I have been long at work with this project detailing wrestling figure history for the past several months, gathering and editing photos/data on my free time off from school. I'm trying to present it in a historical and scripted manner with elements of comedy intertwined. This was my first video in the series, so I'm still finding a balance. You can get a sneak peak for what's to come by checking out my channel trailer: right hereHere is the very first video in the series, where I take an extensive look at WCW Smash N Slam variants and a brief look at what came after. I hope to one day go back and look at the other figures in the Toybiz line, since as I alluded to, it got completely crazy half-way through. I want to personally thank the WF community over the years for providing information that helped make this video and WFL possible. Hope you enjoy.

Thank you for doing this. It was a lot of fun to sit back and view all of the variations of this introductory series. Toybiz had a gem of a set on their hands when Smash 'N Slam debuted in 1998. There is no question that it forced Jakks to improve upon their sculpts; WCW had been beating WWF in the TV ratings, and it was only a matter of time before Jakks suffered the same fate. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work that went into this project. For what it's worth, I think you more than delivered. This will be a great resource for collectors of all ages and I trust that you will be faithful to the many other toy lines that have yet to be covered. I've always enjoyed your presence on the forums and it makes me proud to say that you are one of us. Well done.

It took a very long time to gather images last year (I began late summer), but patience paid off and I was able to get most of what I was looking for. I always loved Smash N Slam, and as the years went on I found out about variants I never knew existed. It's fascinating how many different versions there were! I felt like it would be a good idea to try and archive this stuff. Many more to come!

Great video. I realised i once had that Goldberg and the belt is now around my Flair hasbro.
But, what the hell is Fox-Leather? sounds cheap and nasty. I'd rather have faux (foh) leather.

Welp, never too early to learn how to pronounce words! I guess I'm used to 'hoax' being spelled how it sounds, and since it's associated with things that are fake, I assumed faux followed suit since it's similarly spelled. Oh well - thanks for telling me haha.

Cool video. I'll never forget walking into Toys R Us and finding the whole set and double packs. It was before I had internet so I had no idea these existed. My 8 year old self was mind blown haha. Spent what felt like an eternity deciding which two I should get. Went with Sting and DDP. I think the next week I went back and got Hogan and Macho Man.
Eventually got Goldberg too. Was he in the initial launch of this line? I feel like he might have been a late addition. Because I think I found him months later. I could be wrong. Maybe he was rare and sought after because this is when Goldberg was red hot.

Goldberg didn't launch with it to my knowledge. They had separate shipments of just him, which is why after awhile he started shelfwarming. He's not on the back of the boxes, either.

My understanding is that Smash 'N Slam was split into three waves. Wave 1 - The Giant, Lex Luger, DDP, and Sting. Wave 2 - Macho Man Randy Savage, Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall. Wave 3 - Goldberg (in a case all to himself). The first two waves were released simultaneously. Goldberg came a few weeks later.

Wave 1 and 2 must have bee released at the same time because I saw all of those figures in Toys R Us. I remember finding Goldberg a few weeks later at KB. I never got fully in to the WCW line because those were really the only ones I had. From what I remember, most of the figures following these had stupid gimmicks, like you mentioned in the video. Towards the end they seemed to be getting back on track. I actually had the Jeff Jarrett they released with the breakaway guitar. But that was all I had from WCW I think.

It's nice to see I was mentioned in the video and it would appear that I have a variant or two to collect. I enjoyed the video. One thing I noted that was missed is a mention of the variant spray paint cans that came with Hogan. If you will look at my collection photos, the dark skinned Hogan can is thinner than the cans provided for the lighter skinned and the Wolfpack Hogans.

I love your video. It had great detail about the series and figures. I never collected these figures. Probably the only figures I don't have in my collection. I did subscribed to your YouTube page. I can't wait for what you have next for your upcoming videos.

I got the first set and ring for easter when they came out. I still remember my aunt who was there for the holidays coming upstairs freaking out because i was making so much noise with them. The first breakaway table that i ever had blew my mind. Some of the best figs ever. Shame twenty years later nothing compares. Nothing. Boggles my mind how were left paying so much for cheap lightweight junk thats essentially nothing but repaints.

Damn, do you have a site/blog set up? I'd love to see what you've got going, but I'm not going to sit through a video.

Appreciate the support. I'm going to try my best to cover eras before my time. I have a few 'buffer' videos that are non-scripted to serve in-between these "main feature" style videos, so hopefully I can keep up with content. Damn, do you have a site/blog set up? I'd love to see what you've got going, but I'm not going to sit through a video. Sorry, I don't - just a Twitter. I saw there was a huge gap in quality wrestling figure related content on YouTube for adults/collectors, and I wanted to focus entirely on that audience. My real-life collection is fairly unimpressive compared to most people's, so most of what I'll be doing is just covering historical stuff and funny things I've seen over the years in video form.
