So I'm currently watching Hogan/Savage from Mania V and it got me thinking that IMO it's Hogans best Wrestlemania showing overall. I know he's had a his fair share of duds/alright matches but he's had some damn good ones as well.
It's just really good overall. Ring work, storytelling, selling, it's a pretty damn good match. I don't know why I never really saw this before. It also doesn't really feel like a typical Hogan match. I'm sure Savage has a lot to do with that.
But I'm curious as to what everyone else's opinions are on Hogans best Mania Match. What do you guys rank as number one?

I agree. Savage brought out the best in him. I'd say the matches with the Rock and Warrior were next.

Hogan vs Mcmahon at WM 19 was quite enjoyable IMO. The stuff they were doing in that match at their ages was phenomenal. I also enjoyed his match with Slaughter at WM 7.
But I agree with WM 5. The storytelling in that match was great. Savage was on fire as a heel and Hogan played the face to a T.

I always think of Rock/Savage when thinking of Hogans best Mania match.
For what its worth though, I thought McMahon/Hogan had a decent match at Mania XIX. Better than some of his others.

I think Hulk Hogan's best WrestleMania match was WrestleMania V, with WrestleMania X8 and XIX coming in a very close 2nd place.
At WrestleMania XX, he should have teamed up with the Rock 'N' Sock Connection, to take on Evolution in a Six-Man Tag Team match. We could have finally seen Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair at WrestleMania!!

That's actually a BRILLIANT idea. I'm glad we got what we did though. That's an underrated match IMO.

From a pure Wrestling perspective, I would say Hogan/Savage. It also was a great feud/story.
Rock/Hogan is the most surreal wrestling match I ever watched. The crowd made it though and the 2 wrestlers adapted. I wasn't overly excited about the match, but it turned into something special.
Hogan/McMahon I loved as it was entertaining as hell.
Warrior/Hogan is probably my favorite and most watched match of all time.
I also say Hogan/Andre was/is still the biggest wrestling match ever. It was an attraction. You can argue weather it was 93,000 people there, 68,000 or somewhere in between, but that place was packed and held as many as it could hold with more outside.

Hogan's greatest match for story line and build up was easily his match vs. Andre at Wrestlemania III
His greatest match for wrestling wise was probably vs. Savage at Wrestlemania V
His greatest match for story telling was vs. Warrior at Wrestlemania VI.

For me I would say WrestleMania III then in order... WrestleMania V vs Savage WrestleMania XVIII vs Rock WrestleMania VI vs Warrior WrestleMania with Mr T vs Piper and Orndorff
That would be my top 5.

I agree man its vs Savage at WM5. This match has EVERYTHING.
1) It was the culmination of the expertly planned Mega Powers feud. Vince never put ONE STEP WRONG booking this.
2) Savage & Hogan were legit the top 2 guys in WWF at the time of this match. This wasn't always the case with WM main events. On top of everything else? This was a somewhat of a dream match.
3) Savage had played the despicable heel so well.......and Hogan was at the zenith of his powers as a likeable face...fans could not wait to see Savage get his ass kicked.
4) They worked a great match....and you had colour from Hogan with only added to the drama. Everything they did seems to have a extra bite to it including Hogans legdrop at the end where he really DRILLS Savage with it.
5) Savage left this not looking weak at all.....even in defeat he still looked and felt like a legit opponent for Hogan.
one of my all time favourite WM main events.

LOVED the Savage/Hogan feud, Savage is one of my favorite workers of all-time. But I must say as far as WM Hogan main events go, Hogan/Warrior is a clear favorite for me. Then Savage and Rock.
I know Meltzer isn't the end all be all, of course, but worth mentioning that Hogan/Warrior is his highest rated Hogan WM match too.

I would have to agree with WrestleMania V, closely followed by WrestleMania VI and then WrestleMania III. All fantastic!

I have to say WM6 simply because it was an innovative feud and the match was greater than the sum of its parts. While it's true that Macho Man could work rings around Warrior, the end game of that match was a foregone conclusion. Heels didn't win the last match at WM back then, and a heel certainly didn't beat Hogan back then. Plus, Hogan and Savage had wrestled multiple times before that, and it was obvious that Savage would make Hogan look good.
With Warrior, the feud was unpredictable. It wasn't until later that I learned that Vince was preparing, or so he thought, for life without Hogan. I wondered if Warrior was going to turn heel, the match was going to be a draw, or if some new team was going to attack both guys to launch a new Mega Powers scenario. I was shocked that both Hogan and Warrior actually performed wrestling moves, sold well for one another, and I was floored when Hogan lost cleanly.
