure. I have him displayed with both World and TV OSFTM belts.
I would LOVE to see Mattel make Shane Douglas. LOVE IT.

They're more readily available and, while not a perfect match, actually fit with the older figures. The Jakks "LJN" figures were mostly terrible. They were the wrong sized and looked completely different. A couple looked cool on their own, but didn't fit. I love this line. I hope it continues.  |
