By 1992, the "80s era" was coming to a close (if described as 1983-1992). Music, TV/movies, and fashion was changing, console wars, the recession was nearing its end, Internet was now in its infancy and "Professional Wrestling" was in a decline. WCW saw its worst year in all of 1992 and with the steroid and sexual harassment scandals; the popularity of the WWF dwindled. Despite Hulkamania not running as wild as it did say 1989, according to Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan was still the biggest draw in 1992 before he left the company. With Hulk Hogan gone, "business" didn't pick up. Piper and Sid left shortly after Wrestlemania, Randy Savage and Elizabeth's marriage was in jeopardy so that didn't help Randy being the face of the WWF, Vince saw Flair as an aging wrestler post-WM8, Warrior was high maintenance as we already know and that left Vince with little choices that led to Bret Hart becoming the underdog World Champion near the end of the year. What if Hulk Hogan and/or others stayed in the WWF instead of leaving shortly after Wrestlemania? Should Hulk vs. Flair have happened at Wrestlemania 8? Could if Sid Justice stay as a babyface? This diary is an alternate timeline of the WWF in 1992 (and possibly later). Note: This has no relation to my previous WWF 1986-1991 diary.

Mr. Perfect: It was the greatest tragedy in the history of the WWF, don't get me wrong, I think a guy like the Undertaker deserves the spotlight, but not like this, not how Hulk Hogan stole Ric Flair's real spotlight. The Real World Champion, the man who lasted over an hour in the ring and came it at No. 3 Vince he was the last man standing! Vince: Well I'm sure that is true, but there is controversy regarding what happened to Sid Justice, who was supposed to be No. 30, but it looks someone didn't want him to enter the Rumble! Mr. Perfect: Ha I bet he was just scared to come out and face Ric Flair and the Undertaker! Vince: Well the new World Wrestling Federation Champion had this to say: Undertaker promo: Paul: Oooo yes my Undertaker has done it yes...he has alone triumphed against all competitors in the ring at the Royal Rumble...to become the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion ooo yes! Undertaker: The future is now at hand...Hogan, Flair, Savage, all of you who faced me at the Rumble are defeated men. Superstars of Wrestling February 1st, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect
Wrestlemania VIII Press Conference Mean Gene on stage: The purpose of this press conference is to determine who is the No. 1 contender to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania VIII in the Hoosier Dome on April the 5th for the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship. With me at this time are the top five contenders Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and Sid Justice. Before we make the decision, I would like to bring the Heavyweight Champion the Undertaker and his manager Paul Bearer up here... Ric Flair: (interrupts and gets on the mic) Before you bring the World's Champion, I got something to say, we shouldn't be having this press conference at all. Isn't it obvious? I came in at No. 3 and was unfairly eliminated, I deserved to be the Champion at the Royal Rumble, but this...(laughs) this conference is a joke, because everyone knows that I'm the No. 1 contender and the Real World Champion (leaves to his seat) Gene: Well you're point has been noted, well I suppose we could get this going as Mr. Paul Bearer has informed me the Undertaker awaits the answer so let's get this moing forward, ladies and gentlemen, the President of the WWF, Jack Tunney. Tunney: With so many challengers, choosing an opponent for the WWF Champion, the Undertaker has been especially difficult. However after careful consideration and listening to the public at large, I've reached a decision, esteemed members of the press, challenging the Undertaker for the WWF Heavyweight Championship, is none other than Hulk Hogan! Ric Flair goes nuts and starts shouting at Tunney. Hogan gets up. Sid Justice looks confused and shakes his head. Hogan gets on the mic.Hogan: Thank you so much I knew it! Everything is falling into place brother... Ric: (gets into Hogan's face) No no no! This is a joke, Hulk Hogan you're a joke! This is a travesty you know it the world knows it Hulk Hogan is a loser he's had his chance and doesn't deserve it! Hogan: How dare you speak to me in this manner brother all my little Hulkamaniacs have been looking forward to this. Tunney: Please Mr. Ric Flair let Hogan proceed.. Flair shoves Tunney aside and pushes Hogan, Hogan pushes back as Mr. Perfect jumps Hogan along with Flair. The press are going nuts as WWF Officials manage to break them. After a commercial break and Hogan and Flair have been separated, Shawn Mooney gets on the mic to interview reactions from the other challengers. Randy says although he thinks he deserves it, he says good luck to the Hulkster. Thereafter Sid Justice is left and he stands in confusion and disappointment. The press are all over him.Mooney: Sid Justice I don't think you're pleased with the result. Sid: Does any of this make any sense to you? To any of you? I was No. 30...I was knocked out by someone and I'm going to find out who, bu t I never got to step in the ring for my CHANCE! I never got my shot! What you did Jack Tunney was bogus! There is no justice here! Where is my shot? What's the problem Jack Tunney? Is it because I'm not some movie star like Hulk Hogan? Is it because I'm the newcomer? Are you threatened by new blood or that Sid Justice...will rule the world! Papa Shango vignette.

Saturday Night's Main Event February 8th, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan Vince: We've got breaking news, the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase and his tag team partner Irwin R. Schyster formed a new tag team known as Money Inc and just last night won the WWF World Tag Team titles at a house show. Heenan: First the Intercontinental titles changes hands at a house show a few weeks back and now Money Inc win the tag titles! Vince: That's why you can never miss the WWF in action when it comes to your hometown live! You never know what can happen in the WWF! Royal Rumble Rematch: The Big Boss Man (c) def. The Mountie (w/Jimmy Hart) via pinfall to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship. A No. 1 contender will be announced soon for Wrestlemania. _______________________ Hulk Hogan & Sid Justice (w/Beefcake) vs. Ric Flair & The Undertaker (c) (w/Paul Bearer) in a Tag team matchRic Flair and the Undertaker (with World title) walk out, but Paul Bearer is nowhere to be found. Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice come out to a big pop. Hogan and Taker are in the ring first and Vince says it's Wrestlemania already. Taker takes care of the Hulkster early on as Flair wants in and the tag is made. Flair goes after Hogan, Hogan makes the quick tag to Sid. Flair is shouting at Hogan as a coward (the fans can clearly see that). Sid starts landing punches and knocks down Flair at ease. Taker is in and Sid goes after him, but each time he tries to hurt Taker he starts to choke and falls on the mat. Hogan has no idea what's going on and Taker just stares at Sid who is grasping at his own neck. Taker goes after Sid and is on the offensive. Finally Sid manages to jump at Hogan to make the tag. Hogan goes on the offensive and attacks Taker, but he tries to avoid Taker from getting a tag with Flair to annoy Flair. Flair is on the apron flipping out wanting to get in. Taker manages to counter Hogan and hits the ropes for his signature clothesline. Hogan is down and hurt till Taker goes for the tombstone piledriver and lands it! He goes for the pin but Sid (who felt better) runs in and breaks the count. The ref goes after Sid as Flair finally gets the tag and starts punching Hogan on the mat. Flair goes for the figure four, but Hogan kicks him out of the ring. Hogan goes after Flair on the outside. Sid Justice gets in the ring and goes after Taker, but once again starts to choke again and vomits in the middle of the ring as the fans are in shock! Paul Bearer brings out Papa Shango who is performing a voodoo ritual and gets in the ring. The referee calls for the bell as Hogan and Flair go at it all the way to the back. Winner: N/A Double CountoutUndertaker points at Shango as Shango gets in the ring and continues to perform his ritual as Sid shouts in pain and gets to a corner. The Undertaker grabs Sid and lands a tombstone piledriver with the WWF title raised high and gets a lot of heat for it. Vince: I have a feeling the Undertaker and Papa Shango were responsible for what happened to Sid at the Royal Rumble! Heenan: Papa Shango gives me nightmares McMahon! _______________________ Shawn Michaels (w/Sherri) def. Tito Santana via pinfall. Sherri uses her purse and smashes Tito in the face for Shawn to get the superkick in and pin. It was revealed before the match that Ted Dibiase wanted revenge for the money he lost at the Rumble and got Shawn Michaels to do his bidding with the help of Sherri. After the match, Marty Jannetty, who was attacked a few weeks back by Shawn at the Barbershop, rushes out to a huge pop (with a "mask" on, but fans knew it was him as the Rockers theme music was on). Michaels leaps over the top and runs off as Marty is in the ring wanting his hands on Shawn. (Note: In this timeline the night club incident didn't happen that would've forced Marty to leave the WWF for a while) _______________________ Randy "Macho Man" Savage (w/Elizabeth) def. Rick the Model Martel via pinfall. Jake Roberts in a "instant promo" during the match challenges Randy Savage to a match at Wrestlemania with a special stipulation, it'll be his version of a "Snake Pit" match and at the end of his promo says that he has a surprise for Jake. After Randy pins Rick, the lights flicker and a bag mysteriously appears. Randy opens the bag and it's a bunch of snakes that start to slither in the middle of the ring (a snake handler is nearby for the gimmick) as SNME goes off the air.

Highlights from Saturday Night's Main Event is shown with the incident with Papa Shango, Undertaker and Sid Justice. Post-SNME Promos: Hulk Hogan promo: You know something Hulkamaniacs, Ric Flair thinks he's the "Real World Champion", Ric Flair thinks he deserves to be at the top brother, but there is no way I'll let that happen. And the only way to settle this once and for all, the only way the world could know who the real world champion is, the greatest of all time, is if we go head to head at Wrestlemania. That's right, Jack Tunney, I revoke my title shot to challenge Ric Flair. So whaccha gonna do when Hulkamania reigns supreme at Wrestlemania!Ric Flair promo: Finally there is one thing I agree with Hulk Hogan, and that's it's time we settle the score once and for all! Everyone knows I'm the "Real World Champion", but after all you've done to screw me over from getting my hands on the WWF Championship...wooo! Wrestlemania will be the greatest moment in my life when I beat you and let's make it even better, I'm willing to let you become known as the "Real World Champion" if you beat me (laughs) like that's going to happen, but I want something in return if you lose Hulk Hogan...you leave the WWF forever!Undertaker promo: Sid Justice...it's true what they say, that it was I who orchestrated the beginning of your downfall at the Royal Rumble. WWF Superstars February 22nd, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Mr. PerfectBig Boss Man (c) def. jobber via pinfall to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship. After the match, Boss Man's IC title belt goes missing. He checks around the table and starts a search till fans are up looking at a hooded figure leave with the title belt in the crowd. In a post-match promo he wants the man to reveal himself and give back his title or else he'll hunt him down with the whole police force after him. Official Statement from President Jack Tunney: It has come to my attention that the Immortal Hulk Hogan has revoked his spot at Wrestlemania as the No.1 contender for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. As for the request by the Nature Boy Ric Flair, I have decided to hold a contract signing next week on Superstars for this prestigious match up between Hulk Hogan and the Nature Boy Ric Flair. The contract will contain important stipulations, which would mean that if Hulk Hogan wins the match, he will be known as the "Real World Champion" by name only. However if Hulk Hogan loses the match, he will be forced to retire from the WWF.
This now means that the No. 1 contender spot for the WWF Heavyweight Championship, to face the Undertaker, has become vacant. We have heard the appeal of Sid Justice since the Royal Rumble. It is true that Sid Justice missed his chance to win the WWF title at the Royal Rumble due to unfortunate circumstances. After careful consideration and negotiations with WWF Officials, I have decided to award Sid Justice the spot as the No. 1 contender to face the WWF Champion, the Undertaker at Wrestlemania VIII. Thank you. ______________________________ Bret the Hitman Hart def. jobber via pinfall
Tatanka def. jobber via pinfall
Money Inc (c) def. jobbers via pinfall to retain the WWF Tag Team Championships______________________________ Sid Justice promo: Finally Jack Tunney has listened to me and listened to the fans around the world (laughs) so it was true, the Undertaker and that voodoo master Papa Shango did what they did to me...The Undertaker thinks of himself as the face of fear, but now we know who is really afraid. Now we know the truth! At Saturday Night's Main Event you tried to smother my dreams out to put me out of my misery, take my soul away into that strange urn of yours, you tried everything, but look at me I'm still breathing. I'm still up, fighting and ready so bring whatever you can, bring your urn and your voodoo dolls because no one is going to stop his man and at Wrestlemania VII, justice will be served.

WWF Superstars March 14th, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan Vince: The Intercontinental Champion, the Big Boss Man suffocated last week after that vicious attack by the Repo Man. Heenan: Repo Man is a loose canon, he destroyed the Intercontinental Championship belt and Jack Tunney has ordered the damaged belt returned to the WWF. Funny thing is when Tunney asked him, he lost his wallet...makes you wonder. Vignette of Nailz is shown for the first time. He said he's heard what happened to the Boss Man and is glad that he got a fraction of what he deserves. Boss Man treated him badly for a long time as he's been in prison for over 6 years and was arrested by the Boss Man. However he's going to be set free soon as it was proven he was an innocent man after all these years. He wants revenge on the Boss Man himself. The Undertaker (c) (w/Paul Bearer and Papa Shango) def. Prime Time Wrestling March 21st, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon, Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby "the Brain" Heenan and Mr. PerfectWrestlemania VIII Card (with Op notes) BROTHERS IN ARMS: Bret & Owen Hart vs. The Beverly Brothers- Bret lost the IC title because the WWF wanted to get it off of him due to a contract dispute. And after he's awarded with the IC title again? Must have been a great deal. In this timeline, Vince decides to get Bret and Owen working together for a Brothers vs. Brothers match. AMERICAN DISASTERS: Sgt. Slaughter & Jim Duggan vs. The Natural Disasters (w/Hart)- This seems like a better match-up. Natural Disasters were just not that good as faces and so I kept them heel. CATTLE PROD MATCH: Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. The Mountie (w/Jimmy Hart), winner must "shock" the opponent with a cattle prod (hanging from a corner) to win- The shock factor is a perfect gimmick for a Roddy Piper match at Wrestlemania. Piper's matches are entertaining when it's more comedic and with gimmicks. I know Piper vs. Bret is legendary, but that was of circumstance, it wasn't like the "passing of the torch" was always planned. INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: The Big Boss Man (c) vs. Repo Man- What better way for kids to watch Cops vs. Robbers and for a title? WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: Money Inc (c) (w/Jimmy Hart) vs. The Nasty Boys- The Nasty Boys are better as faces IMO and with Hart betraying them and leaving for Money Inc, since Nasty Boys lost the titles months back, this match up works better. THE ROCKERS EXPLODE: Shawn Michaels (w/Sherri) vs. Marty Jannetty - An anticipated match that everyone was expecting, but didn't get till it was way too late. I remember how shocking the Barbershop incident was and wanting Marty to go after Shawn. SNAKE PIT MATCH: Randy "Macho Man" Savage (w/Elizabeth) vs. Jake "the Snake" Roberts
- The cobra at the wedding, the cobra bite, all the craziness...the feud should've ended in a Wrestlemania match, but with a stipulation/gimmick "REAL WORLD CHAMPION" SHOWDOWN: Hulk Hogan (w/Beefcake) vs. Ric Flair (w/Heenan & Mr. Perfect), if Hulk Hogan loses he has to retire from the WWF, if he wins he becomes the "Real World Champion" by name.- Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair the missed opportunity coming to life. No its not for the WWF Championship because Hogan needs to stay away from the title due to the steroid scandal, but as an added bonus, Ric Flair is willing to give up his name as the "Real World Champion" if he loses. WWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Sid Justice vs. The Undertaker (c) (w/Paul Bearer & Papa Shango)- True that Sid vs. Taker years later wasn't that great, but this was 1992 and Sid was the hottest babyface in the company and was still over as a heel. Kicking out of the legdrop? POP, Hogan grabbing Sid at the Rumble and getting booed...it was obvious who fans liked. Too bad in real-life despite Vince wanting Sid to replace Hogan, Sid didn't want to be the face of the WWF and asked to be a heel. Plus he was promised a main event spot at Wrestlemania by Vince to begin, which led to the original "double main event".

I'm loving this! Keep it up! Good work!

The Undertaker better beat Sid Justice to retain the WWF Championship...there's no way I want to see The Streak end before it even starts...the Streak goes to 2-0

March to Wrestlemania VIII March 29th, 1992 (USA Network Special) Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" HeenanRepo Man def. Koko B. Ware via pinfall. Repo brought in the broken IC title belt with him during the match. After the match, the Big Boss Man runs out to a huge pop and starts beating down on the Repo Man. Repo runs off as quickly as he could as Boss Man talks trash. Boss Man finally gets his busted IC belt back. Boss Man still displays it for the fans. Gorilla announces that a new stipulation has been made for the IC title match at Wrestlemania, whereby it will be a No Holds Barred match. Repo Man in the back says it's the perfect match for him and laughs it away. Nailz has a quick vignette showing him in prison and saying that he's ready to leave "in a few days" so he can destroy the man who ruined his life in the WWF. ___________________________________ Jimmy Hart comes to the ring with The Mountie, Natural Disasters and Money Inc. He talks trash about Roddy Piper and that he'll fry at Wrestlemania. He trashes Sgt. Slaughter and Jim Duggan as "American Zeros". As for the Nasty Boys he says that they're the worst team he's ever managed and is glad he got rid of them. The Nasty Boys come out and enter the ring. They stand alone against the other five men plus Hart. Hart talks trash again till the Nasty Boys go wild trying to grab a hold of Hart. Nasty Boys almost cleans house, but are beaten down. Earthquake and Typhoon each hold down one of them as Ted Dibiase and IRS take cheap shots at them. The Mountie grabs his cattle prod and shocks both of them down. Heenan says that Piper better be ready to recieve another shock. The rest leave the ring laughing away as Heenan says the Nasty Boys are the biggest idiots in the WWF. ___________________________________ Shawn Michaels (w/Sherri) def. Tito Santana via DQ. The finish came when Marty Jannetty, wearing a "half-mask" because of the injuries he faced at the barbershop incident, interfered and went after Shawn. He finally got a chance to land a few shots, but Shawn runs away as Tito and Marty celebrate. Tito wants to be in Marty's corner at Wrestlemania. ___________________________________ Hulk Hogan Interview with Vince McMahon Vince: Folks I'm here with the former four-time WWF Heavyweight Champion, the Immortal Hulk Hogan. Hulkster, the world wants to know how you feel about your upcoming match at Wrestlemania against the current claimant to the name "Real World Champion", the Nature Boy Ric Flair. As many are aware Hulkster, it could very well be your farewell match. Hogan: You know something Vince McMahon, I've been through a lot in the WWF, and I know and my little Hulkamaniacs know that we still got a lot more to do brother. This isn't about the WWF title anymore, this is about my career Vince. I know Ric Flair has never been pinned or has submitted. I know what he's about, but I'm not going to give up that easily. Vince: Let's take a quick look back at your illustrious career: Hulk Hogan Video #1 is shown from his first WWF title win in 1984 to slamming Andre the Giant, to the Mega Powers exploding and winning the WWF title for a third time at Wrestlemania VII. Vince: What a tremendous career and successes you've had Hulkster. There have been of course many ups, but some downs. Many have said in the past that the Hulkster was invincible, but we've seen that in many ways, it wasn't always the case. Hulk Hogan Video #2 of Hogan losing to Andre at the Main Event '88, losing to Warrior at the Ultimate Challenge '90 and losing to the Undertaker at the Gravest Challenge '91. Hogan: That is true Vince, but besides the Ultimate Challenge brother, which I admit defeat by the hands of the Ultimate Warrior, these other matches were different situations where you had twin referees during my match with Andre the Giant and of course Ric Flair costing me the World title at Survivor Series that started this whole mess to begin with. I'll never forgive him for that, I'll never forget. Vince: Hulk Hogan if you do lose at Wrestlemania VIII and be forced into retirement, what will you do thereafter? Hogan: I hope it's not going to happen, I really do. I'm very confident I could win this, but when you got you're career on the line it makes you think. It makes you think about the possibilities of being with you're family, going out and doing movies and TV shows. But the truth is, deep down in my heart, this is where I want to be, I want to be in the WWF and I want my family to be there for me and all my Hulkamaniacs. Vince: And we hope you can stick around forever Hulkster, thank you for your time! ___________________________________ Ric Flair (w/Mr. Perfect) def. Jim Brunzell via submission. A squash match for Flair as Heenan notes that the "Real World Champion" will be wearing a $50,000 robe at Wrestlemania to culminate in the end of Hulkamania. ___________________________________ Sid Justice vs. Papa Shango (w/Paul Bearer) in Singles competitionShango comes out with Paul Bearer who has the urn. Sid comes out to a big pop and gets in the ring. The match begins as Shango lands punches, but Sid starts getting angry and headbutts him. He whips Shango to the ropes for a huge big boot that sends Shango flying away to the outside. Shango gets back in and runs after Sid, but Sid gets in a cobra clutch slam in. Sid dominates for most of the match, but Shango finally gets a few holds in. Shango lands a DDT for the pin to two. Shango gets in a nerve hold, but the fans chant for Sid. Sid is up and lands elbows, and irish whip and a front powerslam on Shango for the pin, but the referee is distracted by Paul Bearer. Sid runs after Paul Bearer to the outside. Paul runs around the ring, but Sid catches up to him, he grabs a hold of the urn and Paul begs him for it back, but Shango who went to the outside grabs a hold of his voodoo skull and starts a chant. Sid starts to feel sick, Paul grabs the earn again and Sid rolls into the ring. Shango gets back in in time and continues the chant. Sid holds unto his stomach and once again vomits "green goo". Sid in all of his anger gets up, kicks Shango in the gut and land a power bomb. They're both out of it as Sid manages to get his arm over Shango for the pin and win. Winner: Sid Justice via pinfall
