Found this while searching on Google. Yesterday I purchased an x-box 360 console from Tescos. It was advertised at £179.98.On leaving the store and checking my receipt,I noticed I had been charged £179.99-(THAT'S RIGHT 1p MORE)....so I went to customer services and enquired about the mistake. "No problem Sir,I will get a manager to issue me permission for the refund"..... Funny I thought, all this for a 1p refund.Anyway it turns out that Tescos have a policy that if things dont add up (or you are overcharged) you get a full refund 'AND' you get to keep the product!!! Wow,can't complain at that. So basically I got a FREE X-BOX 360 CONSOLE 'AND' A FULL MONEY REFUND. A manager is called for any refund over £20.00 You will notice that behind customer services, there is a board with their policies on it.Read it,as the last section states what I have just said..... This information is useful to anyone who shops at Tescos,as this policy 'does' apply to ALL goods.... UPDATE: IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS (DECEMBER 2006) I HAVE MANAGED TO GET SIX FREE XBOX 360 GAMES FOR 'NOTHING'. TRY IT..... I think Tesco will of smartened up to this by now. So I highly doubt anyone will be able to do that now.

To be fair they can afford to and they won't need that £200 from the billions of profit they make each year.
They can always make it back by sticking an extra penny on a cabbage or carton of milk etc.

I checked this with my dad who works as a manager at a big Tesco store and this is in fact completely true. It's company policy that if they over charge you, even if it is only 1p, you get a full refund and get to keep the item. He even told me theres some people who make a living doing this, selling off the free items for cash. Seems the company doesn't care as they make so much anyway.

cool... but he says "IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS (DECEMBER 2006) I HAVE MANAGED TO GET SIX FREE XBOX 360 GAMES FOR 'NOTHING'." - how do you know what products will show up higher priced?
