Soooooo....I finally bucked up and went to see the dentist after five or so years. I got the gory details that I have to have my wisdom teeth removed. I have to make an appointment with an oral surgeon at some point so they can knock me out and rip bone from my body.
That being said, for those of you who have had yours removed, how bad was the aftermath? How much work did you have to miss? Stuff like that. I had a tooth pulled when I was like, 6, and that was just because it had a ton of cavities and the adult tooth was starting to push through so I barely remember. But I've heard good things and bad things about getting them pulled. What's your experience, and what was the aftermath for you?

forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/146538/wisdom-teeth-out-tomorrowI remember posting in that thread shortly after I had all four of mine removed back in August 2009, so hopefully some of that will be useful info for you. Best of luck to you. I think I came away relatively unscathed. The whole process was made easier for me since I was on summer vacation and didn't have to worry about getting back to a work shift. Compared to some people's experiences, I would say having several days to rest made a world of difference for me.

The pain wasn't bad. But my face got infected. It was so gross. If I puffed my cheeks out, vile smelling puss would come out of my nose. Worst 5 days of my life. But that was over 25 years ago. I'm pretty sure they've made advances since then. Just ask your oral surgeon if you should rinse regularly with either Listerine or warm salt water to prevent infection. I wish you the best of luck. And ask if you can keep the teeth. The roots on my one tooth grew together. So I put a hoop earring in it & wore it for a while.

Not too bad. The pain can suck, but that's what the meds are for. Just relax, rest/sleep and do what the physician tells you to after.
As for work, I'd say maybe 2-3 days tops.

Your mouth will be sore for a while but you should only miss a couple days of work, a week tops. Itll be tough to eat for a while too and that's probably the hardest part.
Good luck.

I did much better than my sister when we both got our wisdom teeth removed. I'd say it was a total breeze for me. Almost no pain whatsoever, limited bleeding.
I got high on codeine and watched Naked Lunch. What a ride.

lmao I wasn't born with wisdom teeth, neither was my brother or dad. Neither was I. But as far as pain goes it's a case by case basis. On one hand my brother bounced back in 2 days whereas my wife was out for at least a week.

I got 2 removed over the summer. wasn't too bad. worst day was the first day, second and third were better because of the vicodin. I'm pretty sure I need my other 2 removed too but I don't know when that's going to happen.

Best 3-4 days of my life. They kept me so out of it from the time they put me under, to about a week or so after, I didn't know whether I was coming or going.

I've had three of the four pulled. Missed no work, back the day after. Was a bit tender but wasn't much different than having any other tooth pulled.

I loved it! Honestly I regret getting all 4 taken out at once (2 pulled, 2 cut out). The drugs they gave me were G-R-E-A-T!! I should of have 1 done every weekend for 4 weeks! I had it done Friday afternoon and was back at work on Monday. I pretty much slept the entire weekend. Completely out of it. I had 0 pain, didnt feel a thing and was eating regular food, although slowly, 3 days later.

I felt like a mess for a few days, but my brother was fine by that evening. Either a) I'm a **** or b) my parents got my brother a better oral surgeon.
I stayed awake during the procedure. There was a lot of pulling and prying, one of my teeth or a fragment flew across the room.

Some people I know had no problem at all, like my brother. But others were in pretty bad pain, like me. I was counting down the minutes until I could take another pain pill. It seems like a real luck of the draw thing - best of luck to you!

I had mine taken out last year two at a time. The first time was fine no pain at all and the second I was little bit sore for a day or two but nothing that bad. The worst part is watching what you eat for like a week after because they don't want the sockets to get infected. I remember eating a lot of soft stuff like ice cream, Jello, mashed potatoes, soup etc.

If you're getting IV Sedation then you're not going to 'member s*** from the actual extraction. I never had wisdom teeth so I can't really help with that aspect but had an infected tooth pulled back in November with IV Sedation and it's glorious. The only parts that I remember is opening my eyes to see the assistant lady taking my blanket when it was time to go and then re-opening them long enough to slide into the front seat of my mom's ride. I don't remember anything about how I got from the chair to the wheelchair or being rolled to the exit. I woke up in the parking lot of the pharmacy that was 30 minutes away and then I remember everything forward. Spent the rest of the day taking naps / watching TV / and eating a Frosty with a spoon. Not sure if that aspect will translate to you but get IV sedation and you'll get some of the best damn sleep of your life. Hopefully everything goes smooth for ya and maybe you'll get a free t-shirt with a bad ("We're pulling for you!") pun like I did. LOL.

I had mine removed in 2015. I had to get 2 separate surgeries to get them removed. I had one side removed each time. There was no problem getting them removed with needing to go 2 times to get them out. We decided on 2 surgeries to ease the recovering process. It sucked afterward when everyone around you was eating food that you couldn't eat.
